They're called the big 4 cos they were the 4 big bands pioneering thrash metal, not cos they are the biggest bands. I prefer machine head to both slayer and anthrax but it's irrelevant

metallica is most certainly not thrash now. i would say just regular rock. the guitars are hardly distorted and james doesn't have that growl anymore.

phil didnt pass out because of a condition. he passed out because of the complete badass-itude of halo, causing his heart to skip a beat, making him collapse.
It happens to me on rare occasions, can have injections no problem, but when they pull blood out for tests, something happens and i have a 15 second window before i'm out, so i feel for the guy, when it happens in front of all those people, and doesn't know when it's going to happen.
@ChaplainDMK I know when I saw them at one of the early OzzFests, Ozzy cut them off during the second song and they had a make up show in a small venue (CBGB's) and it was a lot better seeing them there than at a festival anyway. Point being I wouldn't doubt if they played a make up show locally for these people...

Yeah I've noticed phil always passes out when they play Halo..always seems to be around the solo when it happens...Makes you wonder if it's something to do with him having to concentrate so hard whilst playing the solo.. He passed out when i saw them playing in sheffield whilst playing the solo..

Just so people don't think he passed out because he was pissed the real reason for his blackouts is that Phil suffers from a rare condition called Cardiogenic Syncope, which causes the heart to have a sudden drop in blood flow, causing blackouts.
Machine Head Fans are the so loyal, its good to see the crowd supporting them after that instead of throwing shit like assholes. i hate to try to promote my band on here, but we just put up a shit load of vids so if you could check them out that would be sweet. if you like machine head i think you will like us as well. When i saw them for the 5th time back in 2008 i recall Phil passing out 2 songs before the end.... he literally collapsed to the floor and i swear i saw a piece of his guitar snap off with the impact.... Yeah I've noticed phil always passes out when they play Halo..always seems to be around the solo when it happens...Makes you wonder if it's something to do with him having to concentrate so hard whilst playing the solo.. He passed out when i saw them playing in sheffield whilst playing the solo..

i noticed that aswell! its weird.. but they usually play halo pretty late in their performances.. so maybe he's worn out or something?.. but its good that people support the band and arent booing them for something he can't help..

Just so people don't think he passed out because he was pissed the real reason for his blackouts is that Phil suffers from a rare condition called Cardiogenic Syncope, which causes the heart to have a sudden drop in blood flow, causing blackouts.

Machine Head Fans are the so loyal, its good to see the crowd supporting them after that instead of throwing shit like assholes. i hate to try to promote my band on here, but we just put up a shit load of vids so if you could check them out that would be sweet. if you like machine head i think you will like us as well. When i saw them for the 5th time back in 2008 i recall Phil passing out 2 songs before the end.... he literally collapsed to the floor and i swear i saw a piece of his guitar snap off with the impact.... I feel so sorry for the guy.... he's such a nice guy too, i met him back in 2007 and he's awesome.... he really does deserve to be in Machine Head... its just a shame when this does happen.... poor guy.... can i get a... MACHINE FUCKING HEAD!?

yea the halo bit was a joke lol but what i heard was the stage lights on certain songs get his condition going (rob mentioned it in an interview somewhere) dunno if thats a %100 accurate but thats what i heard anyway

He has an odd heart condition which causes him to pass out. That's what I heard from one of his old guitar techs. I always thought it was the song that knocked him out! Machine head fuckin' rips!
