If you can't get a job in the school system, try to get a job with private citizens. I know this sounds weird, but contact the law firm that defended OJSimpson. They do a lot of good work, in spite of that case. And they win. Also, contact The ARI who may be able to direct you to resources. I have autism and everything you just described I witnessed and experienced as a child in the 1990's. These dirtbags need to go to prison and these cover ups need to stop. I was told at 9 years old that if I told anyone that I would be institutionalized. If I saw this kind abuse today I would get in their face after filming them on camera.

Your Video Means alot to me, I am one of the few who has Aspergers. Throughout my School Years it was always hard for me to cope with others and even make friends. I wish there were ways we can discuss this but anyway thank you for telling the us all how our lives are. It means alot to me.
I say contact the local news channels and see if there is a local group which works to protect those with disabilities or the ACLU to see if they know someone who can help. If you are still in the classroom see if you can sneak in a video recorder for proof.

I think you did right. It was worth losing your internship, degree, etc. to protect the safety and wellbeing of children. The most important thing is the teacher got removed from the classroom. Hopefully this is permanent as she should never be allowed in the classroom again with this behavior. Far too many people are worried about achievement and reputation that they'll let just about anything slide so I applaud you.

Hi, I have aspergers, and my boyfriend has Autism, treating a child with such disability is the stupidest thing ever. When I get yelled at I stress out and eventually have panic attacks, if my bf gets yelled at he shuts down. Abusing children like this make the kids worse. you did the right thing. As a teacher, by law, you have to report all child abuse and this was certainly child abuse. Of all people, a special education teacher must treat his/her special student student with dignity and respect at all times.Your disability should make no difference in how your observations are perceived. I am a special education professor and i can tell you for certain that your disability does not affect your sight or hearing. You are being discriminated against.
I accidentally found out my son was being abused by his special ed teacher at Lafayette Elementary School in San Francisco when he was 9 years old. I was told by another parent that she photographed his teacher, Lynne Young, smashing his face and body into the chain link fence and holding him there for up to 20 minutes when he fought efforts to take him to class. The principle, Ruby Brown, was given the photos but I was never told about them until the next year. I still never saw the photos.

Hi, I'm 42, and I was dignosed Aspie only at 37. I have been bullied at school from Kindergarten to College. Not only teachers and directors did nothing to help me, but they always take the bullies side (even though they had arm lenght disciplinary records) but WORST , they forced me to sit with the worst bullies so that they had a bone to gnaw instead of bothering their PET students. I can help but despite teachers since then but you MotleyPrism are so brave that you have my admiration!

We went to the Dr. immediately after school to make sure her arm wasn't broken. Deep tissue bruising was the diagnosis. This happened in June, there is still faint bruising 4 months later - now October. I was later told by a classmate of a student EA who was with this mentor just a month before this incident that she had noticed the Mentor shove the student (my daughter) during her time with her ...
the door came with her as she was being pulled from the
room. She let go and the door followed. She then grabbed on to the
door frame with the new hand and then the door came slamming onto it. Instead of seeking immediate attention for my daughter's arm, the EA sat my child in the hall and had a chat with her about my daughter's "inappropriate behaviour". After what my daughter said was a really long time, she sent the student EA for an ice pack.
The EA stated in a communication at the end of the day that she "got the pencil away from her" then removed her from the classroom. Then told me my daughter shut the door on "her own arm" ??? My daughter later filled in the rest: My
child was being dragged and pulled from the room by her mid section and reached her arms out and grabbed both the door with one hand and the door frame with the other. As an object in motion, stays in motion....
GO to the Media! My child's EA last school year was the mentor training EA for at least 2 different student EAs during the time she was with my daughter 2010-2011 She has sensory issues with hand writing so when she couldn't complete a task in writing, she started to shut down. the EA pushed the issue but did not offer her a "break" as was outlined in her IEP (individual education plan) so my daughter got frustrated and started jerking her hand in a thrusting motion (with the pencil).

Talk to rights advocates... lawyers who specialize in cases of discrimination... you are being discriminated against for being on the spectrum. It is stuff like this in colleges that made me lose hope in the higher education system all-together.
The kid who was repeated what the teacher said has Echolalia... It is not uncommon with kids with Autism... I have aspergers that went undiagnosed until recently... many teacher were mean to me in school also. Good luck with everything.
I know my autistic son loves his teachers, He jumps around happily when he sees them, so its clear. Parents need to watch their childs reaction to their teacher. Being aspergers shouldnt matter, your judgement of whats wrong or right is just fine. I think these classrooms with children who are unable to be vocal or express themselves should have a camera system. Get one of those baby bear cams and find out what you need to know...
The attacks on children in Edmonton Alberta by Alberta Response Model teams and offenders at the Glenora Preschool are often attacking Children. Mrs Pruden and Mrs Dreaver/ Mrs. Husband of that school grab children drag them bully them will not allow them to speak out and encourage bullying and anti-social behavior or belittle and degrade carrying children under one arm. Bullying includes encouraging dangerous assaults on the play equipment.

I personally have ADD and had a bad experience with my grade 1 instructor (nothing to this extreme) but to this day it haunts me. I have to commemorate you for coming forward and not letting this fly. Keep fighting it and please don't give up. You will get there eventually (you may have to go through another school). Media might very well be a good idea. Defiantly look at going to other schools.
I am really sorry for the children in this case, as well as you. I know that something like this can happen, and obviously does, and you did well to report it. I have only one criticism, and that is that you did not stop the abuse. I know it is scary but I hope that anyone out there in this situation will stop the abuse and then report it.

DO you need a petition signed or something? Your advisors or whatever they are are really stupid for trying to sweep it under the rug. Tell everyone. Bring that school to its knees. It shouldn't be tolerating and trying to cover for a teacher who is blatantly harming her students. And the fact they are discriminating against you because you are on the spectrum sounds like legal grounds for suing them. I'm surprised more parents haven't tried to go to court.

This makes me so sad, children with autism are special, but also much more loving than "normal" kids. People like the teacher you're describing shouldn't be working with children with autism or children at all. I've recently started working at an after school club for children with autism (the heavy kind) and i love it already.

It is INSANE! They are saying that the educational system is, and thus THEIR careers are, MEANINGLESS! It couldn't weed you out! Of course, you sound reasonable, etc... They should take you at your word. The "teachers" are effectively treating YOU with an "adult" version of what you claim they are doing to the kids. They can't attack you to your face, so they try to attack your career! They are attacking the VERY thing that they are trying to remain a part of by lying about you.
sometimes you must go beyond where the law can help, but don't give up, fight your hardest, and get determined lawyers. Send your message to major advocate groups, and they will fight with you. If the law is ever used to harm these poor souls, there are friends in high places and they may help you, because this not not a simple fight, this is a declaration of war against violations of Human Rights.

Wow! The disabled and elderly are commonly abused. It's sad, because they can't tell. I am going to school to be a Social Worker. I would report my findings, also! It is the law! Just like teachers, we can end up in prison, if a child is knowingly getting abused. You did the right thing. Since you do have a disability, you can contact the American Disability Association! They can help in a number of ways. They can help you get back into your education and helping children.

I worked with severely emotionally disturbed children for quite awhile and was involved in getting a teacher fired for physical abuse, yelling and inappropriate touching of the student. Sadly, they looked past a stack of incident reports (probably 40) that I wrote. When they finally fired her, it was because she threw a tirade in a staff meeting. Than you for this.

At 4:20 ish you mentioned the kid repeated everything the teacher said... that is just one classic symptom, it's some sort of coping mechanism of the child. I had to spend the first 4months going to junior kindergarten with my daughter, there was no support. I've witness first hand an EA that was the wicked witch with her. She finally got a good EA assigned but each year they have to apply for their position and senoriy counts. not getting her back :( I'm so sorry you are dealing with this

My brother who is mildly autistic had many nice things such as his phone, his iPod, his yearbook, his $50 jacket, his school lunch, even his money stolen by other students at school. Barely any teachers did anything.
I get discriminated against by most of the kids at school.I don't really think it's because of my autistic tendencies or that I'm in Special Ed. I live in a part of California that doesn't have many people in my ethnicity. I just hate discrimination of all kinds. It just makes my sick. You are a wonderful person. My son has Aspergers Syndrome and he was abused at his school and the student teacher that witnessed it also reported it. I thank God every day for people like that. You should complete your training and move to the UK - we have some fantastic Special Needs Nurserys with dedicated staff. You lady deserve a medal, and I would be more inclined as a parent to believe somebody on the spectrum. Don't let them drive you out - we need teachers like you.

Listening to this was painful for me. I have Asperger's Syndrome and I have memories of being mentally and emotionally abused by special ed teachers. Never physically as I was older when I was in those classes, but they constantly did things which made my problems worse. Eventually I was kicked out of a program because they didn't know how to deal with my issues. Best of luck - the world really needs more heroes like you.
Ur a good person my two brothers have autism. I remeber when my my little brother was yelled at by the teacher, I think I could've been expelled but I yelled straight back at the teacher. I was only in first grade and I really didn't care. That teacher was fired.Thank the lord!

I have had the same thing when I worked as a nurse. I saw clients getting abused and I metionend it during the meetings. Now I work as a psychosocial worker becausse I wanted to put my own experience with my disorder to good use. But it hard becausse it is on occasion used angainst me if I talk to colleages. But seeïng how some clients say that I am the only one that understands them gives me a good drive.

thisis why i have a tutor that homeschools my son. he has autism among a few other conditions and i know public schools can't be trusted with a child who cannot defend themself. alot of these teacher see them as a easy person to take out there agressions on. it's deeply disturbing but true. bless you for what your doing. if more people were like you, the would would be a safer and better place to live in. you realy are a hero.

My 7 year old son has AS and is currently is special education, where he is suffering at the hands of staff phisicaly abusing him, as parents we face the same kind of sceptisism from Child Protection "That doesn't happen" and so on, you know how it goes.

If you can't get a job in the school system, try to get a job with private citizens. I know this sounds weird, but contact the law firm that defended OJSimpson. They do a lot of good work, in spite of that case. And they win. Also, contact The ARI who may be able to direct you to resources. I think you did right. It was worth losing your internship, degree, etc. to protect the safety and wellbeing of children. The most important thing is the teacher got removed from the classroom. Hopefully this is permanent as she should never be allowed in the classroom again with this behavior. Far too many people are worried about achievement and reputation that they'll let just about anything slide so I applaud you.

Of all people, a special education teacher must treat his/her special student student with dignity and respect at all times.Your disability should make no difference in how your observations are perceived. I accidentally found out my son was being abused by his special ed teacher at Lafayette Elementary School in San Francisco when he was 9 years old. I was told by another parent that she photographed his teacher, Lynne Young, smashing his face and body into the chain link fence and holding him there for up to 20 minutes when he fought efforts to take him to class. The principle, Ruby Brown, was given the photos but I was never told about them until the next year. I still never saw the photos.

Hi, I'm 42, and I was dignosed Aspie only at 37. I have been bullied at school from Kindergarten to College. Not only teachers and directors did nothing to help me, but they always take the bullies side (even though they had arm lenght disciplinary records) but WORST , they forced me to sit with the worst bullies so that they had a bone to gnaw instead of bothering their PET students. We went to the Dr. immediately after school to make sure her arm wasn't broken. Deep tissue bruising was the diagnosis. This happened in June, there is still faint bruising 4 months later - now October. I was later told by a classmate of a student EA who was with this mentor just a month before this incident that she had noticed the Mentor shove the student (my daughter) during her time with her ...

room. She let go and the door followed. She then grabbed on to the
door frame with the new hand and then the door came slamming onto it. Instead of seeking immediate attention for my daughter's arm, the EA sat my child in the hall and had a chat with her about my daughter's "inappropriate behaviour". After what my daughter said was a really long time, she sent the student EA for an ice pack.

The EA stated in a communication at the end of the day that she "got the pencil away from her" then removed her from the classroom. Then told me my daughter shut the door on "her own arm" ??? My daughter later filled in the rest: My
child was being dragged and pulled from the room by her mid section and reached her arms out and grabbed both the door with one hand and the door frame with the other. As an object in motion, stays in motion....

My child's EA last school year was the mentor training EA for at least 2 different student EAs during the time she was with my daughter 2010-2011 She has sensory issues with hand writing so when she couldn't complete a task in writing, she started to shut down. the EA pushed the issue but did not offer her a "break" as was outlined in her IEP (individual education plan) so my daughter got frustrated and started jerking her hand in a thrusting motion (with the pencil).

Being aspergers shouldnt matter, your judgement of whats wrong or right is just fine. Mrs Pruden and Mrs Dreaver/ Mrs. Husband of that school grab children drag them bully them will not allow them to speak out and encourage bullying and anti-social behavior or belittle and degrade carrying children under one arm. I personally have ADD and had a bad experience with my grade 1 instructor (nothing to this extreme) but to this day it haunts me. I have to commemorate you for coming forward and not letting this fly. Keep fighting it and please don't give up. You will get there eventually (you may have to go through another school). Media might very well be a good idea. Defiantly look at going to other schools.

And the fact they are discriminating against you because you are on the spectrum sounds like legal grounds for suing them. I'm surprised more parents haven't tried to go to court.

sometimes you must go beyond where the law can help, but don't give up, fight your hardest, and get determined lawyers. Send your message to major advocate groups, and they will fight with you. If the law is ever used to harm these poor souls, there are friends in high places and they may help you, because this not not a simple fight, this is a declaration of war against violations of Human Rights.
If you have any evidence you can present, keep it close at hand.

Wow! The disabled and elderly are commonly abused. It's sad, because they can't tell. I am going to school to be a Social Worker. I would report my findings, also! It is the law! Just like teachers, we can end up in prison, if a child is knowingly getting abused. You did the right thing. Since you do have a disability, you can contact the American Disability Association! They can help in a number of ways. They can help you get back into your education and helping children.

I was trying to decide whether to get an actual diagnosis for my obvious Asperger's Syndrome. This video shows me why I should not.
I worked with severely emotionally disturbed children for quite awhile and was involved in getting a teacher fired for physical abuse, yelling and inappropriate touching of the student. Sadly, they looked past a stack of incident reports (probably 40) that I wrote. When they finally fired her, it was because she threw a tirade in a staff meeting. Than you for this.

At 4:20 ish you mentioned the kid repeated everything the teacher said... that is just one classic symptom, it's some sort of coping mechanism of the child. I had to spend the first 4months going to junior kindergarten with my daughter, there was no support. I've witness first hand an EA that was the wicked witch with her. She finally got a good EA assigned but each year they have to apply for their position and senoriy counts. not getting her back :( I'm so sorry you are dealing with this

isnt it amazing what you learn about the 'care' industries, beit as a recipient of 'service' or as a worker, see where money and personal profit are seen coming into 'caring' as a character you see the care becomes for the bottom line $ beit profit or liability. No, there is corporate adventurists rolling in governments $ and insurance $ shortchanging everyone for a responsibility that communities could probably deal with themselves if self interest wasnt the principle motivation for everyone.

My brother who is mildly autistic had many nice things such as his phone, his iPod, his yearbook, his $50 jacket, his school lunch, even his money stolen by other students at school. Barely any teachers did anything.

I get discriminated against by most of the kids at school.I don't really think it's because of my autistic tendencies or that I'm in Special Ed. I live in a part of California that doesn't have many people in my ethnicity. I just hate discrimination of all kinds. It just makes my sick. You are a wonderful person. My son has Aspergers Syndrome and he was abused at his school and the student teacher that witnessed it also reported it. I thank God every day for people like that. It is great to see that there are people out there that will stand up and protect these children. These people need to be held accountable for what they do.

Thank you for what you did. I have a daughter with autism. And she has been abused by school van drivers and care takers in daycare settings and such...I am sure that there have been others that havent gotten caught

we need more teachers like you who will take a stand with us parents about this issue, what my son went through was a nightmare...I had to pull my son out of 5 public schools and one private public school because of this..this is why we need camaras in the classroom..we more teachers with the compassion and heart for the love of reaching our children not for punishing them for a disabilty beyond their control, way to GO!

You should complete your training and move to the UK - we have some fantastic Special Needs Nurserys with dedicated staff. You lady deserve a medal, and I would be more inclined as a parent to believe somebody on the spectrum. Don't let them drive you out - we need teachers like you.

Listening to this was painful for me. I have Asperger's Syndrome and I have memories of being mentally and emotionally abused by special ed teachers. Never physically as I was older when I was in those classes, but they constantly did things which made my problems worse. Eventually I was kicked out of a program because they didn't know how to deal with my issues. Best of luck - the world really needs more heroes like you.

Ur a good person my two brothers have autism. I remeber when my my little brother was yelled at by the teacher, I think I could've been expelled but I yelled straight back at the teacher. I was only in first grade and I really didn't care. That teacher was fired.Thank the lord!

We recently had a media and political scandal about a mentally disabled boy beïng tied to a wall for 3 years. So contacting the media might help. But it might endanger your career if schools are this corrupt. It must be hard...

I have had the same thing when I worked as a nurse. I saw clients getting abused and I metionend it during the meetings. Now I work as a psychosocial worker becausse I wanted to put my own experience with my disorder to good use. But it hard becausse it is on occasion used angainst me if I talk to colleages. But seeïng how some clients say that I am the only one that understands them gives me a good drive.

thank you for doing the right thing to many people sit there and dont because there scared to loose there job i think your a hero to those kids.my 6 year old autistic daughter was tied to a chair by a teacher.i would have never known had it not have been for another parent seeing it and telling me.that teacher is now gone and we have a wonderfull teacher i know i can trust.that means everything to parents of special needs kids.so once again thank you!!!!!!!!!!

thisis why i have a tutor that homeschools my son. he has autism among a few other conditions and i know public schools can't be trusted with a child who cannot defend themself. alot of these teacher see them as a easy person to take out there agressions on. it's deeply disturbing but true. bless you for what your doing. if more people were like you, the would would be a safer and better place to live in. you realy are a hero.

Just wanted to say how i appreciate what you did for those children, they can't defend themself's so completly reliey on brave people like you standing up for there rights against this abuse.
My 7 year old son has AS and is currently is special education, where he is suffering at the hands of staff phisicaly abusing him, as parents we face the same kind of sceptisism from Child Protection "That doesn't happen" and so on, you know how it goes.

I wonder if switching to another college or another place to intern would help
I also function well in most setting if things are modifoed(depending on the context)
and i want to work with kids esp developmentally disabled ones(most kids unless personality conflicts)..sometimes people dont practice waht they preach..people are always taught to tell the truth and be respectful...well those folks you dealt with were dishonest and hurtful and just wanted to save thier skin.I
