  • Nice you're supporting Earth Hour Kevin, but the idea of Earth Hour is that the people demonstrate their willingness to tackle climate change.

    We have long demonstrated our commitment & real action on climate change was part of your mandate.

    The Garnaut Report indicates that cuts of 25% are needed by 2020 if we are to save the Barrier Reef, Kakadu, Alpine habitats, coastal habitats and our agriculture. Your 5% cut by 2020 is just you laughing in our and future generations faces.

    But... is a 5% reduction in emissions helpful towards the greater goal of 60% by 2050, if at all?

    How does he expect to meet the 20% renewables by 2020 if he introduces the "REC multiplier?".

    The renewable energy certificates (RECs) are the mechanism for meeting our target. 1 REC = 1 MWh of electricity.

    Rudd and Co. have replaced the solar PV rebate with a 5 times REC multiplier. Suddenly 1 REC doesn't equal 1 MWh. How will we meet 20% renewables if this is the case?
