hey excuse i have a doubt i have been importing my vocals but my vocals startas at 1:28 in audacy and when i import it to melodyne it puts it on 0:7 how can i fix that and my sound sounds very robotic could you help me please?
its funny to see, that there are still people out there whoare trying use professional software and think that developers don´t have everydays bills to pay. its a shame with this fucking "for free" generation.
Oh, I said in my earlier comments that singing isn't really talent, but I mean't to say thats not the only talent out there. I do believe that singing is talent as well, but knowing what you are doing when you are making songs is what should be considered talent.
About this plugin, its pretty cool. I wish DNA would work with songs, but unfortunately the stuff I do doesn't really work with it, but it may come in handy in the future. :-)
People say that Rap artists and Taylor Swift/Miley Cyrus cannot sing live on key which means, they have no talent at all. However they are wrong to say that, the only reason why I hate them though is because their songs are very basic musically and there is nothing special about them, so yes I don't think they have much talent as what they supposed to have, but criticizing them because they are slow in performing is absurd.
Just because an artist cannot perform live and uses vocal correction doesn't mean they don't have talent. Singing isn't really talent. Making music and producing is really talent. Of course if you are doing singing, it would be wise to maintain your artist by mastering vocal talent. At least thats what I am doing, but I just think the way people see things is wrong.
LOL! Just loved that spot on arrogance at the end...
Antares needs a Guido-schmack in the mouth if you ask me! Maybe I'm getting on a bit, but NEVER have so called "R´n B" and "Hip Hop" (chart shite) been so f##ing annoying!!! I blame producer-Autotune-wankers (literally speaking). Sometimes I praise God for British pop music. Now please, don´t start hating,-there´s still REAL R´n B to like.
This is awesome technology. But singing in tune and singing with soul are two different things. James Brown never had melodyne. Just kick ass vocals. A bit of both and you'll go far...
...why do people think this is a good comment?? this is horrific. those "talented vocalists" are becoming disposable in the music industry... considering that any punk off the street can "sing" now.
What you want to do is solo your vocal track and take off any effects. Then, you put your timeline before your vocals, hit transfer, and then play your song. It will transfer your vocals to what mimics a midi scroll when you stop playing the song. Hope that helped!
Thats why the bands nowadays suck so much. They have computer programs they can use to make them sound better or even worse sound like whoever is doing well at the time.
@BrandonmfReno Very true... Im still amazed at peoples shock when they realise that nearly every single one of their favorite artists / bands have use vocal tune in the studio.... I'm like... well duuh! Even if you cant hear it or tell it's been used... It probally has in most cases. it dnt mean they cant sing, just like u said... who wants a cd with crap vocals?
@BrandonmfReno well, if you suck at singing, then you should have be signed to a record label and recording an album. only real musicians should be doing that.
No, but sadly the industry doesn't always promote the most talented musicians - it would be too naive to think that record companies and production houses chose their next "pop" stars based on talent. Instead, they go for what sells - pretty faces and big tits.
Which means, sadly for sound engineers like myself, we got forced in to tuning voice and correcting drum performances so that our work "matches" what our clients hear on the radio..
I think I'd rather use this program for something very interesting, like giving a voice that eerie drop off or sharp upturn in pitch to make it sound distorted and broken.
Take some of the audio in the final level of Portal for an example. Very eerie, very cool.
Though I guess if you're desperate to fake perfection, this looks like it works really well for that too.
i can appreciate this technology, but if it is a NECESSITY then you suck, if anyone uses it LIVE then you don't deserve to be an artist. For production purposes, i think its wonderful for cleaning stuff up or giving a quick transition to see the "ifs" in the song by a click of a button rather than playing a live measure over back and forth.
If you want to record your vocals, you obviously need a mic, yes. But you can also open existing audio files in Melodyne. And no, it's not free. See the Celemony homepage (dot com).
you could select all notes and then choose the vibrato tool (second down in the pitch tools list). Then just double click all notes and it should make the pitch transition (the small line) go completely straight. Give me a shout if you're still interested and having trouble.
tell tail signs of people who can't perform without the aid of a device to "correct" their performances. Again is that really YOUR music? Of coarse not! I also notice the ratings are low on any post that says learn how to play!! Why is that a bad thing? I guess because now you don't have too. How easy. Fools you all are if you thing that this is a musical tool. The best use so far was the Cher effect. At least that is not a lie, it is an effect! Sad for you
i have to agree that people don't care about developing their own skill as much but that is only people that take it for granted! But i am sure this device will also help to improve the people that care.
This, however, is an awesome tool for mastering your CD to perfection! instead of tedious adjustments, this is a quick fix.
I guess i take offence to the use of the word "perfect" Perfect is the way the artist performed it, "flaws" and all. Many great works of art and music have "imperfections" that add to the piece in some positive way. Many of those details become the actual highlight of some works.
also This tool isn't really used for mastering, it is more of a single track at a time. Not the whole stereo mix. (yet)
It is usually not people who take their talents for granted so much as for lazy people who don't want to take the time to get an actual performance that doesn't need some correction, or people who can't be happy with the way they perform so they correct it.
This tool isn't really used for mastering, it is more of a single track at a time. Not the whole stereo mix. (yet)

They are in my mind the "xbox" rockstar generation
Right on! I'm so tired of that shit pitch corrected sound. I'll go as far to say that ANYONE who is in favor of this stuff, is NOT a musician. There is a difference between someone snapping their fingers musically, to some digital clock ticking. Who wants to liseten to a digital clock ticking? When I listen to pre-pitch shift vocals, they are rarely perfect. Listen to some of those Beatles isos. They sound like demo takes. But they sound natural.
To be fair to whoever posted this video, it works extremely well for its purpose. From the video, it really does seem to set the new standard for ease of use and quality. But considering the state of the music biz these days, live performance will be the bread and butter. Artists will be better served composing a vocal they can actaully perform. Ah, who am I kidding..! If you need this stuff, you suck!!!! Sorry!!!

Bishop, yes it's easy. There is a demo version on their web page: celemony dot com. And this one is a plug-in, but they also have standalone versions.
A plug-in needs a host application (e.g. Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase ...), whereas a standalone version is independent. "Melodyne studio", for example, is the largest Melodyne, and you don't need a host program any more.
i have logic studio and have to use pitch correction for some singers. I heard melodyne can make a voice not only sing on pitch but make it sound lush is this true?
Melodyne is great....HOWEVER...don't be fooled by the ease of use in this video. It can be VERY tedious to correct tempo changes and pitch. They are obviously using an ideal example here. I still endorse the product but just don't expect it to be a walk in the park. It ain't by a long shot.
Seriously, get the demo version of Melodyne and compare it to Autotune. It actually does sound way more natural! Also, as far as I know Autotune can't correct timing or quantize audio, can it?
It can't quantize audio, but you should have a better rehearsed singer instead of having to quantize it really. I have tried Melodyne..never liked it, the interface wasn't pleasing and I still think auto-tune used correctly sounds better.
god people who talk about what they don't know shit about are annoying... You can quanitize easily in melodyne. The only reason you like auto-tune is because it is a vst plugin that has auto-correct to nearest chromatic note mode that you probably use. Auto-tune is easy for noobs, for sure, but Melodyne has more power.
