  • I have a reail big tub ( drawer) could i put a leo in there just on btw its a 47.6cm x 38.7cm x 67cm

  • wpuld excavator clay substrate or eco earth work?

  • can u also use aspen?

  • i have three leopard geckos in a 10 gal and i was wondering what size would be better for them?

  • @EpiKProphecy09 20 to 30 gal

  • @EpiKProphecy09

3 leopard geckos in a 10 gallon? I recommend a 25 gallon long glass tank for three geckos. :)

  • Ya the petco people told me the same thing about sand.

  • You clearly don't know what your talking about. Sand is the best because that's where they live they live in sand, you need to feed the gecko the right amount of calcium which helps digest and get the sand out of the geckos sand.

  • @NERFDUDE87 Don't use sand everything he said is right. I wanted sand too and I ended up getting some mat thing made by Zilla. It looks good and theres no risk of impaction, please don't use sand

  • I wouldnt use any.loose substrate I would reccomend reptile carpet paper towel or.news paper definetly not sand

  • i use sand and my sand says reduces chances of impacion sorry if i spelt that wrong

  • party with the big mac commercial is PISSING ME OFF

  • why do you make all of these videos about care and food they tell you that at petsmart

  • what bout repti carpet and or crushed up walnut

  • @mrlaxplayer101 repti carpet is ok but crushed walnut is badd!!!

  • Can i use playsand for my leopereds.Pm me with the awnser.

  • is natural sand okay sand that comes from the beach

  • @threeflyingpigs NO ARE U KIDDING ME

  • i dont see why people complain about eco earth it doesnt cause impacyion its made from coconut so it can be digested by the animal and passes through harmlessly

  • This is absolutely disgusting. Every single one of these can irritate your geckos eyes and make them very uncomfortable. I've seen it in pet stores with unfortunate water dragons and other animals. Eyes so irritated theyre about swollen shut, oozing fluid. The only thing i recommend is carpet. No way they can ingest THAT or get it in their eyes I:< AND it's machine washable. USE IT FOREVAR.

  • can you use paper

  • What about reptocarpet and stuff like that?

  • i got told ur not supposed to use bark is that not true??

  • @20hayden11 It's not good to use for any lizard. It's popular because of the cool forested affect it can give lizards that live in a more rainforesty setting, but there's a big chance that the pet may miss it's moving food and swallow the bark/sand. It can get lodged into their stomach or intestines and block digested food from leaving the reptiles body. This is called impacting, and can/most likely will kill your pet.

  • can i use window screen for the substraight becuase it worcked for my old skin

  • popa my ear

  • lol when he say that people say they have had there leopard gecko on sand forever it sounds like there smoking some kind of crack

  • LOL tetris inside your lizard

  • what about zilla's ground english walnut shells?

  • me agree

  • he's better than the other person from expertvillage the girl she said that you should have your gecko in sand and have the place were they pee wet whch causes burns or bruises

  • Oh thank you i was guna put sand in my geckos tank but now im not. Thanks to you!So im going to youse the bark.

  • at least this guy has more sense that that girl the did iguanas.

  • @RTSstation Very true, he actually seems to know what hes talking about

  • vita sand all the way my leo's love it and i have had them for three years

  • U know that coconut substrate that leopard gecko can eat it? :DD

  • LOL!

  • what are the proper temperatures for leopard geckos?

  • what about reptile carpet?

  • @CrossFireAddic hey man its the best

  • you do not want to use coconut fiber its ok to have a shed bow with it but i highly do not recommond anything but sand walnut shells are excellent

  • nice video

  • I subbed you can you sub me back

  • so you can use natural sand? bc i have a place near me that filters sand and stuff and i use the sand in my fish tank.

  • @allaboutfish1996 as long as you know its natural cause natural sand is like a cirle little bit so it can got thrue them easily

  • @CrossFireAddic Yes it is very well to use with any age of leopard geckos.

  • Were do u buy the coco substrate

  • this heating is really confusing, could you tell me the right wattage for basking, night bulb, day bulb..how do keep the heat right? is it ok to use repti carpet on adults? do you keep the basking bulb on at night?do u keep the night bulb on inthe day, also do you have to feed your gecko meal/wax worms or can you just stick with crickets? i have alot of questions because everyone has their own theory im just eally confused with the whole wattage thing.... is a 10 gallon god 4a geko fulsize?

  • this heating is really confusing, could you tell me the right wattage for basking, night bulb, day bulb..how do keep the heat right? is it ok to use repti carpet on adults? do you keep the basking bulb on at night?do u keep the night bulb on inthe day, also do you have to feed your gecko meal/wax worms or can you just stick with crickets? i have alot of questions because everyone has their own theory im just eally confused with the whole wattage thing.... is a ten gallon god 4a geko fulsize?

  • wut if my juvinile starts to eat the cocunut fibers?

  • Cant they get mites from the coconut husk? I just got a baby gecko and they said the sand was fine. :/

  • OMG call national geographic! this guy is the missing link in evolution!

  • i use paper towles is that ok?

  • Reptile Carpet is also good, espescially with babies (the wood can hurt their sensitive skin).

  • @mikeysparkman i have passed this so i will help you if your gecko is still alive. get warm water as high as its knees. let it for 30 minutes and then make it massage for 10 minutes. your gecko will make poops when it relax at the night. sorry for bad english. hope i helped

  • 7 people use sand

  • @generalfield but now it's too late for their geckos

  • what if my leo eats the cocunut stuff?

  • @generalfield nothing.

  • This is the only reptile person at expert village that knows what he's talking about. He actually cares about the animal.

  • What if you feed your gecko off the sand, is it safe then?

  • cool

  • thank u soooo much about how bad sand is. 1 of my leos got impacted but shes fine now. i switched to douglas fir shavings and aspen

    ;D

  • can you use things like ripped up tissue paper?

  • @kmtatyou noooo if they eat the tissue that can hurt them because of the chemicals in tissues

  • watch?v=QdrrU6kc4K0 (leave a comment plz)

  • I have zoo med coconut substrate for my crested geckos and I am getting a leopard gecko this Thursday, so I just want to double check if that's ok for my soon to be leopard gecko? Sometimes my cresties eat the substrate and they seem to be fine afterwards I don't know if that will be the same case with a leopard? Sorry for the mix of questions.

  • why dont any of these people reccomend repti-carpet?

  • you are a lot smarter than my petco ppls

  • Comment removed

  • im using sand in my tank, and most of it isn't even sand, its ground up walnut shells. is that okay?

  • @xavierextasy I love ground english walnut. They look as good as sand but they won't cause impaction.

  • @xavierextasy so, its good to use walnut then? cause i noticed everytime they eat. they ingest a little of it.....will i go through there digestive system?

  • I would highly recommend Tiles or reptile carpet by if you use loose substrates be sure to pack it down and if you choose to use sand wet it down and pack it because it becomes very hard.

  • @KomedicDanish hey plz reply. what about clay burrowing substrate? this sand cause impaction too or is it safe? PLZ ANSWER ASAP

  • @NicKtheGreeK1100 the clay burrowing substrate? like the one you wet and mould? if so then it should be fine as long as you make sure that there is as little to none loose areas as possible.

  • @KomedicDanish yes i mean this substrate. you buy it as sand and when you wet it is like clay. is this sand safe for leopard geckos or it can cause impaction too? thnx for the reply

  • @NicKtheGreeK1100 i personally wouldn't use it, because i like to stay on the safe side but like i said above if you harden it enough(close to no loose patches) it should be fine. Just be sure to keep an eye on your leopard gecko.

  • @KomedicDanish ok thx for the help!

  • is the coco fiber bedding ok??? or is rep carpet better

  • a vet and im sure to be next

we are located in staten island ny and i am proud to be here sharing my knowlege.i have dealt with tegus moniters leopard geckos golden geckos water dragons basikils collared lizards and much much much more!if you need help send me a message

  • Could you use normal beach or desert sand then? Also what's the problem with Eco Earth? I was going to follow what this guy did: watch?v=_fNMEeEdVmM

  • @ilabstudios eco earth is like sand it causes impaction and keeps the humidity TO high

  • OMG it's Matt hardy jk lol

  • playing tetris inside ur reptile... nice one

  • is it okay if i use sand as long as its no calcium sand anyone ?

  • @2010colony No, any kind of sand or particle based substrate is horrible. This guy has no clue what he's talking about. Wood chips are even worse than sand... if your leo happens to eat a small broken piece, it can rip up their intestines which pretty much guarantees death. Coconut fiber can also cause impaction so don't use it. Paper towels are the best with reptile specific carpet, tile, or shelf liner as other possible substrates.

  • what if i use sand that i got from a park

  • @derrick4508 it wood get sick and die cuz the sand at the park is really dirty and their desert animals and park sand isn't their tip of sand

  • @derrick4508 no

  • Paper towels: The Best

    Reptile carpet: cool

    Douglas fur bark/Repti bark: OK

    Eco Earth: Never

    Calcium sand: PIECE OF SHIT

  • @12346steven Why never Eco earth?

  • your naming shitiest to best

  • @12346steven What about Slate Tiles?

  • @12346steven never had a problem with sand a geckos almost 15

  • @12346steven dude witch one looks better.. douglas fur or paper towel.. and he didn't sudjest them

  • @12346steven my dads gecko is 20 and has had sand its whole life

  • @12346steven actually sand is perfect for large geckos

  • @12346steven im new the repi world why no eco earth?

  • @keeton520 cause impaction on leopard geckos

  • @12346steven my fat tail ate a lil of it wen tryn to get a cricket he popped a big o turd the next day but he did alot of crickets and he ate the next time i fed him im hoping he'll be okay i put eco earth and now a thin sheet like one u use for tables it keep humdity good to and no mouth ful of eco earth and doent look to bad either i did that for all my gecko like i said im new to it maybe a month or less im looking for a raptor leo with gaint genes

  • @12346steven i wouldnt use paper towel if your gonna use a heat mat however

  • @12346steven you can use paper towels sweat realy

  • wait the lady had me get sand.....ooooooooooohhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooo

  • thus, if ur going to feed ur animal outside of its home ( like your supoosed to ) the sand is much nicer for living conditions.

  • OMFG, another tard from expert village... sand is the best for 2 reasons.

    1. it holds heat very well especialy at night when they lights go out.

    2. i've had about enough of all this impaction BS, dont feed your leopard gecko or any animal inside their home, people with snakes know this best, it creats hostility so that anything you put inside the tank apears as food, this is true. if you feed ur animal outside its home in a feeder box, it will eliminate the possibility of imaction.

  • Oh, also, does getting a heat lamp increase the humitidy? I haven't used a heat lamp, I've just put a little heating pad under his rock.

  • You're really helpful. I've had my gecko for about 3 years and I have always used crushed walnuts because I was told that's the best thing to use for baby leapord geckos. But I was noticing that extra skin wasn't peeling off of his toes. I read in my gecko book and it said normally those symptoms are from lack of humitidy. I think the walnuts were a little dry, so, does using the bark as bedding in crease the humitidy?

  • is it okay to keep loess on crushed walnut????

  • fat monkey explains well

  • @deathvideos900 hahahahahahaa xD

  • @deathvideos900 lol he does look like a monkey

  • @deathvideos900 why would u say that hes helping us and educating us on keeping lizards

  • @deathvideos900 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha lololololololoololololololololololololllololl

  • @deathvideos900 lol...And I assume you look like prince charming?

  • I have had my lizards close to hmm lets say 6 years and i have them on a walnut crushed substrate and they ingest bits of it but it passes through their digestive system well never have i came across any of them changing up their voracious eating habits thank goodness any advice would be nice =]

  • i use natural sand and put under water in a freezer for a week for my gecko and i use clay type substrate for my ANOLE it does not cause impaction and they can burrow and make tunnels with it

  • i watched all the vidoes. u helped me out so much, thank ur alot

  • @xxk0bsterxx I really dont hope for you, that you followed his, "Dont use sand, its dangerous".

Its an animal, originating from the deserts around Afghanistan, Pakistan and the northwestern part of India. Do you think they run around with sunglasses on? Or that there is people running around moving them to "better" places? Just get your sand in a proper size, and not the smallest size you can find.

  • @Kornsnogen Retard. they do not live on sand in the wild, they live in rocky areas and soem grasslands. do some research before you come here acting like you know something. fuckin noob

  • @AlphaGeckos You clearly cant read, as yoy really havnt read what I wrote. If you are using sand, as substrate, then dont the get finest sand you can find. And please, do you own research, as this is about the gecko getting, "dust in it eyes", and no matter where in the world you are, earth, will get dusty, when dry.

  • @AlphaGeckos you said they don't live on sand, but some people use it as bedding even though you shouldn't, which is what he meant. "Retard"

  • @aleoparddragon6778 no no nnnnoooooooo!!!!!!

  • @slimfanboy313 actually they do kind of use one corner of the cage as a bathroom.

  • i was told to use reptile carpet is that okay???

  • @MoneyMaka4657733 Yes. Thats PERFECT. any loose substrate is BAD BAD BAD.

  • @MoneyMaka4657733 yes that is the best thing for a leopard gecko

  • @MoneyMaka4657733 you could also use unglazed slate tile, looks nice, its washable, no wait for it to dry, and no risk of catching claws in it

cost less than $20 to do the bottom of my 40 gallon breeder with.

  • @MoneyMaka4657733 yeah they can get claws caught in it

  • @MoneyMaka4657733 but yeah dontise stuff they will get them cought on

  • geckos dont "use th bathroom"

  • "They cant properly use the bathroom and eventually die" - xd since when did reptiles use the bathroom they shit wherever they feel like it.

  • Comment removed

  • @PolskiSmok24 mine always go in one corner

  • expert village has 3 "experts" and they all have different opinions

the girl they have loves calcium sand and this guy hates it!

    i hate sand

    no to impaction

  • And from the bottom the sand says its digestible and ingestible, and I know sombody that has kept a leopard gecko for over 5 years and now is selling it, she has 2 leopard geckos. I name my leopard gecko Leonardo, got him today!

  • I use calci-sand from T-Rex, but it's so fine it's almost powder. Is that ok?

  • @cloudcally no. some are fine all their lives, some get impacted, but the risk is pretty high. get paper towels, they are cheap, easy to clean and 100% safe. believe me, geckos are addictive and if you really care for your pet you won't take the risk

  • i git one to day and they recamended sand over bark stuff i dont no i may change to carpet after sand pritty helpful vidios keepem comeing

  • I sugest Reptile Carpet.

  • i would really recommend paper towels best thing for them and most inexpensive and super easy to clean if you look on my channel im gonna make a leopard gecko care video today

  • im so sad before people started talking about impaction mine got impacted

  • Can you send me a list of what I need? Please!!!!

  • I've heard bad things about sand, but I've found my Leo seems happiest in sand. I've tried cardboard, carpeting, and paper. I don't feed him in the sand, and haven't noticed him eating it or any other problems. Sand holds a constant humidity very well. I guess it all depends on your gecko.

  • My PS is not so great either. I was considered lucky to find a brand new colorful gecko there which I bought. The rest in the tank were hissing and injured. My gecko I bought from there was not injured or harmed and healthy. Hes still going strong. Growing too! As soon as I heard this I put all of the sand in the tank in a container and put reptile carpet in there.

  • @leopardgecko3797 Fancy that; I still will never buy one from PS. They're crap and mistreat most of their animals. I prefer to keep local businesses IN business. If that means I spend a little more on my "Average" Gecko then I will spend a little more because the smaller places care. Plus if my gecko isn't doing well i can bring him/her in for free and have them look it over. My most expensive is Blazing Blizzard Mack Super Snow Leopard Gecko which was $280

  • @leopardgecko3797 I wouldn't get one from PS if my life depended on it. I tried to get one from there but it was terribly sick and injured. If you are a true lover of Geckos and really want something that's "You" You can find a breeder that will do morphs and you can get something truly fun and your own. The ones from PS are shipped in and usually not treated correctly. I have gone to my local one and corrected their keepers on the temperature of the cage as well as the lack of hides

  • @TheDynamicduo14 Absolutely; carpet and roll out shelf liner are all recommended some even go to the dollar store and get some of those tiles, or they use ceramic tile pieces :)

  • @leopardgecko3797 Play sand is typically NATURAL sand and is circular and has the ability to pass... the sand from a store is cubed and cannot pass, or can cause ulcerations in the stomach of a lizard. It can take up to 3-4 years for impaction to show.

  • can u use exo terra calcium sand??

  • @tixon434 Not recommended it's not natural and can cause impaction.

  • can i use loose coconut fiber?

  • @sodaboy69able Cos we're not all damn arseholes?

  • @polkadotpants its a fukin lizard. they aint that expensive

  • @sodaboy69able That went way over your head there didn't it.

  • @polkadotpants u better fuckin believe that shit

  • @sodaboy69able you have issues

  • @HaruTouga me. u guys r the ones waching videos over fuckin lizards

  • @sodaboy69able Leopard Geckos ARE expensive. Especially the upper morphs, they can go for $400-$500 a piece.

  • thank you help a lot

  • can u use woodshavings from the local pet my friend has used it for the the past 5 years

  • fuck you-_- lizards r alive organisms, like tiny little ants... also we r alive... think about it.. a huge big fat monster bought u and monster doesnt giv the fucking foods. do u like it u idiot....

(about video) we could use kitchen towl 4 babies and we could make a house with a box like this shape ^ ....

  • Wat about those mats,

  • @supercarrot4 Do you mean Reptile Carpit? I have it.

  • wat about the walnut grounds

  • don't use reptie bark wolfman is a fool use the coco fiber in a moist hide only no sand at all get reptile carpet it is the safetest substrate if u dont want ur gecko to die, use repti carpet he might no stuff but he is not good on the substrate

  • they donT live on sand tthey live on hard clay

  • I see no harm in sand geckos live in the desert
