I don't recommend vaio for any one! Once I was going to work and I was on a rush , and when I arrived for no abvious reason the LCD was scratched from the inside and when I tried to press on it to see if it was something, I barely pressed to make a huge crash... No more screen no colours, no warranty accepted by VAIO neither...

thats bullshit sony and you know it. I paid 2 grand with tax 2 years ago for a vaio an FE-780 laptop and it lightly tapped the carpet floor and the CD rom is toast and sticking out an inch

So, what is the conclusion? Is it rugged enough? They do not compare it with other laptops. I am considering purchasing this, but having in mind i non-intentionally had dropped my present compaq at least 3 times and spilled coffee on it once i am still concerned about its ruggedness is enough for me...

I had dropped mine from a height of about 1 meter twice , once time from the desk, I think they should drop it on concrete floor, not onto the rag or something soft as they did..

Great I have a Vaio SZ 430 they don't tell you it comes with 20 gigs of unremovable bloatware, the case warps for no reason; and its CPU is regulalry 175 F. Sony really sucks; yeah they look great but who cares when you are miserable using them my 2 grand vaio is worse than the iMac I bought in 2002

I purchased a Vaio, it was broken --the unit was loading extremely slow in particular. The replacement unit had the same. I had to return and opt to Toshiba. Very happy now. No matter how durable it is, a laptop MUST first operate.
