@Stoksie01 Like André the Giant, Paul Wight used to have acromegaly, a disease of the endocrine system. Wight underwent successful surgery in the early 1990s on his pituitary gland which halted the progress of this condition.
@AniMetalTV Um 7ft 2 is smaller then 6'11? he only got slightly shorter cause they had to do surgery on his legs amongst other things, hence why he was using crutches following WrestleMania 6 leading upto his death.
and he was 7ft 4, when he started out in WWF he was just under 7ft. hence why guys like Hogan where atleast a full foot shorter then and to look upto him when they are clearly alot taller then the average 6ft person. Not everything in wrestling is made up.
@BigDamnBrowncoat13 you can check out his Biography to see the true, do not check on Wikipedia, Andre's true high was 6'11 3/4" or 7'0" (2.13m).. because the biography is the most far.
The man who is talking ins not Hulk Hogan idiotas...this is fake...André the Giant died in his sleep due to congestive heart failure on the night of January 27, 1993, in a Paris hotel room.[1][66] At the time, he was in Paris to attend the funeral of his father
Hulk Hogan was and is a selfish Man who thinks only about himself. He would never be there where he is today without this Mentality. He was one of my Favorite Wrestlers of the 80`s but it is not all gold that shines.and many years later i realize that can`t be a successful Man like him, making so much Money and be a Decade one of the Top Superstars without that Attitude and keeping Others Down.It ist simply sad and my Ideals Hogan being a good Role Model was destroyed.Today i don`t like him anymore
@halan2008 Hogan said "Andre hurt very badly that night. He needed back surgery. He was in big trouble. And the clock was ticking down. He died shortly after that. So I knew he was in a lot of trouble that night. But I just didn't know that his life was getting close to being over."
@gamelvr1 - as terminat1 says, 6 years is short when you're talking about life and death. I bet if I told you you would die in 6 years you wouldn't be too pleased. Andre was in very bad condition and was suffering at WM3.
with all do respect....I can't believe a word that comes out of Hogan's mouth. I read both of his books, and he is NOT the man I thought he was.
Andre did him the biggest favor, gave him the biggest honor, and Hogan couldn't give it back to up and comer Bret Hart years later, but does the favor for Yukozuna?
Hogan is the top draw of the 80's and 90's, if not all time. But, he's an ego centric moron who was pretty lucky Andre put him over. He refused to do that for many wrestlers, unless he got something big in return.
A green midget told me to never underestimate the revisionist powers of Hulk Hogan. Just think of the tales his grandchildren will be telling 40 years from now:
"It was just like when Christopher Colombollea and Amerigo Vesbeefcake discovered the Western world, amigo, and they slaaaaaaammed the 700-pound King George, brother. The pilgrims knew then, brother, that Hulk-a-mania and the Big Man Upstairs (Brianus von Knobbs) would live forever. Brother."
Listen, children...if you are ever blessed enough to meet and work with someone like Andre and watch him die so young, six years will seem like nothing, and you will finally understand.
I saw W3 live with my buds and we all thought it was Andre's last match. We were cheering him on and everybody started booing us. He looked like he was on death's ring apron.
@elcidviscoso You probably think that was witty...it wasn't....Respect the man and just say RIP and leave it at that...all that "Death's ring apron" shit can go somewhere.
I have a feeling that this video was just being shown while Hulk Hogan was talking about Andre's death. I find in hard to believe that Hulk Hogan would actually think that people would believe that Andre the Giant died shortly after Wrestlemania III. This video was in March 1987 and Andre didn't pass away until January 1993.
@JoeySymphony Everything's relative. In the grand scheme of things, or even when considering Andre's 46-year lifetime, 6 years can seem like a relatively short amount of time.
@johnnyrainbow50 I always wondered that too, why people keep saying that he died not too long after this match. I remember him being at SummerSlam 91 after Earthquake "crushed his knee" cause he didnt want to join Bobby the Brain Heenan. Yes I'm that old
@puckleberry28 you mean Jimmy Hart. Tugboat/Typhoon/Shockmaster was hardly a compensation for the awesomeness that an Earthquake+André tag team would be... Yes, I'm that old too ;)
@puckleberry28 Everything's relative. In the grand scheme of things, or even when considering Andre's 46-year lifetime, 6 years can seem like a relatively short amount of time.
@Beerlover2007 It was his size that caused congestive heart failure. He had acromegaly, a pituitary disease that caused his body to continue growing (his bone structure was pretty messed up because of it - intense back pain, etc.). Basically his body outgrew his heart and that's why his heart failed.
@Deeky74 Yep. The only inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 1993.....it was Andre that helped create the Hall of Fame....thank you Andre. We miss you....
@danteras23 Um is Hulk actually talking about Andre being close to dying after their wrestling match? All I hear is Hulk talking about Andres final night on earth. He didnt mention anything about their match?? Its just because what he is said is edited over their match coupled with the video uploaders comments in the description box that makes everyone assume that Hulk is seeing the same footage we are seeing and commenting on Andre. Just pointing out what I noticed from this vid.
@CelticJobber2 Thats why I dont think Hulk is making a reference to Andres death and a 'wrestling match'. If anything, shouldn't footage be of Wrestlemania IV (last time they met in the ring) NOT Wrestlemania III. And if you listen to what hulk says without watching the actual video. Can you please explain to me where Hulk says 'their match'. All I hear is 'that night' which can mean any night including the night that Hulk found out Andre was really ill circa '92.
@franciswhizzite This is from a documentary called The Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling, this is from a segment where they were talking about Wrestlemania 3 and how Andre "passed the torch" to Hogan that night.
@CelticJobber2 Whoops haha, I'll admit my bad then. Hogan really is a self centered idiot. Does this documentary have any stuff from Andre's early days?
How the hell is nearly 6 years, considered "a short time after that"? I understand a little BSing to build up Andre's legend, but, also, the 698lb claim that Hogan started tossing around in 2002-->, is bogus, the man was about 6'10, and damn well weighed 500~lbs when Hogan faced him at WM3, over 500 fucking lbs, why the hell would you NEED to exaggerate that lmfao
@NWpowerhouse85 That's what I was thinking. Andre died in 1993. The WM match was in 1987. Doesn't make sense unless he's talking about another match. He hung on for 6 years after that. Hardly a short time and a signal that the end was near. Hogan often sounds like an idiot in some of his interviews. I think he likes to hear himself talk. Says shit that makes absolutely no sense.
He certainly lived his life well. For what little time he had on this Earth he spent it better than most others could only hope to. Andre, you still have a posse!
I say when Andre was wrestling in the WWF he was most likely around 520 to 550 pounds. Maybe towards the end of his career when he wrestled in Mexico and Japan around 1991 to 92 he possible could of weighed around 580. I Don't believe Hogan.
@TheHappynot I think you're pretty close to estimating Andre's weight during WWF. I've read that his peak weight at anytime was 565lbs. His peak height has always been a poplular topic, but from most of the evidence I've seen, I would say 7'0-7'1" peak during the 70's. In the documentary "Larger Than Life", they credit Andre as being "7 feet tall at age 18". During the end of his career, there is no doubt he lost a couple of inches of height from his disease and back surgery.
@romans52345 Of course it is in the terms that he was talking about. He was talking like Andre was on his last legs. Andre was fine for 6 years and continued wrestling and acting. Hogan talks like he was about to drop dead. That's not the case.
hogan is so full of shit: Andre died 6 years after this match and also hogan said andre weighed 698lbs that night but when andre died his report said like 530lbs and he was alot bigger towards his death..........whatcha gonna do brother, when my line of bullshit runs wild on you?
@LASportsFan4Life He's said the line about Andre weighing as much as 800 lbs, several times over the years. I know he said something like that in one of his first times on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
@CelticJobber2 Proof it wasn't a punchline, like the one's he's made on different occasions? It was also reported that after he learned of his wife's divorce filing, he told a reporter that he was relieved of the news, and then called back five minutes later to tell him he was kidding
@LASportsFan4Life Hogan said in his book " My life outside the Ring" yeah he says they weighed andre at a airport and also he said he tore out his lat muscle and trap muscle when he slammed andre in 1987 and that was his first time slammin andre.....check out "The Ultimate Andre Body Slam" and like a dozen guys have slammed andre and most are smaller guys but back to all the muscle tear claims
@KTMRanger0305 Read the part where he talked about the pain he suffered from the bodyslam, and yeah it did hurt him; injuries happen, EXCEPT IT. I know he slammed Andre in 1980 at Showdown at Shea as well
@LASportsFan4Life What Hogan meant was that Andre became the equivalent of a person diagnosed with terminal cancer after this match took place. He knew Andre quite well, and you should not assume he is bluffing on this matter
@KTMRanger0305 Six years is a short time, DUMBASS. HE MEANT THAT ANDRE WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A PERSON DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL CANCER AFTER THIS MATCH TOOK PLACE. DID YOU NOT SEE HOW ANDRE WAS BARELY ABLE TO MOVE ON MANY OCCASIONS AFTER THIS MATCH? Hell, he didn't even participate in the 1987 Survivor Series until the match ended. Also, YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT IN SIX YEARS; LOOK UP DIETING.
@KTMRanger0305 Regarding his body weight, Andre didn't really look too much different when was wrestling in Japan in 1992, compared to how much he weighed in his prime, DUMBASS. Try to actually use a covincing argument, AND DON'T STRETCH FALSE ACCUSATIONS. BE NEUTRAL.
@BipolarYogi Not from a medical standpoint. Giants usually die sooner because their heart is too small to pump all that blood through such a huge body.
i feel sad right now beacause i just found out andre died on the day of my birth i feel like i caused it i know its not my fault but i love andre why die on my birthday :(

KTMRanger0305 1 year ago
@KTMRanger0305 Got any proof of such a silly claim?
LASportsFan4Life 1 year ago
@LASportsFan4Life He's said the line about Andre weighing as much as 800 lbs, several times over the years. I know he said something like that in one of his first times on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
CelticJobber2 1 year ago
@CelticJobber2 Proof it wasn't a punchline, like the one's he's made on different occasions? It was also reported that after he learned of his wife's divorce filing, he told a reporter that he was relieved of the news, and then called back five minutes later to tell him he was kidding
hulkyone 1 year ago
@LASportsFan4Life Hogan said in his book " My life outside the Ring" yeah he says they weighed andre at a airport and also he said he tore out his lat muscle and trap muscle when he slammed andre in 1987 and that was his first time slammin andre.....check out "The Ultimate Andre Body Slam" and like a dozen guys have slammed andre and most are smaller guys but back to all the muscle tear claims
KTMRanger0305 1 year ago
@KTMRanger0305 Read the part where he talked about the pain he suffered from the bodyslam, and yeah it did hurt him; injuries happen, EXCEPT IT. I know he slammed Andre in 1980 at Showdown at Shea as well
hulkyone 1 year ago
@LASportsFan4Life What Hogan meant was that Andre became the equivalent of a person diagnosed with terminal cancer after this match took place. He knew Andre quite well, and you should not assume he is bluffing on this matter
hulkyone 1 year ago
@KTMRanger0305 The word 'shortly' is relative. Living 6 years is a lot less than living another 50.
terminat1 1 year ago
@KTMRanger0305 Six years is a short time, DUMBASS. HE MEANT THAT ANDRE WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A PERSON DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL CANCER AFTER THIS MATCH TOOK PLACE. DID YOU NOT SEE HOW ANDRE WAS BARELY ABLE TO MOVE ON MANY OCCASIONS AFTER THIS MATCH? Hell, he didn't even participate in the 1987 Survivor Series until the match ended. Also, YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT IN SIX YEARS; LOOK UP DIETING.
hulkyone 1 year ago
@KTMRanger0305 Regarding his body weight, Andre didn't really look too much different when was wrestling in Japan in 1992, compared to how much he weighed in his prime, DUMBASS. Try to actually use a covincing argument, AND DON'T STRETCH FALSE ACCUSATIONS. BE NEUTRAL.

is it just me or is andre the giant really dead?????
AlexGomboc 1 year ago
he may of been a giant but also he had a giant heart! he will always be with us
BipolarYogi 1 year ago
@BipolarYogi Not from a medical standpoint. Giants usually die sooner because their heart is too small to pump all that blood through such a huge body.
