they are in competition! the philippine gameshow where the song became a hit because of the dance has a contest before called extreme papaya where you send your video dancing to papaya. since it's being shown in other countries as well under the cable channel The Filipino Channel, filipinos abroad also did their papaya videos which is why you can see several filipino videos from abroad dancing to papaya in youtube....
