Jeez! Is this guy serious? By the way, insects do sleep, in a way. They can't close their eyes (they don't need to anyway), but they go into a semi-conscious state. It's like zoning out. Nice video!
this is an endearing scene. as was timothy an endearing character.
was he unstable? yes. was he a bit delusional? yes. was he a hypocrite? yes. and what is the problem with that? i mean for f*$@'s sake he did die because of his wonky beliefs/delusions after all!
at least he believed in *something* and *acted* on it which is more than most humans can say for themselves.
This was my favorite part of the whole Grizzly Man documentary. It brings tears of laughter to my eyes every time. Rest in peace, Timothy Treadwell. I love you.
Bumblebees typically sleep on flowers, as they need the sun's warmth &/or a jolt of nectar to get them going in the morning. This is just a sleeping bee. I've got photos of dozens of them.
thegirl44, while exaggerating a bit with the "Timothy Treadwell single handedly did more damage to the brownbear population in 13 years than the entirety of mankind in the entire 20th century" comment, makes some good points. People are so fascinated by Timmy that they gloss over the fact that he was not an objective observer at all and most definitely caused harm to the wildlife he was interacting with.
I highly respect timothy, for there is NO ONE out there like him. No one crazy enough to do what he did. so everyone insulting him, needs to realize that wouldn't and won't effect him. You go out there and do what he does, you'll say "OMG IM NOT RETARDED CRAZY STUPID LIKE HIM". Show the man respect, or leave it be. It's his life, and he spent it doing what made him happy.
And he harmed wildlife in the process, Exxtacy. There is footage of Treadwell feeding the fox, we can only speculate about the bear. So far, 5 of the bear that TT interacted with within the park itself have had to be put down because all natural instincts had left them and they were a danger to themselves. It is estimated by most WILDLIFE BIOLOGISTS, something that Treadwell was not, that around 80% of the bear that TT interacted with have been killed for approaching and/or charging humans.
Treadwell was so far removed from wildlife that he couldn't figure out that the bee on this flower was in a defensive stance BECAUSE he was there. There was never a problem with the bear in the park before Treadwell got there, no need to throw rocks at them because they were approaching your tour group, as was seen in Herzog's film. Timothy Treadwell single handedly did more damage to the brownbear population in 13 years than the entirety of mankind in the entire 20th century.
What the hell thegirl44? Where are you getting for facts from? You would like to think you know what your talking about wouldn't you. Ha, you're funny.
I'd be willing to bet he wasnt happy when that bear was eating him, no one wants to die, no matter how many times they say it or how happy they were with their lifes work. and especialyy no one wants to die in that way. I do think it is sad that he died, but he was crazy for doing what he did no matter how much he thought he was helpin the bears. someone should have stopped him. He was delusional about those bears, pure and simple.
please, one of you treadwell worshippers, please point me to a video, a website, something anything that shows proof that he protected bears from poachers. In 13 years of filming he never filmed any proof, and we all know he filmed everything that happened, I am surprised he didn't film himself taking a crap or jerking off. All I want is to know how and when he protected the bears.
...you know what? Grizzly man is such a...NVM...but he shouldnt mourn just cause a bee died. and it didnt even die. its his fault for being killed by a bear cause its stupid of him to interact with wild animals. He thinks they like him and all that but...they dont.
Why are you having a fit? He wasn't mourning, he was emotional over the symbolism of it.
It's his fault for being killed by a bear because he was stupid to interact? He wasn't being stupid. He knew that he was going to die by a bear eventually.
no he wasnt. and he did not know he was going to die. He was getting interviewed and the guy asked him if he thinks he will get killed by the bears and he said no he will definitely not.

so he mourns this bee's death like he lost his mother to cancer, yet he watches salmon get slaughtered by bears every day and never bats an eye. what a delusional fucking hypocrite.
This man was obviously completely out of control. How then is it that we all pretend that he was responsible for his actions? How could he be if he wasn't in control of himself. He was like rabid dog that was unable to control it's impulses and ends up attacking someone. He was sick. Maybe someone should have stepped in and taken action positive action early on, who knows, but the most useless thing to do is to blame an out of control person for their actions.

He exploited the bear for his own personal benefit to gain notoriety and fame. He disregarded scientific experts, broke laws, and broke park regulations. Nothing he did protected the bears, who were never in danger from poaching in the first place. As evidence by no video of photographic documentation from Treadwell's 13 years in the park. You would think he would want to turn these alleged "poachers" in to the authorities.
Wharf, you assume that his followers appeal to logic and truth, think again. I blame the whole thing on Bush, Haliburton, and maybe we can slide in some Global Warming too.

13 years and not the first fucking piece of poacher footage. This fucking asshole didnt protect a god damn thing. Hey Timmy, you got exactly what you wanted and deserved, the shame of it is that you murdered your girlfriend in the process.
How could you say somebody deserved to be torn apart alive? you are a sick person, you need help, I feel sorry for you. Amie was not a dumb person she loved Tim and the animals, she there on her own will and she loved what they were doing. They will always be rembered and loved.
Generally when the weather is really cold, bees go into a sort of commatose state where they hybernate until warmer weather but I guess the grizzly man might have just found that out. ~Shrugs~ It's actually refreshing to have some one actually be moved by nature though, oddballs or not. It shows that there's some humanity left in a world full of apathy and hate.
Wow, this is just fantastic. And this ending. It's so surprising. And it really is so touching as you say. I especially enjoyed the comment: working busy as a bee. And when you say: And it dyed, you sound a lot like Michael Jackson
He was doing the pollen thing and...... HE DIED!
