  • after watching this movie i realised why ppl hate communist so much in those days. communist are brainless ppl controlled by dictators. same as terrorist. brainwashed

  • Love this movie

  • This is movie was alright. But putting it on the level of Saving Private Ryan? The movie that set the standard for a genre? C'mon now.

  • Dam i wanna see this Movie cause i saw won Bin in the man from no where and that was kick ass! Does anyone know where I can see this with English subs? it's hard finding asian movies in the states.. ? Thanks to anyone who can link me .. and future viewers

  • @Gtikid1938 Just google "Taegukgi srt", those are subtitles you can easily load onto your movie player.

  • Such a tearjerker movie..

    Heartwarming, touching and EPIC..

First ever War movie that I've seen..

    A Must watch!!

  • Kim Jung Il is dead.

    FUCK YEA.

  • One of my favourite war movies of all time. stunned me when i first saw it.

  • I cried so much watching this.... and i still do when i watch it again maybe becuz i hav a brother and imagining me and bro like that is just crazy...

such a time of chaos and sadness... so proud to be korea

  • This is awesome movie

  • I liked the movie but it has the problem of many Korean films of being really over-dramatized. It kept wanting me to cry that after a certain point I could feel no more grief.

Still, it breaks my heart every time to hear about how the older brother's wife did what she had to to survive and feed her children, and was shot for it.

All civil wars are painfully heartbreaking.

  • I Cried manly tears when he got on the machine gun at the end

  • West and East Germany was united, seems like a time for North and South Korea to do the same don't you think? XD

  • Amazing movie... probably best foreign movie I've ever seen... third or fourth favorite war movie and since i love war movies it's probably my 4th or 5th fav movie overall watch and for all you critics complaining about the over acting stop it will you!! it's a korean movie and that's how they like it... they probably think our movies are to dull

  • A truly remarkable movie, it's sad at the end were they find his brothers remains, after been lying there for 50 years. it's a very moving film. if you haven't seen this movie i suggest you do it's a great film.

  • A truly remarkable movie, The ending 's sad were they find his brothers remains after been lying there for 50 years. If you aven't seen this movie i suggest you do it's a great film.

  • the speech at the end made me get tears in my eye:(

  • I fucking hate the USA. And i know most swede's do.

    Fuck you USA.

  • very epic movie...better the Enemy at the gates in my opinion

  • i remember when I first saw this. I'm surprised that I didn't drown my self from my own tears. lol, my sisters walked into the room when it was at the end and all they saw was me just crying before they just closed the door and gave me a weird stare when I walked out. Of course, after they saw it, they understood why.

  • Its sad that sometimes people have to fight for a country, or an ideology, or a government, that doesnt care if they get blown to bits or not.

  • I'm an American, and I think this is probably the best movie I've seen in my life no joke, I recommend everyone who loves epics or war films to see it--also eye opening is the amount of atrocity we've committeed in Korea.

  • epic film

  • I flippin' love this film, I made my own composition for the artillery scene. It's on my channel :)

  • Anyone who have a brother will understand when your tear come out

  • @Igor90000

well said, i havent shed a tear watching a movie in ages, but this really touched me ;)

  • I might be a man, and I had seen to many movies, but this was the only one that made me cry ! For me this is the best war movie ever made. The intensity is supreme. I recomend this to everyone ! It's allready on my top list of best movies ever...

  • there are still many idiot talk ideology here ~ they are the reason why the war exist, this movie show the real face of the war, even if democracy is better then communist, but the reason that the US gov(not ppl) fight the war in Korea is surly NOT for the democracy, so is the war in Irak, Afghan, Libya, it's nothing but a game of "who is more powerful"! the ideology is nothing but a tool for manipulating people!!Everyone who still can't understand that after watching this movie is just pathetic!

  • @cjy9305 war is about killing people u need to enjoy killing people

  • me and my brother cry when we watch film

  • Heh 506 posts. Gettit? Gettit?

Also:this movie messed me up when watching it.

  • Though I am not sure if the strange cause of this war: Two opposing ideological hegemony powers dividing Korea, installing their puppet governments and then driving the nation into a savage civil war, which is unlike a real civil war as no opposing parties did cause it like the Roman, Spanish or English civil wars but foreign powers brought in their arrogance this carnage over Korea – what have the Koreans to do with Communism or Capitalism? They only knew about their traditional Confucianism!

  • Especially the Southern soldiers do not behave like actual Koreans of that time but as American troopers do: The same shabby way of wearing their uniforms, the same behaviour of the common soldiery not as warriors but as football players on adventure vacation; but the tale itself is brilliant: Two brothers caught up in a bloody civil war and their tragic fate; their plans, dreams and love brutally destroyed by an unforgiving fate and how they are changed by war into different persons.

  • Had it been written and composed in proper poetry and verse it might have ascended over time the same epic rank as the Iliad, Song of the Nibelungs, Pharsalia, The Bruce or the Mahabharata has! But as a movie I doubt that it will reach immortality; and it has a great flaw: It is composed too late and the 50 years of Korean partition has left very deep marks in it as no one would have spoken and thought like the characters do in this film in the 1950s in spite of all ideological nonsense.

  • Odd that this film was never in western cinemas well at least I don't think it was out in England.

  • I believe a movie like this should had been in American theaters.

  • i was crying watching this movie

  • nanen pabuda

  • ohhh dammmn that pen is so weird i have the same one.... exactly! wtf?

  • this is by far better than "Saving Private Ryan"

  • Are the main characters from North Korea or South Korea?

  • @LastXdeth From South Korea

  • Pepsi vs Coke

Thumbs up if you get this.

  • @iamzero79 ?

  • this is one of the best foreign war movies I have ever seen! Great action, great drama, fantastic story! Tae Guk Gi shows us the hardships of war, the struggles against communism, and the importance of family. 5 stars

  • the trailer looked almost like the D-Day scene from saving private ryan... i must see this movie

  • I'd pick this war movie over most of the overdone (and sometimes stupid in the way some of these movies are made) American movies. Here you get to see the a fair view on how war can be on both sides, not like in other movies from the West.. where the enemy can't kill for shit and run straight forward without even shooting (for example..) I got a whole new perspective on war movies like these due to this flick. 1000/1000

  • isn't that guy in the warrior's way

  • @shylildude Yeah, Dong-gun Jang

  • Ideology is shit!!!

War is the stupid game played by bitch politicians. Ironically, they dare to claim they are of righteousness.

The movie is too impressive to us because we are not politicians. We are aware of how important our brothers and friends are in our lives. But politicians can never understand simply because of their ambition to power.

  • The Korean war and its consequences are the most live example fo how far can get the human-being blindness...Does an ideology make sense when the individuals are put behind? What about the separeated families, the people's wish? Who elected someone to overrule until... forever?! Free North Korea! Korea must be only one, no south no north... More than a geographycal position or 2 nations, Korea is made by human beings.

  • @ipkeez Beautifully said

  • @ipkeez

You can't thank to americans that there are two Korea today, if they haven't intervene, North would win and unite Korea in one state of Korea, like North Vietnam did and created United country, and today Korea would enjoy liberal communism just like China and they would all be happy and satisfied with no treat of war looming over their heads

  • @03nj yeh and the north would have calapsed or turn into an even more powerful united korea like china. China is the next big thing. USA get involved in every war they can.

  • Best Movie Ever

  • In the summer of 1950, right after the war began, my oldest uncle was 17 years old.

When he tried to enlist, recruiting officers told him that he was TOO YOUNG & rejected him.

So my father, who was 20 years old at the time, enlisted with him & both of them lied to the officers (not same officers who told him that he was too young) that my uncle was 18 years old.

My uncle served the duration of the war as a combat soldier & won a gold star for his service.

  • North Korea and South Korea, mainly USA and England helped South while China and Russia helped North

  • @ssanrock97

England??? You mean UN and US troops. Russia did not Actually helped NKoreans, only aid them with supplies (Stalin didn't want to intervene anyways), the same for China. It was later in the war that China helped the North Koreans.

  • I'm a guy and I cried when I saw this.

Saving Private Ryan seemed lame when I saw this...

anyone who hasn't seen it, is REALLY missing out.

  • @ChilSeongGeom Saving Private Ryan IS lame when you see this one :p it rips your heart to shreds.

  • @ChilSeongGeom also the acting quality is more that of a seven year old

  • if anyone has anyone other sweet korean movies , then let me know- ive seen oldboy and this so far

  • @linkavitchC The chaser, memories of murder, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Silmido, 'Marathon' these are highly recommendable so far.

  • @linkavitchC the man from nowhere!!!! fucking fantastic, come out last year

  • 나는 이 영화를 절대로 잊지않겠다.

    I never forget this movie.

  • were they fighting the japs?

  • @ZGJDJD lol NoKor for sure

  • @ZGJDJD No it was the war between north and south korea during the 50's

  • @ZGJDJD No it was the war between north and south korea during the 50's

  • @seelangay Oh thank you very much

  • A wonderful film, it will always be in my heart, a film that shows the monstrosities of Communism and its crimes.

A movie for those who want to cry.

Lord, 10, and praise music with a beautiful masterpiece.

I do not ever get tired of me crying over famed American films and comics better than Saving Private Ryan.

  • The end made me cry. The damn movie got me :-).

The movie is very good, i recommend seeing it.

  • @dbsktvxqFAN u do realize its on the related videos right? part 1?

  • i agree

  • great movie!

does anybody know the movie 71 into the fire?

I want to know if it premieres in local American theaters ( not in koreatown)

  • Over there, I have learned to be proud and strong for Korea, but after seeing this movie, I feel strong emotions for finding my little brother and mother someday in South Korea , who have been left behind which I didn't realize till now....and just be honest...who can keep his or her eyes dry after seeing this movie, which is all about bringing a brother save back home...

  • @EpicPaladin Some day in south korea? Wait r u north korean? lol

  • fuck!! my tears comes out everytime i watch the end of this movie shit!!!

  • : )

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if your got emotional at the end when the old brother hugged his brother's bones.

  • @royalsteven you ruined it for me u f#$%!!

  • I am sorry :(

  • @royalsteven thumbs down for spoiling.

  • Guys c'mon give me a break! I don't know if anone seen it yet. This is a video where everybody is free to comment on. Most of us have seen it some don't do I have to ask everybody? There's more comments like mine and I get all the critics.

  • i dont know korean war history that much, but why were the North koreans so much stronger?

  • @FoolishInTheEnd They were supported by China, and americans couldn't match the sheer amount of men/supplies provided by China.

  • @FoolishInTheEnd bascially China supported every fire and men power to nk south had nothing to defend against them

  • @whatthegirl ya.. South didn't have jack shit to defend it self. today they are a force to be reckon with.

  • muy buena pelicula de las mejores que he visto

  • If you want to cry your soul out, watch this movie. The actors were epic, the scenes, gruesome... One of the best war films I've seen. I think its on par or even beats Saving private Ryan...

    Awesome!!!

  • I've seen many war movie while I was growing up but really this is the best movie I've ever seen. There's a moral lesson to it too: That war really brings nothing but distruction to mankind physically and mentally. I've seen other war movies trying to attempt that feel but this one really dishes it out!

  • Fucking best war movie of all time HANDS DOWN MOTHER FUCKER!

Makes saving private ryan look like BALLS! nah joking they were both good movies but this one just fucking BEAUTIFUL MAN U GUYS NEED TO WATCH THIS

  • THIS MOVIE MADE ME CRY AT THE END , WAR IS JUST CRUELTY , IT'S JUST SO .... HEART MOVING MOVIE

  • People. It makes Saving private Ryan look like Bear in the big blue house, and packs a deeper emotional punch. Easily the most invovling, emotional war movie of the last god knows how many years....

  • Comment removed

  • i have seen many excellent hollywood war movies such as black hawk down, save private rayn, enemy at the gate ect...but taegukgi is by far the best best war movie i have ever seen. i have watched this movie many times and enjoy it every time.

  • BEST WAR FILM EVER MADE

  • Comment removed

  • If you guys like war movies, watch some russian movies. They make best war movies.

  • @rijezver1 THanks! Can you list them? I saw Mongol, made by Russian I believe, and it was great.

  • @jdoramaking

I'll send a inbox, I can't fit all my info in one message T.T

  • So it's not in english?

  • is this the or a korean point of view?

  • THE best war movie and the best movie ever.

This is a first movie that shows life of the civil and the soldier in war.

This is a movie which shows brutality of war and all ugly things which can happen to man.THE BEST MOVIE EVER.

  • I CAN'T WAIT FOR KOREAN WAR 2!

So many movies will be made!

  • @SMGJohn You think war is entertainment? Movies like this are made to educate people.

  • @blunc0 Yeah, because life is so boring! A fucking war would actually be entertaining at least I get something to do...

  • @SMGJohn so its worth it for my family including my elderly grandmother and my newborn cousins to be caught in the crossfire and probably killed in a war for your entertainment?

  • @Timuramaru That's how beautiful Capitalism works. And not just for entertainment it would probably sell allot!! so you get money + entertainment!

  • The fact that this movie is an awsome action movie and a tear jerker is awsome

  • so, other than this beeing about the Korean war what is it about? Whats the story line???

  • @DaSpartan71

Its about two brother who got drafted into the war,and yehh apart from their familie

  • There are so many great & classic war films out there that while this 1 is far from being the "best war movie ever", at the very least it deserves 3.5 - 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a top notch movie with a great story line, superb acting & excellent special fx. It shows the war from the perspective of the Koreans, both North & South. HIGHLY recommended to anybody interested in Korean war/war movies. Matter'O fact, it's been a few years since I watched it, so, I think I will go fire it up.

  • Pretty good war film. The battle scenes are as intense as any I've seen, and the acting is fairly good. The only drawback is the run time. It seems a little too long, but don't let that stop you from watching it.

  • Best war movie I've seen hands down! *bam hits computer table*

nah seriously guys this is the best war movie i've ever seen it makes saving private ryan look like balls! nah joking, saving private ryan is pretty good as well but this is by far the best war movie i've ever seen.

  • saving private ryan IN KOREAN

  • Loved this film. A war movie with a good story, not just action!

  • i was crying when i am watching this movie its so sad even if i am a guy

  • This was a great film!!!

But I got to add don't watch the dub version unless you want the characters talking like anime and cartoon voices. No I didn't watch it in dub, but I did watch a little bit to see how English would sound.

Am just wondering how come for the dub version why didn't they sound like people they sounded like some cartoon.

To get the real emotion and depth of the movie watch the Korean version w/subtitles.

This movie had me shedding tears :'(

    Good film A+++

  • This movie made me cry hard

  • Soo damn sad, good, beautiful and absolutly the best movie!!!!

  • Damnit I cried during this movie.

  • @Icestad me too.

  • saddest shit ever...i cried watching the last scene. its not just the war..but the drama as well. it inspires soo much. based on the north and south korean war.

  • This film was amazing...

  • The best movie ever made

  • Suchh a beautiful && Sad Story of brotherhood ; && Love soo emotional ;

Loved it from beginning to end .

    xo

  • This was an epic film. Im not a fan of war movies but this was so beautifully done - the acting, special effects and the plot- showed both perspectives. I swear i cried so much as result of the bros. This would totally b up there as 1 of my fave films. 5Outof5

  • Technily this war is still going on but a shot has not been fired in over 50 years. Many countries fought in this war, It was

China, North Korea, Russia against USA, Great Britain, and several others.

  • They have fired shots. Skirmishes happen every few years between the navies. It happened last year in November.

  • actually bud, there has been more than a few shots fired... check yourself

  • Comment removed

  • I absolutely love korean movies... and this is one of the best movie.. bets Saving Private Ryan and Letters of Iwo Jima....

Salute and thanks to Korean movies fan from India

  • Hands down not only one of the best war movies ever but one of the best movies ever made

  • @LaxplayerBlink182 you said it- this movie was one of the best movies ive ever seen- ive never got tear eyed to a movie, but this movie did the job- your missing out if u dont see this movie, fucking amazing

  • seriously that movie is the movie of the decade and it beats out saving privayte ryan at all [point exept for the first scene of private ryan!!! this is movie is awesome and the story is beautiful and with many sens.

  • This is the very best movie I have ever seen. I have seen a lot of good movies through my time, but this one beats them all. The cting is as great as the whole movie.

  • Epic film. The action scenes are probably the best i've seen from a war film but the acting was over the top when it came to the emotional scenes. Otherwise it would of been a masterpiece.

  • BEST MOVIE IN THE WORLD

  • Best war movie ever! Makes WW2 movies look overrated!

  • @CosmoShidan hollywood war films are not very realistic, most of them seem to glorify america too much, but this one is damn realistic!

  • @IJjung Hell yeah! You can't go wrong with the Korean War. The earliest fictional depictions of the Korean War, for example, the E.C. comic series, Two-Fisted Tales are one of the best war stories told. BTW, there was a movie about the Filipino point of view called The Forgotten War, which is based on the experiences of the Battalion Combat Teams who fought from 1950-55.

  • @CosmoShidan Hate to say it, even though the comment you posted is well over a year old, The Pacific is better.

  • @DEPTrooper That's your opinion man. I like the Korean war more so as a Filipino Nationalist; especially since my grand-uncle served in that war, at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, as a platoon sergeant. I find World War Two films overdone.

  • inspiring movie yo

  • Best Movie Ever :/

  • This is absolutly the best movie i've ever seen in my whole life and im not kidding. so much emotions i felt when i watch it. it so intesive and just an epic exsperince to feel the pain they do suffer in the movie. Love it!

  • when i saw this i cryed like a baby !! Best Movie i have seen!!!

  • Haha same, couldn't hold it back :P

  • Whoever directed this movie should be VERY proud of themselves for making the best movie of ALL time Korean or otherwise..

    1,000/5

  • who are their enemy? North Korea? China? Soviet Union?

  • North Korea + China + Russia vs South Korea & USA

  • it wasn't just usa, there were soo many countries that helped. but still ,thats epic

  • I've uploaded better quality trailer, check my profile for It.
