  • She doesnt deserve to be blamed for. Everyone has bad days. every gymnast makes mistakes and fall. but i still dont get why people go for difficult mounts. if its for connection then i get that, but if not to connect, why risk a fall

  • She looked pissed/about to cry, exactly how I would've responded. Anyways she was great and still is.

  • I love the combination of the pike front and the backlayout. It threw me off bcuz I thot she was gonna do a backtuck

  • @zezeus ok well how bout you get up there and try what she did! i hate when people judge others, when they themselves have done nothing to deserve the right to judge!

  • anyway...she blew it !!!!

  • The Americans wouldn't have won even if Alicia hadn't fallen. I guess it's easier to blame her because it was dramatic. But it's very unfair to blame only her.

  • breaks my heart every time I see that fall. Love her, hope she gets a chance at redemption in London. She's so much better than that.

  • lmao...replay the sound the announcer makes from :43-:44 over and over. It's hilarious.

  • poor thing.

But it's amazing one would count this against her. most people cant even keep their balance on a beam for more than a couple seconds... LET ALONE THE FREAKING CRAZY NINJA STUFF SHE DOES!!!!

  • She looks like Christina Millian

  • I love Alicia. Im an Olympic Hopeful too.

  • I feel sorry 4 her

  • @Missfoodfight37 I dont. I feel happy for her, for making the 2008 Beijing Team. Yes, overshadowed by Nastia and Shawn, but Alicia is still truly excellent !

  • i feel so bad for heer especially since people say its her fault why they lost the gold even tho they wouldnt have won it anyway :(

  • im so saddd i mean aww): to have her beam routine STOP right in the begginning AND @ the Olympics! think of how embaressed she was. she looks like she about to cry. and that even did a front pike onto the beam is amazing. good job alicia(: ahaha

  • I just want to hug her and tell her it's ok. She did so amazing after the fall.

  • She is making a HUGE comback now. I hope she does great at this up coming worlds!

  • LOVE that piked front :D

  • score?

  • it seems like she can really hold a grudge so thats why she messed up on floor

  • I absolutley HATE that everyone is the stands has to go ahhh!! if it were me it would just make me feel worse!! i cant stand that!

  • hey everyone don't forget she was the best at 2005,06,07

She is full of gold medals

and for 1 stupid mistake u're trowing her talent to the trash by trashing her up with words, but she is stronger than u!! haters!!

and don't answer "she threw our gold medal to china" because she didn't but obviously you don't know that ignorants

I hate you so much u "perfect" but stupid people!!

  • She's a really good gymnast, but she falls SO much on beam!

  • its funny how some people are like "oh she fails" when im pretty damn sure i didnt see them at the 2008 olympics...

  • Poor Alicia. If that were me I would had been devastated. The rest of the routine was solid. Great comeback

  • this should be renamed alicia sacramone - olympics 2008 - EPIC FAIL - beam

  • poor Alicia, I would be devistated after that fall, but the rest of the routine was just beautiful :] a great comback.

  • Alicia still did a great job. I hope she comes back for 2012

  • i just wish chellsie memmel is there, not sacramone!

  • Hey im sure Alicia has gone thru this athousand times in her head!!! its over so shes trying to make a comeback so lets erase all the past and start over fresh !!! she knows she fucked up she probably thinks about it all the time.. but i ready to move on so lets all do it ... :)

  • @mmoran3

Isn't she old to make a come back? she's 24 now...

not hating just thinking that gymnasts are usually younger.

I hope she does fullfill her goals.

  • if alcia didnt fall on beam and floor we would have one gold for a second time but unfort she faulterd

  • @gymnist2009 NO WE WOULDNT china wud have won anyway plus nastia and shawn stepped out of bounds so dont go blaming other ppl 4 taking away our gold just cas ur STILL annoyed about it

  • @gymnist2009 considering you cant even spell the word gymnast i doubt you can perform the skill she does. imagine FALLING on your FIRST skill and then having the mental capicty to get through a perfect routine. so yeah, stop being so harsh.

  • @gymnist2009

    youre full of SHITTT.

she doesnt deserve being picked on! infact none of the girls do. you didnt go to the olympics, youre obviously not good enough. and you think you have the right to judge her? nice!

besides they train so hard and so long and are more perfect at their job than anybody else.

all of them did awesome. you should maybe concider that china was just a little bit better and thats why they deserve their gold. maybe next olympics the usa will...

  • @gymnist2009 Not true. If Alicia had hit, China still would have gotten the gold.

  • 0:08 ...

  • Amazing that she was able to finish the entire routine despite the very early slip. Great athlete to say the least.

  • The one thing I hate about American gymnasts: they pout and whine when they mess up. when you see gymnasts of other countries mess up they just keep going and smile no matter what; americans lose their concentration and never smile after that.

  • that's just not true

  • it is

  • no its not, they are so much better than the chinese!

  • @leeny11 who exactly smiles and doesn't show dissappointment? atleast she doesn't storm out of the building like khorkina or slaps her teamates when they make a mistake

  • and you didn't just see her get right back on the beam despite her fall and finish a spectacular routine?

  • @leeny11 Reminder, it was Khorki who stormed out of the arena one time. She was a diva.

  • wow besides that fall this was an awesome beam routine! she makes everything look so easy! ( well thats kinda what gymnasts are supposed to do)

  • my question is is why did nobody verbally obuse courtney kupets, Carly Patterson or Courtney McCool when they messed up during the team final in 04? And why is nobody verbally obusing Shawn or Nastia for their mistakes? Alicia wasnt the only one, and her mistakes simply show that while gymnasts are amazing, they are in fact human.

  • Except for the fall at the beginning, she did really well.

  • This is where I wanted Marta's "Easy Beam Mount" rule to come into play!

  • i hate wen ppl say its juss a front flip on a balance beam no its not it take hard werk n dedication i want 2 see a regula non-trained person even attempt sumthin lyk dat..

  • k sorry dr. phil

  • everyone makes mistake, thats what makes us human

  • THE OTHER GIRLS MADE MISTAKES TOO!!!! shawn johnson stepped out of bounds; yet her fat ass always comes through for herself on individual events. nastia stepped out too. the team lost by 2.375 (yes, some math, something you clearly aren't good at), and her mistakes were less than that, meaning she alone did not lose the gold. they fucked up as a TEAM.

  • They might have fucked up as a team, but to do well enough to get a medal, even with the mistakes that all of them made, shows how good they were. Stepping out of bounds, and falling a couple of times were part of it, but most of their routines were pretty close to perfect, which is why they ended up with silver.

  • @comanecisalto1 Whoa, whoa. There's no need to call Shawn Johnson, an elite gymnast, fat.

  • @theghastlypirate She is, though.

  • @zabag Oh yeah, because elite gymnasts are so fat. When she did the Olympics she was pure muscle and now is getting back into that shape again. If you think she's fat you need better eyesight.

  • @zabag bullshit, that's what a mature woman is supposed to look like, instead of a teenager with no curves anywhere. Muscle weighs more than fat, any idiot knows that, except for you maybe.....

  • @tmwalkerm That's not what Khorkina, Boginskaya, Xuan, Eremia, etc. looked like when they retired, though.

  • @zabag and your point is???? Still doesn't make her fat, get your effing eyes examined or ask them to step on a scale and do a BMI test. Who are you to judge anyone?

  • @zabag fact that she can even HIT the beam with a front salto mount is something.. and by the way she used it in her OLYMPIC TEAM FINAL ROUTINE im guessing she nailed it in her practices. Her weight is not something that somebody, like you, a gymnastics nobody, should be commenting on. Shes not fat, shes an athlete, and one who did damn good to make the team and perform to a level far beyond 99% of the worlds population, fall or no fall!!

  • @zabag

yes, but no offence to them, they are freaks of nature, that are one of the few gifted with absolutely NO excess body weight.

  • Listen, buddy, even though I was voting for the Chinese to win, I don't think it was all her fault, okay? Don't go badmouthing her like that.

  • @KazeXStar Team US had no chance... China went there with the advantage of a higer level of difficult and more innovative work, and US needed China to Falter.

  • no u.s. team will be as good as the mag. 7 or as strong, i really doubt unless we get someone like Shannon Miller or Dominque dawes on the team for London we dont have a chance

  • I guess the US and China are lucky Romania didn't have a stronger team that year. They usually capitalize on those kind of mistakes:P

Anyhoo, it's unfortunate she fell. Her routine was very solid. I actually think the fall gave her that extra drive to pull forward. Good on ya, Alicia;)

  • I think it's the new Code of Points that really hurt Romania's team. China always had great difficulty on beam and uneven bars but was never fully rewarded for it in the past. The USA also benefited cause they were capable of amping up difficulty while being consistent for the most part in competition.

  • was marks deducted off her leap? (which didn't reach 180 degrees) just wondering

  • yes,she fell woah

    whoop whoop whoop!!!!!!

  • so so so disappointing.

  • I feel so sorry for her that she fell. The rest of the routine is great. But about the final result of the teams final, I don't think we can really complain that much. It's true that China's Cheng Fei fell the beam too, but then there's no other major problems with the Chinese team's performance, however sadly Alicia fell again in her floor routine and that I guess put the team's fate in jeopardy. When 2 teams are both so good, the better result usually goes to the one that fails less. really.

  • i cant believe she still can continue after that fall o.O she really is determine (: and the rest of her routine's awesome. Pity about the fall ):

  • Sans the fall this is actually a good routine. She is a powerful gymnast, just look at the height on that double pike dismount.

  • Your a god damb moron PaigeASioux. She wasn't the only one who fell. The Asians did the same thing. Her performace besides the fall was excellent.

  • i feel sorry for her.... she fell, she didnt deserve it. the routine was SOLID besides the fall

  • she makes it lok sooo easy

  • it also may have had something to do with how long the judges kept her waiting AFTER her name had been announced.........

  • @randomness132

oh please. you believe in the crap martha karolyi brainwashes you guys with?

  • is she ganna be in the 09 olympics?

  • there isnt and 09 olympics, the olympics are every 4 years

  • she fell,so what?!Her beam is really good! Im def. she didnt plan on falling!!!Cut her some slack she's a fantastic gymnast

  • she is training again!

  • I know, I am so happy about that. She is one of the most beautiful gymnast ever. She doesn't just through elements but she commits to them a 100 percent and executes them perfectly. Sometimes she tries to be perfect just a little too much and it end sin a fall but overall gorg gymnast and the US really could use her, especially on vault and floor.

  • The rest of this beam routine is so SOLID, it kills me she fell. I've been watching Alicia since 2004 and watching her overcome all of her struggles, I can't imagine how this felt to her.

  • @snazziest212 not completely solid. she had two slight waivers after the turn

  • No one will put her in Bill Buckner's category so that's a damn good thing. She's pretty damn smart too, going to Brown University but I hear she's thinking about transferring.

  • I really hope she didn't beat herself up too bad about the fall. It wasn't all her fault.

  • lol whos fault was it

  • As the commentator stated in this video, the fall carries a .8 deduction. The U.S. team lost to China by more than .8, so it was not only this fall that caused them to lose the gold medal. Simple math, there's your answer.

  • So unfortunate the mistakes she made. Her beam was solid, and she was the floor champion at one time as well. Im sure it was the nerves of being at the Olympics, yknow

  • thats really true! i cant believe that all these people are saying its all alicia's fault, because its not. They probably even took off more points than they should have for that fall...

  • @xovholland94

no, there were errors in the rest of her routine.

  • That's not fair. Not to sound cliche, but you try doing all that and landing on 4" every time.

  • this was soooooooo sad! :(

check out my alicia video! WE LOVE YOU ALICIA! <3

  • is sacramone Italian or Hispanic?

  • Italian

  • I don't know how on earth she could finish that routine after falling like that. That takes ALOT of drive. Think about all the pressure she had on her and all the people watching in the arena and millions of tv veiwers.

  • Love u Alicia! Don't pay attention to these haters. ALICIA 4EVER! =)

  • Damn she fucked up.

  • I love the landing on her fronts... so soft, like the beam was a mattress!

  • I still have a hard time watching this!! =/

Though I feel that China was going to win even if US hit 12|12.. it was heartbreaking to watch Alicia struggle. The rest of the routine was so good.

When she goes down on her cheststand, it looks like she wants to bury her face into the beam.. =/ I'm glad she stayed so solid for the rest of the routine though!!

  • You're right. The rest of the routine was great!

    Poor Alicia... =/

  • This was such a gorgeous routine! Too bad about the begginning. But every gymnast falls.. :) I feel so bad for her.. but that was so amazing- the rest of it!

  • I remember watching her fall. I felt so sad for her after working s hard her whole life to get there, She is very talented but not perfect so everyone leave her alone, remember, she made it into the olympics and you didn't

  • Can you imagine working your whole life to go to Beijing? Let alone even qualify for it. That was Alicia's hopes and dreams. I hate all these rude comments - Overweight - She did horrible - I hate her.. Alicia worked 30-40 hours each week just to make it because last time she didn't. She finally made it and placed 4th in Beijing and she might have had 3rd if it wasn't for this fall. Can you imagine working your whole life for this, and then it just slips through your fingers?

  • Thank You, all the these jerks are practically saying only she can fall. Atleast someone has some sense and knows is could have happened to anybody.

  • She did her best. It wasnt just one gymnast who made us loose fyi.

  • True, but when she fucked, she really FUCKED up and it gained a lot of attention.

  • You guys. Honestly. Alicia has worked her butt to get to the olympics and she is better than all of you. The fall on beam affected the rest of her meet, and this happens to most gymnasts. Even without her falls China still would've beaten us so why make her feel even worse about herself? These things happen and we should be happy to see somoeone acutally take a risk on their mount.

Plus, its the olympics, they are here for us to have fun and come together as a world. Lay off Alicia rocks(:

  • why are you so rude?

  • I think that the USA team was underscored on floor. Shawn Johnson scored 15.100, at EF she scored 15.500 with a big step, happened the same with nastia

thats not at all alicia's fault

  • i love this girl

  • that fall wasnt because shes not skilled. its ALL mental. u could tell right when she landed that she had no confidence. its all body language.

  • I STILL cry watching this :(

  • get over it already hon

  • LOL.

  • she looks like she wants to cry when she falls the first time..

..poor her. She definitely put a lot of work in.

  • ah when she fell i just thought 'man i feel you' ah i feel so bad:/

  • im guess beam isnt her strongest event...I STILL LOVE HER!

  • beam is one of her strongests, but i think she was under really big pressure!

  • i love how she fell on the first move

  • i feel that people think its her fault she lost i do a little bit 2 but we dnt have to go point the finger

  • She is one of the best on beam, she scored 15.950 at qual and placed 4th. She would have medaled just because that stupid rule "2 per country". She is a very good gymnast, stop disturbing her!!

  • BTW.... She is not the only reasen USA did not win GOLD!!! ON bars nastia had the problem with her dismount and so did chels not jamming to handstand.... Shawn and nastia went out of bounds on floor!!! So although is easy to blame her DON'T... She did her BEST!!! I think that you are AWESOME ALICIA!!!!!

  • She sucked! She had a crappy beam floor and vault! We counted on her vault and she sucked!

  • its a team sport. u cant just rely on person to win the gold! the other members of the US Gymnastics team could have done better 2 so dont blame Alicia for losing the gold, when the whole team lost it for each other.

  • The other members of the team all performed near or at their best ability. Alicia is the only one who failed to do that.

  • one teammate can NOT lose the goal!!!! the other ppl didn't do well either. They all lost it. They weren't determined. Alicia did NOT lose the USA the gold like nmshocker said nastia had problems on bars AND floor but your blaming alicia. Nastia had two goofs, Alicia had one, and so did Shawn so it is not Alicia's fault! USA just didn't do well that day. So don't blame Alicia on losing when it was the whole team.

  • I was actually reading what you wrote until you got to the part where you said Alicia had only one mistake. She fell on beam and floor. 1+1=2. Also, you cannot compare a fall to a step out of bounds, they are not the same things.

  • A fall and a step out both make your score decline. so how are they not the same thing? But still if your saying Alicia had 2 goofs so did Nastia. So what does it matter that theres a difference between fall and a step out, they both r goofs so they, both, and Shawn helped not win gold. It wasn't only Alicia.

  • A fall makes your score decline by .8, a step makes your score decline by .1. Therefore Nastia, Shawn, AND ALICIA (who ALSO stepped out on floor) made minor bobbles on floor, whereas Alicia also had two MAJOR errors with falls. And no, Nastia did not have a major error on bars. She sat down her bar dismount during prelims, which DOES NOT count towards the medal. She hit her bar routine during finals. Sorry to disappoint you.

  • But she didnt lose the gold 4 US its like baseball if one player (thats a good hitter) strikes out n so does another players on the team n by the end of the game the team lost the championships it is NOT because of the good hitter getting a strikeout its the whole team. they could have all done better. Im not saying Alicia did anything bad She did. She fell, but she didn't cause the team 2 lose the goal. The TEAM lost the goal together. U lose 2gether n u win 2gether thats what being a team is

  • So basically you can't respond to anything I said, because I had the right facts and you had the wrong ones, so now you're going to the whole, "they win and lose as a team". Sure they do... they all got silver together. But you have no idea what would have happened had Alicia not had so many errors... they could have won gold.

  • "So many errors?" SHE MADE 2 ERRORS!!! you can't be perfect! and the rest of her beam routine she did fine with. She actually landed her dismount. Sure they could have won the gold, but everyone's heads weren't in for the win so they didn't they place Silver.

  • Her "errors" are more than just a step on the landing or a step out of bounds. She fell on 2 events in a 3 up 3 count format. You can't win after that. Nobdoy was perfect, but you can stand up your routines... that's what you train your whole life for. NOt to mention after she fell on floor she didn't even really complete her routine, you can tell on her ending poses she gave up. That's not what champions do. SHe has a bad attitude, we saw that it Stuttgart when she lost floor finals.

  • i totally agree with you!

  • Fell on the beam -0.8 point. fell on her ass on floor... -0.8 again. stepped out of bounds 3 time -0.3 for a subtotal of -1.9 points just by alicia alone. we lost by 1.47... so yeah we could have won

  • Wow... you are sorely confused. First, team USA lost by 2.375. Second, Alicia stepped out of bounds ONE time on floor for .1 off (in prelims, which do not count toward the team finals score, she landed out of bounds which cost her .3). She cost the team 1.7, much less than the 2.375 they lost by.

  • not rlly...

  • The major bobble on her full turn on beam. Don't forget that error. and don't forget that because she fell on beam she didn't connect her mount to that back tuck she normally does. so she also loses connection value therefore her beam SV was lowered also.

  • true story. we could have won gold cuz alicas mistakes added up to 1.9 and we lost by 1.47... it's frustrating but she has to live with it forever

  • Id like to see you do better. Its not all her fault, and besides every great gymnast falls sometimes.

  • I'm not blaming anyone, but when Alicia fell off beam and floor she put more pressure on Shawn and Nastia, and I give those two girls props for delivering to the best of their ablilty due to the circumstances

  • Alicia had a meltdown at the wrong time, it happens, but I'm not shocked she was the one choked, it isn't like she has a clean history, with all the balance checks she had performing on beam I just knew one day she was going to fall off.

  • wow china can do better than that >.> cant even start?

  • Sigh...It's so sad that she fell on her first and last Olympic game...and she probably felt sad 'cause she didn't help USA team to win gold.

  • that was Alicia's last performance at the Olympic Games?

  • Yes, she's retired now...sigh

  • awh! thats so sad! does she do other competitions or is she retired from gymnastics forever?

  • i'd like to see you even try to do HALF the things she does. get to the olympics & then you can talk stupid ass bitch.

  • thanks alot alicia i appreciated this. all of detroit was behind her during this woefull routine.

  • She lost us the Gold

  • every 1 makes mistakes even the best dont fink u shud pass comments like that ur obviously not an athlete

  • ..welllll actually i'm a division 1 football player...

  • i dident say u dident do sport i said you wernt an athlete and u obviously aint or else u would have a bit of respect dont tell me you have never made an error in your sport

  • you dont play football on a for inch beam do you?

  • ha BUT ur right...mistakes happen. whatev

  • why don't you go up and perform and see how difficult that is?

  • Yopu wouldn't win it anyways according people who knows this sport better than any of you

  • why don't you try a front flip on the beam maybe you'll even lose us bronze

  • lol good one!!

  • Even if Alicia hadn't fallen on either beam or floor, China would still have won.

  • she did NOT lose us the gold!!!!!!!! lets see you try and do a routine that difficult under all of that pressure with practically the whole WORLD watching you!!!!
