  • Deacon Blues. The best Steely Dan song ever!

  • they are one of the first rock, soul, fusion bands and hella great poets..."that shape is my shame there where i used to stand..." this song makes suicide sexy!

  • ive been to many many concerts during my life, and only once i ve said, im glad i came to see them, Steely Dan

  • listen to that voice....

    pretty kewl

  • Playing this song makes me go back in time to 1977 when they published Steely dan Greatest Hits, I have the album was my SD first purchase. This song has become my personal anthem, thru the years I realize the only thing that I have missed is to see them live, Hope to make it to NYC this year to fullfill my dream!

  • In a heartbeat. The music had real musicians with a real musical education. It had lyrics and it had a melody. The crap from today will NOT be listened to in thirty years. Today's music is perfect for today's illiterate generation.

  • Steeley Dan will be forever awesome to me and i can still listen to them on the radio even now so at least their music has still lasted through the years...i love them..

  • AJA might as well have been a Greatest Hits album... except it was all new material.

  • Steely's "Deacon Blues" one of just a few 70's that made my A-LIST of the ALL time greats

  • Classy music from a classy band!

  • president Bill Clintons official theme song

  • @particlewaveduality1 Well it does fit klinton because he is a born loser. A real scumbag. this song is about a degenerate gambler pretty much.

  • i am a modern woman - i shit and i can pull my lips and i love this music

  • Born in '65 and raised on the good Old Country and Bluegrass, but became addicted to the radio about 8yrs old and found my musical taste in an instant,. No disco or rap but all classics Steely Dan is one of my all time favorites

  • Helped to shape me into the composer I've become

  • my all time favorite. memories of driving on summer nights...windows down and carefree.

  • I was trapped in a diaper. Forced to crawl on green shag carpet. Forced to drink Pepsi out of glass bottles. Fighting with dad over a limited supply of boobies. Bound to other people's schedules; a prisoner. A prisoner of highchairs and forced meals and stinky diaper poopies.

You don't know my pain MAN!!!

    Heh :)

80's were pink t-shirts. 90's were better, I finally got flannel and boots and a Chevette and the world became a better place. Birds sang, sun peaked out, all that.

  • @wackywankavator YOU SUCK plain and simple . go watch some more 70's show for more original ideas fukface. stay off videos i like

  • This song gave me the strength to sit alone in the dark during my days of depression... LOng Live Steely Dan!!!! "I want a name when I lose... "

  • Wow, even with the odds, a single dislike seems preposterous...ah well, you can lead a horse to water...(mind this mix isn't there best).

  • Wonderful song , reminds we of a simpler time when people talked face to face and music was real.

  • Greatest American band ever

  • I also go back to my drunken opium filled adventures of College at a Music School.

  • i used to shrug this song off as a kid when my sister played this. now i get it!!

  • The horns are insane...

  • Good music always lives beyond it's era. This is no exception.

  • They got A NAME for winners in the world.............They call ALABAMA THE CRIMSON TIDE!!

  • @SeptemberChild65 shutout LSU 21-0! "Bama #1.

  • the best song I've ever heard?

  • @toodsf1 I can argue that Black Cow and Your Gold Teeth are better, but this song is right up there.

  • these guys are so tasteful, sentimental, and suave, it's sickening. lol! a lovely horn arrangement.

  • redemendemtion.

  • "I cried when I wrote this song...sue me if I play too long." WOW. Steely Dan is badass

  • wouldn't it be so great if we could all stay young and relive steely dan songs and where we were then.

  • @MultiShades Oh man what a dream, If it were possible I would do it in a heart beat, one of a kind....love the Dan.

  • @MultiShades I do go back to my high school days everytime I listen to this song. Its awesome.

  • @MultiShades

The 70's sucked. I can say this because I spent 4 years in the 70's. It was ugly and unpleasant.

  • @wackywankavator what a dipshit! The 70,s were great times .Maybe you should have got off mommas tit and enjoyed the world more.

  • @wackywankavator Well glad you made it through the ugly and unpleasant times. Really..

  • @wackywankavator, if you only had 4 years in the 70's that means you were only 4 years old you moron. So what would you know about the 70's to say it sucked. You were barely old enough to watch Sesame Street and maybe your life at that age says alot about how you were raised in your household....maybe abusive or neglected?

  • @wackywankavator You poor bastard...

  • @MultiShades I agree with you 100% Hi from Fresnillo Mex

  • @MrPaco137 Hello to you ...

  • @MultiShades Amen brother.......

  • @MultiShades just thinking of how great it was in the 70's. I would give anything to go back and do it again.

  • @RHO1953 Really? I mean, you'd seriously go back to THAT?

  • fantastic

  • good song to mellow out by.

  • best song ever

  • Steely Dan always had the hot shot guitar players on their albums an addition to having Walter Becker

  • Do they still do that line in concert:Drink scotch whiskey all night long and die behind the wheel?I would think that they would be pressured to change it.

At the time of this song, most states had passed laws allowing 18 year olds to drink, plus DWI laws had been softened in many areas as hard as it is to believe now.

  • this defines and inhabits its own universe of cool

  • MORE THAN COMFORT MUSIC ..FAR-OUT
