To answer more questions in the video: Ridley is the commander of the space pirates, so pretty high-up there. About the place where Mother Brain died first, not a reference, it's the exact place. The thing that gives light around 9 minutes is just a mere camera. Also, do not even try to get all 250 missles, you will never find them, they are in the most obscure spots ever, Go for the eneregy tanks, you WILL need them, believe me : D. Just saying this because I kinda care.
Ah, too bad I wasn't there for the stream. Thanks for uploading this, gotta love seeing one losing his metroid-ginity. There isn't much to spoil on this game, there is just a lot of backstory. The second game is by the way on the gameboy, some consider it as a black sheep of the series, but that's other M.
I think the point of a blind run, and what makes them interesting to watch, is the natural reactions of a person who has no idea what's going on. It should be enough game play footage to show frustration and confusion, but short enough that it doesn't drag on endlessly. (case and point: NCS's Conker's Bad Fur Day let's play.)
As long as it's not wasting our time (no offense), I say anything goes.
I think you should play this like you normally would, use your own approach. Metroid mixes the exploring into the storyline so I don't you should worry about not exploring enough. But the way I play metroid games I like to go into every room possible but since this is a blind LP I don't think that would be necessary.
The second game was Metroid: The Return of Samus for the old Game Boy. I never played it, but one gameplay video on Youtube blew my mind by showing that Metroids have a life cycle and have different forms. All forms are more grown up and more powerful than the last. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omega Metroids. It's the only time (I haven't seen Other M, no spoilers for that please) you ever see those forms in a game except for Metroid Fusion, in which an Omega Metroid is the Final Boss.
Hmm... this will be interesting. Giant, if you're really into backstory, Metroid is the perfect series for you to delve into the behind-the-scenes of Samus Aran and cast, which is why I loved Metroid Fusion and Prime 3: Corruption.
This is the first blind run I remember seeing from you, but considering this game isn't that hard to get into (haven't played this, but played some Metroids before), I don't see you having much trouble here, so good luck, and...
For once, I'd like to see someone do a blind lp of this, meaning no searching online for hidden things or figuring out where to go unless absolutely necessary
To my knowledge, Youtube doesn't support 60 fps. There for, you can't see the shots nor see Samus blink when she's hurt. A way to slightly fix it is to play the PAL version of the game, wich runs on 50 fps. I believe you'll fix the blinking that way, but I'm not sure about the shooting. I hope this helps! =)
@Zupersonic I was able to stream the PAL version at 30fps which is why the flickering is observable there but even if I specify to record the PAL version at 30fps, it's forced to 25 and the result looks the same.
Play sonic generations please

I'm not really a big fan of Metroid series, but I'll try my best to stay interested during this LP.
