  • @Electricca2 Check them out on Wikipedia...that's a great information website.

  • scottish bads are brilliant, simple mind the bluebells, lloyd cole b amazing talent

  • brilliant Bass !!!!!!!

  • Great 80 song. Reminds me of Sharon Anderson who was a big fan ( of OJ) when we were in 6th Form in 1982

  • why did top of the pops end?:(

  • like the video very much, keeps me young!

  • Why was everyone so much better looking in the 80's??

  • @brightstar1212 NO INSTEAD WE HAVE POP MUSIC THATS GOT NO CREATIVITY, RHIANN GA GA AND BEYONCE TODAYS MUSIC SUCKS

  • @brightstar1212 Silicon, cocaine and spandex (no joke) ;)

  • @MrUndersolo I think its mostly because they were younger, but then some people's looks improve with age, so maybe not...

  • 2:11 Downtown Julie Brown?

  • they do not make songs like this anymore

  • @TheAmig2000 I'm so glad they don't make songs like this anymore.

  • they sure knew how to make shorts back then..... hmm yeah.

  • So, 1980's wedge cut, we meet again.

  • xcellent post xx

  • Luv it x

  • haha, quality :)

  • 24 ripped this song up. must be hard of hearing.

  • 24 people don't have hands.

  • i have the 12 inch colour disc,,,never played . worth 2000 pounds now..must mean something...and yes i would like to bang yhe dancers lol

  • @olivermctexas why would a 12 inch colour disc by these be worth 2k,

when this song only ever got to number 8 in the uk.

dont sound right to me, perhaps you put 2 zeros to many and meant to put 20 pounds,

that sounds more realistic to me

  • @olivermctexas Wow! thats pretty cool. I still have this 7" single of this and the cover opens out into a poster of the band, not sure if its worth much.

  • Yep.... This.

  • Give it up to the HOT Shorts in the video..Dance girls Dance!! WHoooooo!

  • My god, was Edwyn ever this young??!! Lol, great tune, love it

  • my hero - edwyn collins!

  • edwyn collins is a great man

  • the eighties wernt too bad

  • Thanks for Up Loading this video, I've got the original 12 inch and have played it to death all my life since I was 14, I'm 42 now (easy maths), there was some great music coming out of Scotland in the early 80's.

  • :-)

  • Wow Hot Backing dancers fantasic old 80's a few groups seemed too been a tad camp back then , never the less .

  • 13 years old at the school disco they were very very good times :-)

  • and my favourite song is entitled "boredom" (o:

  • Who can possibly say that the early 1980s was vacuous after hearing this. Thanks for downloading this, I had previously annoyed my partner by paying 89p for it.

  • Got this on my Ipod Touch. Love the 80's

  • When I got this on Salmon Fishing in New York...I was listening to acid house...and I didn't even know it yet....horrah for this freaky world and a life of useless tenuous links.

  • Is this about London?

  • Saw Edwyn at Latitude performing this, amongst other great old and new tunes of his. What Presence!

  • it was great to see Edwyn back at the Lattitude vestival last weekend after his illness.

  • Old Eddie looks a bit awkward there, don't think this was his prefered surroundings.

  • The miming is top notch!

    ;D*

  • Brill, can't say more

  • Isn't that Pauline Calf on the left?

  • Hehehe....this scene is very humdrum....

    The song is absolutely GREAT!

    -----

    Om Shanti!

  • Great song and only just realised that the look/stage presence is very similar to Franz Ferdinand...

  • @DenMyster01 You are correct, and in fact the sounds are not a million miles from Franz Ferdinand either. Play this, then play 'take me out'.

  • Im loving the Top of the Pops Literal Dancing. xx

  • This is actualy one of the few live performances that sounds EXACTLY like the recorded version of the song...

  • @TheDrumsFan cause its not live slick, top of the pops was all recorded music being played. go check out the smiths or nirvana's performances on there as proof

  • Edwin Collins. What a performer. I remember when it was fashionable to dance like this.

  • Awesome :D

  • 2:38 awkward gay moment :L

  • スコッチマン、エドウィン・コリンズのORANGE・JUICE、ギターカットとサックスが決まる"RIP IT UP"~~きらめきトゥモローだネ!

  • fuckin amazing song. 80s flashback

  • There is something Deep Inside Me, which says.....YEAH!!!

    Very Good.

  • quality..80s but sill class..go on your-self Edwyn

  • Love it!

  • i love live music (when its live)

  • Rip a rectum with a big black PENIS!! HA HA!! "Swallow my pride" OH NOOOO

    great tune!

  • maybe Chic - 'Good Times'...

  • Sounds like a Nile Rodgers tribute song

  • this is shit!

  • @Lorenzo84no Don't you mean The Shit-Yeah! I hear ya man.

  • Is that Amanda Holden?

  • He's like a poppy mainstream-accepted Morrissey even down to the hairstyle! LOL LOL

  • @jrmetmoi Edwyn got there first...

  • @jrmetmoi Orange Juice are older than The Smiths. If anything Morrissey is a less poppy/mainstream Edwin Collins.

  • Not only the Lyrics echo The Buzzcocks - the two note solo is pure Buzzcocks also..

  • The lyrics and riff of the Buzzcock's 'Boredom' included in the song - I never noticed after all these years...I'm such a 'dumb dumb'

  • I watched this on DJ Heaven. The were paying tribute to John Peel. This aired 10th March,183

  • God I remember those dancers - they clearly thought they were God's bloody gift. Great song - thanks for posting.

  • oh, the horror...

  • This song is dedicated to my cat, who rips everything up.

  • It was great once you hit town also. This was a hit when I backpacked around the UK/Europe in 83 and I don't think one jukebox in either England or Scotland that missed a donation from me, just so I could hear this.

  • Great song and don't he look like Arnold Schwarzenegger

  • what a tune

  • Was this the infamous TotP where they were all drunk?

  • @HeadfulOfHollow

yes, they drunk to much orange juice.....

  • handsome fucker edwyn great song pal thx for memories

  • @d2ohn it`s Edwyn

  • Jim Halpert at 0:45?

  • No audio?

  • coke

  • My old roommate used to play this everyday back in 2005. It's a catchy little bugger.

  • my god if this is approx 33 years ago he must be in his 60s I remeber this when I was a kid good bass

  • @lll4577 He has a new album, it was out this year, and it sounds pretty good methinks :)

  • Love this song, pure quality!

  • I think they might've been drinking more than just orange juice?

P.S. Big Jim Foetus on sax!

  • I love this song :)

  • @CATFISHratcoon what a track i love this

  • Those dancers are awesome. Very cute.

  • like, this sax solo is totally ruling me right now

  • @rocketshiptothemoon too bad the dude's not actually playing it. check out 2:43. this solo still rules me though.

  • @rocketshiptothemoon HAHAH you are absolutely right, he gets it knocked out of his mouth and doesn't miss a note. Makes you wonder if they are even playing their instruments; the whole performance is probably staged.

  • @InterpolFL TOTP is staged, but still totally great!

  • lol @ the guy right up the front with the afro and cardboard party hat!

  • love this so much, been a favourite song for years and evokes such good memories of summers in Glasgow as a teenager.

  • I remember quoting the lyrics to some american lassie at uki about ten years ago and she was like

" Did you write those words yourself?"

    and i was like

" yeah it is the words from my soul!!"

    dident get anywhere thou :(

    lol

  • unreal, Edwyn looks literally about 16 here

  • @InertLoop hahaha. Dude, 1983...everything was gay

  • 26 years on,and he's an even better songwriter.

  • @NIGATAKAETU i may be just really stoned but am i the only person out there wondering what the hell this guy is talking about???

  • @clubzen I apologize. My explanation was short.

I think that "orange Juice" is a splendid rock band.

However, it is underestimate now. I am very disappointed.

  • He looked like that when my band Experimental Garden's backed Orange Juice when they did Mountford Hall, Liverpool Uni in 1985? Edwyn is a realy nice guy and it's such a shame he had to suffer a stroke with all that that entail's. Sometimes makes you wonder why all the good guy's always end up getting the Shit.? Anyway I'm looking forward to a gig he's doing in Liverpool (November). and the new album is sounding great. He has'nt lost that great voice! Hope to see you there. Richie979.

  • Dig the crazy totp 80,s disco chicks, thats where Liz Mcdonald the landlady of the Rovers Return started off!!. Great song though.

  • I can remember seeing this when it was on TOTP!!!

  • Luv this tune luv this band i remember it well bye 4 now and thanx 4 the video clip from Babs U.K.

  • oh yea rainbows disco bar

  • The Sax was played by J.G Thirlwell of Foetus fame. :-)

  • orange juice was one of my favourites.scottish funk at its best.shame they dont make music any more.they could have been as big as average white band.you never know.

  • thanks for posting this!!

  • i fookin love this track....it sure did rip it up back then

  • here y'are cockes

  • he'yer coces

  • "Downtown" Julie Brown at 2.12

  • i was kidding about the rock smashing into us though.. I dun know nuffins bout dat :|

  • what the fuck is this shit? did he just say I felt you inside while I belched you up? I feel like i've been rick rolled. cute girls on stage though. to bad they're all fat and old now hahahhahahahahahahaha so am i fuck the world. Where is that rock we were promised. Hurry up and speed the global assasination process. These guys are in the wrong decade.

  • one hit wonder i think ?

  • Great tune! Great times!,

  • great tune after all who doesnt like Orange Juice !!!

  • I guess this was after James Kirk left? Can see where Franz Ferdinand got some inspiration from.

  • Edwyn Collins & Jim (Foetus) Thirwell in the same band!!!!! HISTORY!!!

  • He deffo has something BOWIE - esque in his voice dont you think..also in his ' a girl like you'

I thought David bowie or Iggy Pop must have written the song for him ( a girl like you )

  • Great new-wave track! Thanks for the post.

  • reminds me of my misspent youth :)

  • Classic.

  • the Scottish Talking Heads....

  • @larryngocn actually David Byrne is Scottish!

  • tuuuuuuune

  • GREAT ONE HIT WONDER !!!!!!!!!! CLASSIC

  • The dancers are the worst part of this.

  • this song was stuck in my head all day today,

  • Lmao! Pass me a freshly-squeezed screwdriver puhleeze!!!

  • Nice 80ies Group. Fine fine. But a little bit fire in it I missin.

  • @KrassusHorrodrim not really an 80s band, this is there only 80s-ish single cause of there first use of the synth. more of a band from the 80s if you know what i mean krassus.

  • @bumratbob not really an 80's band? it was the early 80's and they were a band what more credentials could they possibly require?

  • @rottenlydon i know what your saying, i just didn't put my point across well. i was just tryin to say that when you think 80s music, orange juice don't really come to mind.

  • Ascorbic acid house... :-)

  • @40ny ok mr chem lab

  • first time i heard this song i was like damn.. this really sounds like it came from the 80's, thinking it was one of those Kitsune Maison nu disco, nu rave kinda band, but when i saw the vid i was like holy shit, they really are from the 80s!

  • I'm hiding while I admit I actually loved this tune.......Ive played it ova and ova this afternoon.....it was awesome.............Im in2 heavy metal now but I still LOVE my 80 tunes and loved living in that era............nothing has ever compared to the 80s.....the make up.......the clothes.........the music.........I say it on all 80's tunes but Id love to go back to the 80s to sample the flavour of the 80s again..............awesome time I had then.........

  • Rip it up and start again whoo whooo whooo whooooo

  • Edwin Collins looks like a very young Arnold Schwarzenegger in this video.

"Rip it up baby. I'll be back" !

  • Reminds me of a drunk Morrissey. xD

  • Another Scottish band, note Edwin Collins is the lead singer, this is a great song to listen to beore you go out on the town

  • @d2ohn Agreed!

  • classic 80,s !!!!!

  • One of the best singles released in the early 80's. Intelligent, honest and fun,Unlike today's corporate musical bullshit.

  • Pip - sort it out !!

  • Acid house my arse!

  • At 2:14, the dancers are ripping up pieces of paper. Ha!

  • @stnich0las i'm belatedly laughing here as i read your comment. good patter.

  • Wasn't there a band called Vitamin A as well? XD

  • tropicana sponsored one of my youth soccer teams & you could first buy tropicana there in england '92 too

  • This is simply bad.

  • .....and the memories come thick and fucking fast ! Take care big fella ....xxxxx

  • File Orange Juice with: The Smiths,Teardrop Explodes,Gang of Four as grossly overrated
