I played the original phantasmagoria a 100 times and loved it... Never once EVER until now heard about phantasmagoria II.... FUCK! Anyone know of a retailer who may still sell such an old game?

I have probably clocked this game atleast 10-15 times. It never ever bores me its a game that I can play over and over and still enjoy it.

Another game that comes even closer to this (using the same technology with real actors) is 'The X-Files Game' - released back in 1998. This was a 7 or 8 disk set, again - another excellent Full Motion Video game that you could enjoy over & over again!

this is brilliant, one of my favourite games. I was fortunate enough to play it when i was in high school back in around 2000 and actualy found the creator Lorelei Shannon on her website at the time and talked to her over email about the game and how much i liked it half a decade on. I still love it. It had everything game developers shy away from nowadays. Closest thing we have today is Heavy Rain and that's nowhere near as mind-f***y

I too have a similar story! I grew up playing this game back in 1998 or 99...I remember borrowing two games off a family friend back when I was a kid - those games were 'Quake II' and ofcourse this game - not knowing anything about the games, I quickly begun to absolutely love the game! One of the best games I have ever played and your right - they just dont make them how they used too (probably too expensive nowadays for production) - heck..even Motion Capture is more expensive

Stuff you wouldn't see nowadays, mainly sexual orientation stuff and the f***ed up origin story (trying not to ruin it for the uninitiated). I found it at my local video store for rental and wasn't old enough to rent it, and then suddenly i find it in the bargain bin for sale. Played it and it blew my mind. I never knew what S & M was before that game LOL

I tried getting this to run on Windows 7. For the most part it works very well but the sound quality is terrible. I too, really wish they'd re-release these games. I love FMV's. I can't imagine it'd be really hard to just clean up the video and audio and put them on DVDs. I guess the main issue is it'd be selling to a very small target audience.

This is what I loved MOST about the Phantasmagoria series. Was the storyline and the movie-interactive experience. It was never boring at all so sit their and enjoy all the cut scenes. It was like watching a movie. I just wish more games was developed like this now days. it was just hugely popular thru-out the 90's as it was the era of computers setting the benchmark in "Multimedia" and this was hugely popular back then.

Yeah, from what've I've been only reading about these games, you really need to want them for the story being told and the cinematic-style visuals instead of the actual gameplay.

Yes so true! Maybe re-release the box set again like what they did back in the 90's with that 'Stagefright' box set of the 2x games. Defiantly updated and supported for current operating systems.

I Can ONLY dream that one day, Sierra will make a 3rd Phantasmagoria. I dont really see this happening, it was in the talks a long time ago and just didnt happen. I think Sierra have been bought out by Activision now.

That game is crazy...I actually like some older games like Myst and Riven [originally computer games I have some of them that are for Xbox] more than a lot of new ones. and the graphics are good too. deffinately more than what i was hoping for as I have otherwise only played more current or modern games . also I recently found out about that Myst was named that as a reference to Jules Verne who is my favorite author. I like science fiction that actually contains science and logic.

Yeah I heard it was a piece of shit to run on WindowsXP or later windows.

You need to have Windows 95/98 or ME to run it. I had to reinstall 98 or ME at one point cause I wanted to play the game. Its good once you get into it man :)

Yeah for a 96' game of that time, it was pretty impressive. And I miss 'Full Motion Video" games like these. After playing this, I was fascinated with full motion games. Providing they have a good story line and keep you entertained cause essentially its like watching a movie, just point -click - and watch.

Somehow I have never got bored of this game. I must of replayed it atleast 10 times now and I still dont get sick of it.

Na, the game doesnt have this EXACT song, but comes with better music instead!. Still has the same theme and tone to it. Pretty awesome soundtrack/score to the game, retro to todays standards but still awesome!

yeah a REAL shame they stopped the FMV (full motion video) genre. It slowly faded out and became all 3D based animation. 3 very good FMV games would be Phantas 1 and 2, and the X-Files game. Simply excellent. Ohh! and dont forget Gabrielle Knight, those games are awesome!

Hm. You seem to know a bit about DosBox, so could you tell me how to increase the video/ audio quality while playing P2 on it? The screen is very poor in quality, and the sound is very crinkly. Great game, I want to experience it in full. :3

Sorry. The only trick I know is the classic "ctrl+F12" that comes in the blue window when you start DosBox. I suggest you try their forums for more answers, as I really don't use DosBox that much (only for Elder Scrolls: Arena and Dark Forces).

Yes indeed. Some of Sierra's BEST games ever. They dont make games like this anymore. ANOTHER great game like this was made awhile back (around '98) which was called Dark Dahilia, starring Dennis Hopper. Another close game that i really enjoyed also was the X-Files Game. That too was an interactive movie just like this. I really miss these games...but the cost to make them (our days) would be enormous.
