  • The only word I can muster right now is: wow.

  • Yngwie was and always will be, for me at least, the best ''Shredder'' of our time. Some of you may say that he has no emotion but for me every single note for him play a specific role in his style. When i hear him in this video my soul and just my entire core feels angry with the world and i feel like i can pick up my guitar and play anything flawlessly(i can't of course). To me, THAT'S why Yngwie is the best, because of the way he makes me feel...METAL. \m/

  • 1:36 the strings are also powered by his hair

  • > Insert Yngwie Malmsteen fat joke here*

  • What cracks me up about Yngwie's critics is they claim he has no "soul" or "feeling". Then what the hell motivated him to play 8 to 12 hours a day from the age of 7 years old??

  • Its like his left hand doesnt even move!! pay close attention to how little movement there is. Total control of energy. amazing

  • YNGWIE IS BETTER than SRV and eric johnson

  • shreding,shreding,shreding.....tuning..where was I? oh, shreding,shreding,......

    Yngwie is the man.

Just remember that this man is the reason for all of us watching shred videos, play electric guitars, listening to metal and classical and stop playing the pentatonic box all the time. He may repeats himself, but if I could have his control and his vibrato I would repeat myself also......

  • Try a chair without arms :D

  • Incredible, fully improvised piece to Priest of the Unholy only Yngwie could do this with such passion.

    Yngwie Malmsteen.....There is no substitute!

  • Not only his playing is flawless, but this strat its a masterpiece...

  • I just scalloped my first neck. Aside from four days of hard labor (100% hand carved & sanded), it took another week of finishing/fine sand/buffing. But it turned out to be a great project. Trying to relearn how to play again. This technique is not for the heavy handed. It takes a very light touch. I always admired Yngwie, but now even more. If you fret too hard, your note goes sharp instantly. To keep in tune as fast as he plays...try it sometime. You'll see.

  • Does a dvd about this exist ???

  • one of guitar gods

  • This is obviously an improvised peace..And its amazing..The touch, bends, vibrato is mindblowing..There are a lot of famous guitarists (that I really like by the way), like Vai and even Satch, that have terrible instincts when its comes to improvised solos..Especially Vai that feels the need to do something experimental every time he is improvising, just ends up doing some weird noise..Both Satch and Vai are great playing their own worked out stuff of course, but this here is something else..

  • @Chris741113 Couldn't agree more!

  • wow! what song is this? awesome sounding!

  • Nobody ...nobody comes even close to his skills...unbeatable...period.

  • @stevehislop Kelly Simonz?

  • @ZuoCruz ouh come on-he is like a parrot that speaks-sure you know what he is trying to say, but does he really knows how to speak? No.Just a copycat.

  • @stevehislop my point is that not all guitarists should live under the shadows of Malmsteen, Vai, etc. I bet you that there are licks from Kelly which Yngwie can't play and vice versa. Takayoshi Ohmura is pretty skillful and original too and I wouldn't call him a copycat

  • @ZuoCruz

Yes they should!!! Yngwie is THE BOSS!!!

Yngwie is the original, he takes them all out!!!

  • Thanks for putting the "J." in there. It really helped when i added that in the search. I kept finding a whole bunch of other Yngwie Malmsteens.

  • This is just a little show off of Malmsteen's arsenal when it comes to guitar playing.

Best fucking vibrato ever, killer bendings, fuckin epic arpeggios, ultimate accuracy and precision, brutal sweep pickings, alternate picking, legattos...my god I can't get enough from the Maestro.

  • Doesn't his hair get in the way?

  • @DavePerry2012 maybe its part of his technique to mute the open strings!

  • Im not a huge fan of Yngwie, and the whole 'all speed' thing is kinda tiresome., with any guitarist in my opinion. I know, if i could pick that clean and fast, and play that well, I sure as hell would do it all fucking day.

  • The improv here is so amazing. Yngwie is a huge inspiration to any guitar player.

  • fuck! how you do this? would be devil's work. but i liked. congratulations! you know!

  • I can never get enough of this

  • If only I could learn to play like Malmsteen and then play the opposite kind of music!

  • @MadGriffith e si verissimo :)

  • fucking incredible!!! go yngwie!!!

  • hes the fucking man

  • I love love love yngwie. but he played sloppy here

  • It just hit me: He could repeat this! And than he could play it again exactly like before...He is on such a high level, that I´m really gratefull that I gave up playing Guitars years ago.

  • what song is this?

  • Comment removed

  • @d3strukter Priest of the Unholy

  • awesome Yngwie is awesome

  • when you are better than the majority of guitarists on earth, you can play fast with a feather in your ass, you'll remain better than the majority of guitarists on earth. before criticizing ask yourself : "I don't like shred so I won't watch shred video" and "shredders are killing my poor blues skills so I must be humble and not post hate".

  • HE "PICKS" HIS HAIR!

  • yngwie is what you call a true virtuoso, one of the greatest guitarist of our time , legendary shreds .

  • The third hand in the vid is also Yngwie´s...chrchrchrchr!

  • No matter what people say, Yngwie's the king and all Hail the king Yeah!!!

  • If I could play 0.1% what he can, I could make a living as a studio musician no doubt...

  • A true inspiration !

  • A true inspiration !

  • hahahah oh my goodness this beard is sooo retarded...

  • People should be thankful that yngwie is around because without him THERE WOULDNT BE PAUL GILBERT, ALEXI LAIHO, JOHN PETRUCCI, GEORGE LYNCHE, MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO, RUSTY COOLEY, JASON BECKER ETC ETC !!! HATE ON HIM WHATEVER THE FUCK U WANT BUT ITS A DAMN FACT THAT YNGWIE IS THE GREATEST SHREDDER !! HE IS THE BOSS

  • @xSnoweyexp thank you for speaking for a lot of us. Yngwie is king!

  • @xSnoweyexp calm down lol. He's nasty as balls but the boss of shredding is Eddie Van Halen, without him guitar wouldnt be what it is today

  • @crazykid13131 hell no... EVH couldn't even play Yngwie's stuff. Heck can EVH even sweep???

  • I love this kind of music. Yngwie created his own genre. He is the best at this.

  • oh dear.

  • Long Live Yngwie, Long Live The King.

  • I've never heard a strat like in his hands!Great!

  • that hand in the background is Yngwie's

  • i love this sounds just like black star

  • This is excellent!

  • That has to be the hottest demonstration by far. Malmsteen is and always will be a legendary guitar hero! Not just for speed, but style.

  • @FallenPrey33 I couldnt agree more.

  • What a sound...nothing comes even close to the Strat-Yngwie-Marshall-Combination...forget about these synthetic sounding Ibanez´ s and such...

  • Demon+strat+ion(ising his opponents!)...What a Master.Malmsteen is and will always be my inspiration.

  • malmsteen is our teather.he is very good!!

  • This is the best tone i have EVER HEARD from him since 1984 evil eye live!

  • why is he so goddamn good?

  • i thought he didn't had time to play guitar, i mean putting on all this gold to show everybody how rich he is, and watching at you'r collecting of guitars that all look the same, it's amazing, he would even be better if he didn't spend time at that.

  • That sounded amazing

  • Yngwie, is a 1 and only, and whether you like him or not, respect is warrented !!!

  • He is unbeatable...period.

  • Why do people always expect guitarists to change their style of playing after many years? Fucking idiots.

  • @ProgressiveGuitarist Yup and why change success.

  • @ProgressiveGuitarist because it gets boring when you keep putting the same album out over and over again.

  • @ProgressiveGuitarist so true. nobody has that sound and that style, only him. i hate when ppl come and say "no emotions", "takes no skill, only shred". okay, i wanna see steve vai or joe satriani with so much so called emotions doing that. and change THEIR style.

btw, i am no yngwie fan or so, just saying my opinion...

  • I LOVE HIM....but........he doesent know when to not play fast, lol

  • he did in the 80s what hendrix did in the 70s, he completely changed the way of playing the guitar, he influenced every guitar player who came after him. nothing more to say, PURE GENIOUS

  • @andyguitarz no he did not , he's not THE GOD of guitar it's not becasuse you're a big fan of yngwie that you need to say that, I'm pretty sure that he didn't influence all the guitar players that came after him.

  • @oli2766 he didnt influenced every guitar player after him but he influenced ALL the shred guitar players thats what i was saying.

  • @andyguitarz no , how can you say that , you know all the guitar players that do shred??? , no !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @andyguitarz no he didn't inspire me. FAIL!

  • For the 26 people who dislike this......you are 26 jelouse people....the man is perhaps the greatest electric guitar player in the world! My favorite guitar player is joe satriani i think hes the best. But if you think yngwie is better that is a logical argument. Every artist is different and has his own individual style. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And what yngwie does only yngwie can do. And i thank God for his presence here on earth. He is a great gift from God. Appreciate him.

  • Absolutely floored...

  • The guitar is an extension of his body...unbelieveable...

  • Just imagine...you could start practicing today until the end of your live and you would probably fail to achieve his level of playing.Intimidating...aint it?

  • 4:59 = Jizz in my pants!

  • ultimate eargasm!: 4:43 - 4:57

  • 0.01 EPIC GUITARR

  • the tone is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is like chopping of a leg..from that point on you live in a different world...thats how his face expression looks like...he is totally living in a different world, made by himself...at the end he seems like waking up...what a unique lifeform this human beeing is.

  • What a blast this is video is...thx so much 4 uploading!

  • This is how Guitar tuning has to be done - 1:31

  • Yngwie is the real guitar virtuoso,he plays with a lot of emotion also

  • He is sooo smoth, that bastard

  • it looks like an instructional dvd, is it? which one?

  • the vibrato off the scalop neck really look worth it when he plays vibrato its like that strings glued to his finger

  • 0:51 Haha! Look at that cheap old little crt monitor! in a custom made studio with the most expensive stuff all worth a fortune LOL! :D

  • Gotta love how in the midst of his epic playing he decides to quickly tune his string and then continuing the shred

  • The fucking GOD. He makes everything look so damn easy.

  • His "style" hasn't changed. How many well known players really do change their style? He still has the same influences why would he really change style?

  • The King of Neo-Classical Fusion Guitar!!! A MONSTER!!!

  • I guess hes just improvising....HELL

  • anytime anyone wants to say shit about Yngwie J. Malmsteen, show them this clip. it explains everything...

  • shredder dick!

  • WOW the way he shifts the pickups, the sense of texture for each string, themanaging of the tone, that developed sense of touch and sounds that scaloped neck provides to the musician, the extreme ear tunning he has for tremolo bar, bendings and high pitch is simple unique. At this point is more than a knowledge its intuitive experience.

  • @theavatarstudy

    Well said!

  • @theavatarstudy great comments! Its refreshing to see people that actually get Yngwie unlike these foolish critics that hear nothing but "speed".

  • @StanleyKu

Thats becouse their poor ears cant follow the melody on this speed! Have you noticed that the best musicians play fast! ( Mozart, Beethooven ((GO LISTEN TO HIS MOONLIGHT SOANATA MVT3 ; you wont regret it)) anh Yngwie ofc )

  • @StanleyKu Yeah, I get Yngwie too! He´s all about speed ! Really!

  • @KonkreteXXX I guess Beethoven and Mozart were too.

  • @StanleyKu Yeah, they were!

  • that's not pleasant to the bear though

  • Funny, he uses almost no distortion. But its compensed with a lot of sustain

  • hes nuts as hell man, fuckin shreddin

  • He has to have the greatest vibrato in the world!

  • @StanleyKu I prefer Uli Jon Roth's to Yngwie's but in my opinion there is no other guitarist whose bendings are as smooth and accurate as Yngwie's!

  • I can't believe how he combines soulful with incredible technical playing. This guy is freaking amazing!

  • WOW..... Super!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • for me he's the best

  • his right hand is fucking unbelivble

  • Whats the name of this instrumental?! is it new?! I can't find it in my collection!!!!

  • 3:01 to 3:04 AWESOME wide vibrato!!!! Some people can not make their vibrato sound that good with a whammy bar!!!!

  • he sure loves his ferraris

  • Man, Yngwie was really 'ON' on that day. Way to go!

  • i'm glad his hair didnt get stuck in the strings :p great guitarist

  • sweden

  • Amazing !!!! That's all

  • There are Many other Rock Guitar Players out there But There's Only One Yngwie J. Malmsteen The Neo-Classical and King of Shred. Song is " Priest of the Unholy " from his 2008 Perpetual Flame Album.

  • People, please keep in mind:

    He's the original !

  • @benjorino7 not true. When giving credit to the originators of Neo-Classical metal, that crown is shared between two men: Uli Jon Roth (original Scorpions guitarist) and Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple). Both, Malmsteen has been quoted as saying, were his main influences along with the classical influences of Paganini and Bach. It is true that Malmsteen brought the style to a larger audience. However, he is not the original. IMO Uli is the true innovator. Check out his song Sails of Charon.

  • beast

  • fucking beast

  • Nobody can reach him EVER!

  • @beerdeddi I will!

  • Malmsteen has ridiculously good vibrato and he always comes up with the coolest sounding licks.

  • He is allowed to have an ego. People should be allowed to show their talents :D

  • @Guitareben

If he's allowed to have his ego, I'm allowed to call him a dick.

  • The man is not human. One of kind, even Satch calls him the amazing Yngwie (Ingvay). He smokes my brain after a couple songs. I do not know how he does an entire gig. It's a lot of the same runs and sweep picking but who is better at this than Paganini's bastard great, great, grandson...

He probably has every right to an ego, he is what he is, I would expect him to be egocentric and a little crazy, genius is not after all normal.

  • @CarvinTone yeah true men i mean its unhealthy to dont have a ego , I mean yngwie knows hes the best at what he does so let him go and ive seen many interviews etc and he seemed really laid back. Its just his character i mean hes a great guy !!! uber guitarist for sure !!

  • this is like him jamming over the backing track of "Kree Nakoorie"

  • love at 0:38

  • Yngwie takes so much shit from everyone because he demands excellence from himself and his band! And he does have an ego, but that comes from confidence and a lot of hard work. Instead of partying & getting loaded, he was practicing. But folks need to remember that he INVENTED this kind of playing. He was doing this stuff when half these guys were still in diapers. Many can copy and imitate but few ever attain his smooth and relaxed "right hand" style. Hell - I'll never get it, that's for sure!

  • shut up Ashole

    Fucking retard

  • proably the best neoclassical guitarist out of the lot

  • it doesnt matter how much shit they throw at yngwie... and it doenst matter if he is hard to work with... his technique is flawless.

  • It's one thing to play all this but it's another thing to memorize it all

  • The way you get that speed is by staying up all night playing crazy shit off the top of your head.

  • 4:45 amazing!

  • hes good but i preferred Jason Becker when he could play!

  • @benno369 Yngwie should play to a Jamtrack or a song from Jason!

  • Dude, i want his watch

  • @Megatrane Never mind wanting his watch, i want his guitar aswell.

Along with his amps pedals, leads and erm how could i forget, I want his Flawless Technique!!!

  • ur so mature..

  • dont get me wrong, i love malmsteen, he is undoubtedly the best, but i was just sayin nobody comes by that speed by just practicing on a guitar. now it could be other methods, i just masturbation as an example,

  • yes i got your point!!

  • ahhahahahha

  • i like sound malmsteen on album magnum opus...

  • You all should check out Guthrie Govan.

  • i hate this guy, because he makes my fingers hurt from just watching how fast he is going.lol. that is ridiculous..

  • THE BOSS

  • fuck sake it was him that inspiered becker! lol beckers probely better than malmsteen but malmsteen was the creater of neo classical. how kl does he look?

  • Is there a video of himplaying without an amp? I'd love to hear how hard he picks. Sounds like he picks über gently, bt it's hard to tell...

  • yeah its hard to tell, im feeling he is a hard picker, but hos fretting hand has to be oh so subtle and gentle on those scalloped frets.

  • Gotta love people who think that Yngwie is influenced by Becker when it's completely the other way around.
