  • I love opiates. I hate opiates.

  • I had a flashback. Thanks.

  • @gvenema obviously you haven't been to the hood

  • They just need the ending scene from Once Upon a Time in America. De Niro's face would sell this shit, no problem.

  • View, Safe Sex In A Bottle, on YouTube

  • is this stuff legal?

  • Perfume is Art

    Respect

    JINTALA

  • My mom still has a bottle of Opium she bought ages ago (it's a really good-smelling perfume!). And now I have to associate that with this. LOL. Greaaaat.

  • @puppydrowner147 fuck offf

  • "Opium...If it were only slightly hotter it'd make a damn good coffee."

  • I wish all commercials were this dramatic.

  • this commercial is intoxicating isnt it?

  • Going by the last few David Lynch's commercials, they all look from overseas. Is he banned from making commercials in the U.S.?

  • Did Angelo Badalamenti do the score for this? My guess would be yes considering it's a David Lynch commercial and b/c the music very Badalamenti-esque.

  • @Baphomet417 I don't know, but I am convinced it is from Badalamenti.

  • That must be some damn good perfume to make that lady have a mild orgasm.

  • Absolutely, Lynch has that "vagueness" required for a perfume ad! nice! :D

  • Surprisingly tame for Lynch. I expected more drug references. But the music at least is Twin Peaks-ish.

  • I'd like to see a Lynch ad on LSD

  • Let's face it, nobody came here expecting a perfume commercial based on the title alone. David Lynch? Opium?

  • Enchanting!

  • kinda lame for a lynch commercial

  • Cheesy like the 80's

  • still don't seem like a Lynch commercial, it's not creepy and it makes too much sense.

  • warm memories with opium

  • A really David Lynch comercial would have show her putting some scat in her tasty lips with her fingers. Come David you can do that ;)

  • My mom used to wear this perfume

  • Faux opium highs not included.

  • Wow this commercial makes me want to go get a Medical Opium card!

  • @gvenema rofl !!! xD

  • You have to consider moving photography, lighting, as a work of art to apprieciate David Lynch. otherwise go watch some Micheal bay crap to be entertianed for the common movie idot.

  • @visionmakertv What were some people saying that was bad? Some of his "fans" say "Oh, this isn't/wasn't weird enough!", even though, as you said, they don't realize how difficult some of the aspects of his style are, all they care about is subject.

I haven't personally seen any of his films (only his short "Six Men Getting Sick Six Times"), but my parents saw "Blue Velvet" when is was first released, so of course they've told me about him now and again.

  • @jingachi3000000 I've been noticing that all of his commercials actually convey an interesting but extremely pertinent mood, which fits directly with the product on an emotional level.

  • @Lemur14

yeah, she's experiencing the emotions associated with that olfactory

    memory

  • i know people that went the heroin way.

  • my mom has got it, smell real sexy

  • @yubisakireno creepy

  • This commercial would make straight men buy it for women.

  • Appi kui head kommentaarid :D

  • This obviously isn't a real advertisement. It's a satirical criticism of perfume commercials. Crazy woman spend tons of money on small bottles of smelly liquid, much like people who buy drugs. Both drug addicts and rich woman buy a product that makes themselves feel beautiful and content with there lives. This video brilliantly conveys the American disease of self obsession. It shows how advertisements condition us to consume products that distort our senses.

  • @LunarAbsence1441 LOL you could ask David Lynch to make a music video for Justin Bieber and it would be this masterful piece of art. Lynch is amazing.

  • @LunarAbsence1441 can you jus.. fuckin calm down

  • Hmmmm...give me a free sample please!

  • holy crap, what a load of crap. if i was ever to consider buying this perfume........not a chance now. bullshit advertising.

  • me 2,lol

  • omg no wonder why i love this perfume!!!!!!!!

  • James lipton???!! lol

  • opium helps me sleep

  • man..my mom had that bottle...and she gave it as a gift!! I'm so pissed..anywway, she's still wearing this perfume....

  • la musica suena a badalamenti y si no es de el es muy buena en cuanto a la imagen pues igual si que es de lynch o no,tampoco se sabe,el caso que es buen video.

  • this was my dead mothers favorite scent. The powder is better.

  • id give your mum one if she smelled like that :)

  • Very sensuous, but who names a perfume after a drug?

  • Reread that question again. If you don't realize how stupid a thing that was to ask, then you're hopeless.

  • YSL do

  • are you sure this has anything to do with david?

  • That's just as dumb as any other perfume commercial

  • why imagine it when you can live the OxyCon experience

  • Beautiful

  • that's a cool name for a perfume

  • I knew he made the commercial for Gucci, didn't knew about Opium too (much older ).

    Thanks for posting.

  • anyone knows who the model is?

  • Looks like Paulina Porizkova.

  • "HOW'S ANNIE!?"

  • Lol Bob.

  • who made the music?

  • well although i'm a big admirerer of Lynch's work i think that commercial is done by pretty random director and stamped a "lynch" brand on it. Since it's no way original, selling beautiful or with any twist. just some shots of a lady too drunk and with a dream look applied. but that's how the advertising world works. you don't have to be original. you just have to sell. and selling is what a "Lynch" brand does pretty darn well

  • opium is a drug and i L()VE it! type in Opium and you will see how people smoke it, how I smoke it that shit is GOOD.

  • this is so twin peaks

  • David Lynch is the only true genius working in film today. As for this spot, his touch is the sped-up romance of it. Any other director would have been obvious. His Gucci piece is inspired because it's EXACTLY what you're supposed to think about perfume and no one thought of it before him ("lose yourself in the scent...")

  • Fanboy.

  • That's MR. FANBOY to you. Bow to the Kingdom of Lynch!!!!

  • there are some lynch's commercials that are so mean.

  • Anyone know what the music is or where to find it?

  • LYNCH KNOWS what many directors without class doesn't.

  • what is that?..endless pretension & self indulgence "oh look at me im david lynch,im avant garde & so much cooler director of commercials than you guys plus my fans will rave me saying that im a genius"..you guys suck so much dick...fuck..i like lynch but this was average & total cheese adorned by dreamy effects.i'll stick with scorsese's american express add..way better acted also CLASSIER..with great shots, meaning and funny too!

  • you are not synestesic are you?!

  • "you are not synestesic are you?!"..actually....it is synesthesic.."might be an homage to un chien andalou" lynch followers are such posers...pretentious people...genius wannabes..read a book instead & learn to write, it will be more gratifying than watching miniature grandpas sneaking under some fucking door (mulholand dr)..jaja you telling me..aja..fucking joke..you better open your eyes...

  • where are the grandpas?! i dont see! And you must to respect me because i'm brazilian, i must not to know another language perfectely, for god sacks. And i already told that Lynch is a kind of mean in some of his commercials. Learn how to ready, fucker!

  • grandparents..abuelitos..como se dice aca en latinoamerica..did you watch the movie? actually..now i ask you this: YOU are not synesthesic are you?..OPEN YOUR EYES.. watch the whole movie..cabron pretencioso "conocedor del arte y lynch" jeje..ah y es "sakes"..y "read"..ve a chequear algun diccionario, sabras mucho de "un chien andalou" pero que bruto eres con un idioma tan facil como el de los gringos..ajaja..

  • let's forget this ... you are not racional at all. this language is easy for you, not for me. by the way i don't talk spanish cabron

  • lets forget this.whatever,on person & online lynch followers talk like they are geniuses & never give me a straight answer.the language thing,my fault, sorry for that..move on please...but you avoided my later observation of the synesthesic subjet (your pretension of pointing me when you actually missed the very last end of mulholand dr..after all, synesthesic did take on you pal..youre not such an observer as your artistic persona sujects).if lynch pisses then its gold, another youtube poser

  • you put everybody in the same bag ! easy boy! easy! you are too coky

  • sorry to correct you but its..cocky...and no..i just put in the same bag all those people who suck david lynch's dick even if he makes poop...only beacuse it says lynch..if another dude had directed the commercial then you people say its cheesy & all those references about un chien andalou then vanishes...dont you think? sad but true...thats all..

  • I TOLD YOU: I DONT LIKE ALL HIS WORKS ! I GIVE UP. good luck

  • cool, peace

  • 9,999 out of 10,000 of the US population can be fooled by showing them ANY kind of commercial, take American Idol for instance, 33 million votes, vote is around 2 dollar per vote... This is why the media is and will be big, more people, more "pray" for us. Keep on doing this people! LOVE THE MONEY

  • Opium forever........

  • 0:45 might be an homage to un chien andalou

  • "Opium. This Is Why She Got So High"

  • the model looks like ingrid bergman

  • Why David Lynch, Why?

  • Money, Seanist, Money!

  • Mr. Lynch has to eat, just like you.

  • oh...good...lord...

  • The name Opium hit's me as a pretty weird name for a perfume ...

  • Pure eye candy! Stunning! It dosent matter what the fragrance is, its all about the sensual experience.

  • alright there are some nice cuts

  • Who's that woman? She's wonderful.

I think that commercial has same age as I am almost 21 years and it's still beautiful. And I still love this perfume.

  • "I can think of two things wrong with that title"

  • You mean the name David Lynch and the word "sells" in the same sentence, or the suposely fact that hes a drug dealer? ;)

  • i'd never buy the perfume but i'd watch the commercial again and again

  • orgasmic.

  • @DiversityRecession1 very sensual, but not orgasmic

  • Is that music Badalamenti, or Montovani?

  • i immediately think that David Lynch is making fun of the product in some way without the company even knowing it. Selling out?

  • @AndrewKaz i don't get it. how do you figure that he's making fun of the product?

  • what a fucking shit :s

  • shut up and go away

  • He is not a sell out. This is a work of comedy. Who cares if he gets paid.

  • @gbyrdo comedy? the only thing comedic about it is that it was named opium. beyond that it's just a homerun

  • so funny for a second i thought this might be a scene from Twin Peaks lol

  • I wish all commercials were unique works of art.

  • that scent is more like shit in a bottle

  • OHH!

  • that perfume is like sex in a bottle.

  • David Lynch movies don't exactly have the draw of your average summer blockbusters. He's gotta pay the bills somehow.

  • why would you name your perfume "opium"

    this is really pretty though

  • because the scent is intoxicating...

  • I think this and "The Third Place"are Lynch's best commercials.

  • Did you forget "Avida Dollars"?, get real you fucking brain dead consumer of overpriced need less shit that the planet would be better off without!

  • This is Yves Saint Laurent here!

And that commercial is really good! It has a story on it!

  • eraserhead was right out of filmschool. if he wanted to make a movie he had to start at the bottom with commercials, and you take whatever you can get. all directors start out with commercials or music videos. shit, Ridley Scott was a fashion photographer before Alien. have some respect douche-bag. you don't have to be a self-righteous ego-centric fuck everyday of your life.

  • Not to defend 'machinesexdeath' but this isn't exactly somebody trying to get their start in film by doing commercials. Lynch sells everything and has big budgets to do so. He is a sell out.

  • Damn straight

  • Everybody sells out. What's your point?

  • thegorillasnake, your comment is sad but true. Dylan sold out, everybody does in one form or another.

  • What matters is that there is a spectrum of vision for us to enjoy or hate. Lynch has always entertained and educated me about the possibilities of communication. And I think he gives us great things.

Yes this is clearly selling a product. Who cares? It's sensual.

  • you are insane

  • The bit where we go into the bottle;

    "no este..."

  • sounds similar to the soundtrack for twin peaks

  • Rest in peace Mister Saint Laurent. You were the latest bigger french designer! you're a symbol of french elegance in the world. Thanks for the beautiful things that you have done! . Reposez en paix Monsieur Saint Laurent

  • El perfume mas excitante y conmovedor que he olido en una mujer

  • Only the french would make a perfume called opium.

  • So tongue in cheek...you have to appreciate Lynch´s subtle humour...the vagina like bottle, the sperm like water, the model´s expressions. I think its great work with a giggle at the people who buy perfume. Yes, there IS a perfume called Opium, its been around for year.

  • This is not a parody, it's an actual commercial for Opium perfume, which has been around since 1977. That's what the bottle really looks like, and is not an invention of Lynch's.

  • Sounds like Angelo Badalamenti

  • Sure does, sounds like a remake of "the" soundtrack into a warmer (major) tone. Still works, I guess.

  • what? no real opium?

  • They censors would NEVER let a perfume be called OPIUM these days!

  • Why not? There is an energy drink called "Cocaine"...

  • I bet they're not allowed to advertise their product. At least not in the USA. You can't even advertise cigarettes here anymore.

  • Yes, they certainly DO advertise it in the US. You're not allowed to advertise it in Saudi Arabia, though. They call it something else there, can't remember what though.

  • You say that like it's a good thing?

  • You say this like a lithuanian monk has eaten up your atmosphere while shaving his legs. YIH!

  • As far as that made sense?

  • it would be if it wasn't false advertising ;)

  • Que colocón coge...a ver si va a ser por eso que cuesta casi 100 euros?

  • there was an instant where her fingers looked like they were going into her eyes!

plus, he used the same shot of going into the darkness of the bottle in mulholland drive.

  • the woman reminded me of dorothy vallens!

  • 0:44-0:46 probably a coincidence

  • I don't think so

  • What the FUCK kind of perfume is that!?

  • sweet and sickly; the perfume, that is!

  • subtle, yet vaginal

  • Oh, what a singular vision. His most mature

work yet...and bla bla bla blablabla.)

  • Hey Hey. Don't you dare writing something amuseing.

Don't you know that serious artists hate fun and people who have it.

No, they are only there for those who want to discuss their deeper meaning so they can proof that they are superior, sucking a bit on the artists tit by sounding like a 19th century British person. (oO) @@ (--)

  • OK OK, I'll never do it again.

Except that i already have. On all his commercials I wrote comments

that never referred to the video

I was watching. Just as DL would have it.

  • Why not making experiences in the field of commercials? David transcends the limitations.., whatever he does, it is great!

  • LOL omg this cracks me up. i laugh everytime she rubs it on her neck. its hillarious. i love it so much, i wish he would turn it into a movie! and it would just be that girls trip from the perfume, cause obviously its fuckin her up. i want that stuff. he really does a good job of selling it.

  • @saltrapty that "trip" would be pretty uneventful, more like a softcore porno

  • when I clicked to see this video for some reason I thought it was a Lynch ad for actual opium... weird

  • Yes is the SAME

  • it's that fragrance, that has cat piss in it...very pungent

  • one birthday as i opened my present i shouted "brilliant, they bought me some Opium" my friend said "Shit i thought you were gonna get some Cocaine!"............OOOPS :-)

  • lol!

  • is this a real perfume actually called OPIUM???

  • hells yes

  • I use it.:) Opium by Yves Saint-Laurent. You spray once, and it's like you've sprayed the bottle.:))
