they are one of the first rock, soul, fusion bands and hella great poets..."that shape is my shame there where i used to stand..." this song makes suicide sexy!
Playing this song makes me go back in time to 1977 when they published Steely dan Greatest Hits, I have the album was my SD first purchase. This song has become my personal anthem, thru the years I realize the only thing that I have missed is to see them live, Hope to make it to NYC this year to fullfill my dream!
In a heartbeat. The music had real musicians with a real musical education. It had lyrics and it had a melody. The crap from today will NOT be listened to in thirty years. Today's music is perfect for today's illiterate generation.
Steeley Dan will be forever awesome to me and i can still listen to them on the radio even now so at least their music has still lasted through the years...i love them..
Born in '65 and raised on the good Old Country and Bluegrass, but became addicted to the radio about 8yrs old and found my musical taste in an instant,. No disco or rap but all classics Steely Dan is one of my all time favorites
I was trapped in a diaper. Forced to crawl on green shag carpet. Forced to drink Pepsi out of glass bottles. Fighting with dad over a limited supply of boobies. Bound to other people's schedules; a prisoner. A prisoner of highchairs and forced meals and stinky diaper poopies.
You don't know my pain MAN!!!
Heh :)
80's were pink t-shirts. 90's were better, I finally got flannel and boots and a Chevette and the world became a better place. Birds sang, sun peaked out, all that.
@wackywankavator, if you only had 4 years in the 70's that means you were only 4 years old you moron. So what would you know about the 70's to say it sucked. You were barely old enough to watch Sesame Street and maybe your life at that age says alot about how you were raised in your household....maybe abusive or neglected?
Do they still do that line in concert:Drink scotch whiskey all night long and die behind the wheel?I would think that they would be pressured to change it.
At the time of this song, most states had passed laws allowing 18 year olds to drink, plus DWI laws had been softened in many areas as hard as it is to believe now.
Deacon Blues. The best Steely Dan song ever!
