The NRA was founded by Union officers dismayed at the poor shooting skills of Union recruits throughout the war. Anyone who believes that they were connected with the KKK is an idiot. Union Generals Ambrose Burnside and U.S. Grant were presidents of the NRA. When Grant was president of the United States, he signed legislation designed to stop the KKK and sent Federal soldiers into the south to break them. This video is a piece of intentionally misleading propaganda.
Yea I take Michael Moores view of history seriously.......... Guy doesn't even know the difference between capitalism and corporatism and he tries to talk economics. He's good at one thing, using capitalism to persuade a bunch of gullible liberals who are too lazy to take the time to research history on their own. Making good money doing it too.
This is so true about white americans fleeing to suburbs to get away from non-white people. Just who do you think those high walls and gates are supposed to keep out?
Alright I'd like to make something clear. Slaves who were brought from Africa to America were BOUGHT from other Africans. They did not "kidnap thousands of Black people". They BOUGHT thousands of Black people who were already slaves to other Black people.
that is were u were miss informed they told u would be servants who would be payed. u have false info srry to break it to u but that is a popular thinking that was started but no it was not so

@khorne131313 I think it was just by the people who made this documentary (was it michael moore? i don't remember), they interviewed matt stone (who makes south park) and put this animation close to his interview so it looked like he made it.
How the hell is this not supposed to be serious? It's in a serious "documentary" by Michael Moore. The only way I can see anyone claiming that this isn't supposed to be serious is if you think Michael Moore's movies are all really just satire making fun of the idiots who pay to see them.
This video is absolute junk history. Any historical account which attempts to sway your opinion in any way, and certainly ones like this which conflate their arguments and conclusions with the underlying facts (which this video was lacking dearly), is not history, it's drama or fiction. I realize that that doesn't make the contents of the video necessarily untrue, but it does disappoint me that people look to this without a critical eye and think that they're "educating" themselves.
Michigankid, you are one cool dude. You managed to quote the part of my argument where I explain that I am not making an ad hominem fallacy, and use it to make your own ad hominem fallacy!
I know reading is hard, especially all those history books what with the lack of explosions or wizards. BOOORING! But hey, you could start out by reading all the words I typed, maybe ask an adult to help you with the harder ones.
HEY LOOK I CAN BE RETARDED AND ARGUE JUST LIKE YOU!
Then, we're supposed to assume that the Second Amendment was passed in order to GIVE white people guns...as if everyone didn't own guns anyway. Finally, there's the most terrible example of correlation not equaling causation: The NRA and KKK really did have NO connections with each other. I'd finally like to point out that banning blacks from owning guns is an example of why we DID need the second amendment, and what could (and did) happen if we conveniently ignore it.
This is absolutely retarded. The puritans were "afraid" of being persecuted? More like they didn't enjoy being tortured. Then, the video leads you to believe that slavery started in Post-Independence America...not since the dawn of time. Even accounting for the unique and especially commercial nature of the slave trade in the Americas, it had been that way for a long time before the United States was formed.
I'm sorry. I thought I was explaining how the premises of the argument presented in this video - namely, that the United States has a unique history of fear of persecution and brown people - are not in fact true. In fact, what I really wrote was "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" over and over.
The video used in the documentary was made by FlikcerLab, a animation studio, not by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Also, Matt Stone, who appeared in the documentary, said to the BBC in an interview about "Team America: World Police".
"Tons of people have come up to us and said: 'Oh I love that animation you guys did in Bowling For Columbine'. It's very South Park-esque but we didn't do it. I was offended by the cartoon, personally I thought it was retarded."
This is not made by Matt and Trey. As a matter of fact they where pissed off at Moore for making this!! This is why they made a exploding Moore doll in Team American!
It seems the basic idea behind the video is to demonstrate, that in at least some sense, many things done in American history were done due to fear. Some things may have been slightly exaggerated, to help emphasize the concept.
umm.. people began fleeing to the suburbs because Blacks kept demanding their rights? This video is funny, but is pretty much does nothing but exploit people's ignorance and misunderstanding of class relations in American history I think. To refer to all American history as 'paranoid' is just stupid; the real point of interest is greed. : D
Yes, sweetheart. It's called "White Flight". & yes there is a lot of truth 2 this video. Speak to any African American about this, and they will agree. Ophra herself showed the clip on her show & she ws moved.
But honey, surely you are aware of the history of white flight. And that the conditions that brought about white flight were in fact more serious than simple 'paranoia'. Those were dangerous times, and calling it mere 'paranoia' is the ignorant and misunderstood part. White Flight was brought about because of Black Militancy, not because Blacks asked for their basic rights.
I find it funny that you had to take the time comment on something that I wrote about a full season ago. **yawn** I also like to know what Black Militancy, are you talking about, pre tell. Because if you mean the Black Panthers then you my dear are 40 years off. I also really wonder where you live. Not that I truly care, but I have to wonder, (lets say you DO live in the suburbs & you ARE white) that if a few black faces moved into your neighborhood, you'd pick up & leave post haste.
Also, I find it interesting how you still maintain that white people BEGAN fleeing to the suburbs only after African Americans exhorted for their rights. That's very interesting, do you really still want to believe that? Because I think you're twenty years off. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but for the love of God, stop citing Ophra as a valid authority.
On top of all of this, as a 22 year old law student, you have a lot to learn about this country & the people around you. I wouldn't be surprised, dear heart that your the type who says "some of my best friends are black" but only speak to them once in a blue moon. Save it. I've dealt w/ your type b4.
Two things. How is it any different from a woman who responds to posts two months after the original post? Secondly, if you are not aware of what kind of Black militancy I am talking about, then I would recommend for you to look it up with somewhat objective historical sources before jumping to the pretty silly conclusion that a person of black skin color moving into white neighborhoods equated to white flight. Read about that period, and you'll know what those times were like.
On a side note, smallpox and all the other stuff killed alot more faster than guns did. So plz refrain from giving us americans all of the credit for this. I bet every culture has performed a grievous mistake.
wat the fuck is this? 1.all ur doing is making americans look bad and 2. ur commenting on my videos saying their "barely ok" and im pretty sure ne one would agree that mine shows at least a little more maturity... ne ways AND you're british basically putting your own people down, SMART BOY!

PKiwiR I will admit that sometimes that you do have to make some generazations when you don't have a lot of time. However I don't get what it is trying to say. Because we know this, we may now conclude that Michael Moore paid someone create this cartoon to somewhat parallel the style and format of Southpark horribly. They threw this short in after the intervew with Trey and bingo! Dumb asses like the sphincter who posted this bought into this liberal psychobabble.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker or "the guys who created Southpark" for you laymen "shitty fags", did not create this clip. It was ripped off and brutally manipulated from a project that Matt Stone created in college called A History of America. As intelligent people may have concluded, Michael Moore is a master manipulator as well as the runner up for "biggest douche in the universe" second to John Edward.
meh... at least tries to put people "outside of the box" but in such a stupid way that it doesn't encourage intelligence, just stupid misunderstood following of something they think is outside the box... but really they're just as misinformed and on the other side...
Cause the civil war was definitely fought only over slavery.
When Americans and Europeans went to Africa all those years ago, they said to tribe leaders "What have you got to trade?" And the tribe leaders said "Slaves" because thats what they used as currency in Africa and they still do, in fact Africa is the only place in the world where slavery still exists.
It's true that a lot of the tribe leaders traded slaves, but there were also LOTS of cases of pure kidnapping. Have you read Roots?
And either way, it doesn't make it RIGHT, dumbass. It doesn't justify the fact that black people were treated like animals, raped, whipped and forced into slavery. You're an idiot. How can you use that argument as an excuse for what happened? And where in Africa do they still use slaves as currency?
Did I ever say it was right? No. You don't need resort to insults just because someone elses opinion challenges your own.
And Roots is a novel, aka a work of FICTION. I recommend you read a peice of non-fiction based on Africas history. And you'll find slavery still exists in several regions that have had civil war, in several forms (prostitution, drug rings, in some cases child soldiers) and its all controlled by the War Lords. Why don't you write a letter to them and see if they care?
Genius, I don't know what you're on but according to Alex Haley, the author, Roots is based on the history of his ancestors, some parts are fictional, but not the entire book!
Prostitution & drug rings are VERY common in Europe and US too, FYI. And child soldiers aren't just an African phenomena. Your point being? Just give up, dude. You sound like an idiot. That video got under your skin so you try to put blame on the Africans. Typical American patriotism, refusing to admit wrong.
Why should I admit to being wrong? Did I pack all the slaves into ships and send them off to work in tabacco fields and sugar plantations? No.
FYI, I'm not American, I'm British (in your face you presumptious bigot, now who is the idiot? HAR HAR!), and I'm absolved from all feelings of guilt from the slaves in Africa because we were the first evil white devils to abolish the trade.
I never said you did. Way to put words in my mouth. But it was OBVIOUS you were trying to justify it somehow instead of just admitting that THEY (the people back then) were wrong. I never asked you to feel guilty about the slavery. My mom is white, I don't expect her to apologize for anything other white people did. And as for "white devil", wow, you think that's how I think of white people? Seems like I'm not the only presumptious person here. And I'm not a bigot. Nice try, though.
tdevine87 most people on this site are americans and the fact that you are typing in english, commenting on a video about American history. It is not unreasonable to think that you are an American. Although I will agree with you that not every thing is the white mans fault, the truth is this video is dumb and racist.
The only difference between osama bin laden and Michael Moore is WE HAVE HEARD FROM OSAMA IN THE LAST YEAR. Michael Moore is a political ANTI-AMERICAN HACK. NUFF SAID.
2. It's a tad bit funny, but if it were really Stone and Parker, it would be way funnier. And it would actually be sensible.
3. Guns are awesome.
4. What the heck was with the conspiracy theory of the KKK/NRA? See what I mean about Moore? RE-F****-TARDED.
5. Yea, that is history for us, a little stretched mind you, but it's not really all that far from the truth. I can accept that. The real question is, who's going to stop us? The French?
"Guns are awesome" and "Who's going to stop is? The French?" Hahaha, WOW, you are so fucking stupid I dunno whether to laugh or feel sorry for you... Hmm.. I think I'll just laugh.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Moron.
If it were from the folks behind south park it would have been more acurate and would have had something construtive to say, instead of just saying every thing is the white mans fault and that guns are evil. Remember Michael Moore guns don't kill people, I do.
This is stupid. For one thing, the NRA was formed by retired Union soldiers in part to encourage gun-ownership by blacks, so that they could defend themselves against movements such as that which became the KKK.
its one of so sick human - historys i can see funny thingz about it .... greetingz Dee-Vee

The history is absurd as this cartoon.

The only difference between osama bin laden and Michael Moore is WE HAVE HEARD FROM OSAMA IN THE LAST YEAR. Michael Moore is a political ANTI-AMERICAN HACK. NUFF SAID.

1. Michael Moore's a f*** retard.
The French?
PistolSmoke 5 years ago
"Guns are awesome" and "Who's going to stop is? The French?" Hahaha, WOW, you are so fucking stupid I dunno whether to laugh or feel sorry for you... Hmm.. I think I'll just laugh.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Moron.

SupaAmi thinking guns are awesome does not make you stupid, thinking that an inanimate object is the source of all this countries problems is.

Gay. If this was done by Trey Parker and Matt Stone it wouldn't have sucked.

Let me guess. You're all american, so this appears stupid to you, the truth is a bitch ain't it?

Lame shit by that asshat Michael Moore.
The only way dumbasses can get people to accidentally watch this crap, is by labeling it as something else.
