Something about hearing the FFX instrumentals again just gives me a warm feeling inside. A tremendous game and this clip just brings back those memories
Guys... it IS tEEdus bro. TIEdus is how you say Titus from the roman mythology. that's why in dissidia, kingdom hearts, and THE james arnold tayolor all say Teedus, because that's how the Square-Enix pronounces it in ever single language in every single country this game is in. So stop bitching that it's TIEdus. You may refer him to that, you can call him that, but his OFFICIAL name IS TEEdus.
Probably the best voice actor interview ever! I like how he just doesn't tell his perspective of him being the character but also how he reflects on the game as a gamer as well! The last min on what he says about how the game can change yourself just by experiencing the story is too true. By the time I saw the ending it definitely changed me for the better. I give a middle finger to anyone who says video games can't change your life.
@RandomSonicGamer12 I completely agree. People need to recognize that video games (like films or books) are capable of being a form of story-telling and a way to emotionally affect others.
Can everyone just stop talking about how his name is pronounced? Yeah, I thought "Tie-dis" sounded way cooler too but jeez, his name pronunciation is all Im reading in the comments. :P
@AuronTheMaster i'll say, me & my cousin got over this subject like 2 weeks later after playing FF X & everyone is still talking about Tidus's name 10 years later!
is it teedus or tidus is it teedus or tidus? it's driving me nuts Lol
ASFKJHDLFKHLFKJSD I love how he talks about getting into the story. It's so wonderful to hear that, especially since I live in a place where basically no one in my family understands that games really can invoke emotions and have a real storyline. I just. I love this guy right now. So much. <3
The way I got to this vid was not from my love of FFX & X-2(Awesome games I have), but from watching a Drawn Together 3D skit, loving his voice for Woodloor and wanting to know more of him. I did not know he was the voice actor of TIDE*US XD
@Svenowar It's truely pronounced Teedus with evidence based on how Square made characters in Dissidia to say his name, sure fans say Ti-dus but its not the true pronouciation
Guess what, complainers, Tidus is made to sound like Latin. In Latin, Tide would not be pronounced as in English, it would be Teeday. That Tee sound is perfectly what anyone should expect.
@Svenowar actually it IS Teedus, unfortunately :/ . It's been verified several times. He wasn't named after the tides, he was named after another word for... Sun I think it was.
its funny to watch him and hear him speak because i feel like the voice fits tidus (and also ratchet from r&c) a lot more than his voice fits himself. :P
Final Fantasy X is probably my favourite of all the FF games. Everything about it just draws you in and you can't help but feel as though you're part of the journey these characters are on, and the voice acting is a large part of that. Brilliant.
In Kingdom Hearts 2 Tidus's name is pronaunced by Wakka, but yes it would be nice if characters in FFX spoke to him with his name without:"You know who" BS in FFX-2(Fenomenal game.....if you are open minded and willing to relax a bit :-D ).
I'm not really sure where the name Tidus came from, but it is my firm opinion that "Tee-dus" sounds better than "Tie-dus". To me, "Tie-dus" has an awkward force to it, and "Tee-dus" just rolls off the tongue.
I think people are more angered by it because they had gotten used to saying Tiedus and even liked it. But you know, facts are facts, and you can't really change them. You just have to accept them.
I agree with ItsNotRudy!!! Sorry if I angered anyone. :P
Officially, his name is pronouced as "Tee-dus", proved here and in Dissidia. It's not really that big of a deal. I don't think it's degrading, stupid, or silly. It's just the way it was pronounced. Plus, that's how the Japanese would pronounce it, and it's a "fail" because, while it may sound similar to a word in our language, it doesn't really mean anything in theirs.
Au contréir -wut of Yuna, Tudus' voice, is James's. You see, he does not force himself to make Tidus' voice. And it seems that him transformed himself into a human being. XD' I can see Tudus while James speaks, but I can't see Yuna when Hedy does.
I think his name originally is Pronounced Teedus because in japanese i's are e's and vice versa But to me hes not called Teedus his name is Tiiiidus and i have to agree with him ffx is the most amazing Final fantasy ever written and i still believe that to this day. FF10 ftw!
What the hell is a TEEDUS?! That's not a name, that's someone with a weird accent, "Hey Yoonah, yoo haf nice teedus, but dey're not az beeg az Looloo's!"
I mean, why bother to give the hero a name like TIDUS - like a friggin' TITAN - when you can name him TEEDUS, a name that makes him seem like more of a pansy than KUJA!!
I REFUSE to degrade such a great character in such a great game by calling him TEEDUS!!
if you watch the japanese creator's talking about 'tidus' they pronounce it as 'teedus'. It's probably why people who worked in it overseas (voice actors) pronounce it that way. I'm sure James thinks 'teedus' is a fag pronunciation lol.
1:24 Too bad for him, her actress isn't capable of that emotional range. In fact, she's barely capable of emotion at all. Honestly, the best performance in the English dub of this game comes from Tara Strong (Rikku).
@tempname11111 Well, in Japanese FFX Tidus's name is pronounced as tee-da (the Okinawan dialect of Japanese for "sun"). And that's the official pronunciation of it in Dissidia: Final Fantasy, since tee-dus was used in KH1 and tai-dus was used in KH2 (inconsistencies ftw).
I honestly think that tai-dus sounds better, but that's just how it is. :)

Final fantasy X has one of the best plots... but the game was too easy. xD I really like Tidus voice btw. (: some people said that he sounded "annoying" but i also heard the same complaints about the original japanese actor lol. so maybe tidus is just supposed to have that kind of voice. :P
I say Tiiidus. like the i in the word "In

Final fantasy X has one of the best plots... but the game was too easy. xD I really like Tidus voice btw. (: some people said that he sounded "annoying" but i also heard the same complaints about the original japanese actor lol. so maybe tidus is just supposed to have that kind of voice. :P

He nailed Tidus, him and auron did the best jobs voicing for any FF character.

i'd better not watch any more voice actor videos,it ruins the character's voice.
