  • lol you are so funny, i enjoyed your vid so much that i subbed :)

  • @Texasgirl104 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this bit of foolishness and I hope you learned how to make your own stuff :-)

  • hahaha iam laughing so hard when you were using the shimmer mist ( i believe ) and it went the other way pprrr hahaha

maybe the spray hole is not right,, hope you had fixed it

greatings from holland and thank you for the laugh (sorry ) hihi

  • change the bottles so you dont get that spraying problem.

  • @yanely1167 Thank you for your comment. I've found that some bottles work well in this and others don't. Mostly what I've found is that "A little dab will do" instead of a big old glob :-)

  • Thanks for sharing this experiment. I think that considering that glimmer mists cost over $6 each and that you could make various quantities of your homemade glimmer mist...$24 is great deal. I have to try this. ;.)

  • @BumbleBearCrafts I know what you mean about the cost. However, doing it the "Home made" way you have a lot of ink and mica powders left over, not such a bad thing if you like the colors :-) Have fun doing your own experiments :-)

  • Thanks so much for sharing with us this tutorial on trying different products. Still looking to see how I can make my own GM. When your on a budget its cheaper to make your own. I just have to find the right ingredients..tfs Mimi :O)

  • @MimiChula003 The Perfect Pearls will be your biggest expense when doing this. There is a lot in each little jar so it does go a long way and is more cost effective when you have to do this on a budget. Hope you do figure out how to make this on your own. It is so fun to experiment.

  • I think you are great! You need your own show, I'll be your manager LOL.

  • @queenbee063 Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comment. I hope you have been able to create your own glimmer mists from my foolishness and mayhem. Works great!

  • what kind of shelf life do these have?

  • @laneauxpaula Uhhhhm. Your guess is as good as mine. It is water based, the ink is a pigment, and the shimmer part is mica. Shelf life should be pretty good. Maybe for a couple years. There isn't anything in the process I used that would degrade over time, but you never know. Thanks for asking though.

  • PART 1: I just lucked onto your videos. I've always thought "if someone can, why not me." So, although, I may initially try something the "purchased" way, I'm usually trying to figure a more cost/time-effective way. Because it takes time for me to settle on just the one right way for me, I usually end up spendind lots of money trying this or that. I'd been seeing the pretty shimmery creations and one day heard someone say "glimmer mist." I didn't know what was, so I googled it.

  • @mynxx101 Good luck in your experimentation. That is the most fun of this process. There are a lot of costly items used in paper crafting, but when you can find things to make from the stuff you have at home or can cobble stuff together is the best way to do this crafting. Have fun and don't be afraid to experiment.

  • LOL I had to laugh when I saw your videos on this. I am very new to this crafting stuff and I never know what I am doing....you basically just described my nightly ritual. LOL. I have wasted so much time and money on products and I have no idea how to use some of them. I am learning....thanks for teaching me! I have now subscribed to your videos and will start watching them all. Have a great day!!

  • @shellybradfield Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. Being self taught in this arena is sometimes quite a challenge, as you are finding out. I dabble in everything, like other crafters that post videos here on YouTube. There are quite a few very talented people here and you can learn a lot from them, as I have done. Have fun in your crafting and experiment from time to time. You will find what you do best in that manner and what doesn't work. Leslie

  • @boknstet I know I am still trying different things, there are quite a few I really like to do but I am not quite able to put it all together just yet. I do enjoy all the videos and trying all of the techniques. I bought the pearl ex and have no idea what to do with it, I have seen videos of people using it as make up, sigh...if you have any good ideas that I can use this expense pearl ex on I would appreciate it!! Thank you.

  • When the flowers dried, did any of the mica come off on your hands? Which was the best, hairspray or glue (when flowers were dry)? I was told Gum Arabic works best with Pearl Ex. Perfect Pearls needs no binder, it's already inside. I think Peart Ex is prettier, what do you think? Love to hear from you when you get the time. Thanks doll. ;)

  • @mississchic To answer your questions. First - Pearl Ex. Yes, some did come off on my hands when the flowers dried. The hairspray and the glue had the same results, flaking. Mostly though it has stayed on. I've had the flowers in a drawer and handle them frequently - when I'm pawing through it to find something.

Second - I agree with you. The Pearl Ex is much prettier. Same amounts of powders, different results.

    Thanks for asking these questions.

    Leslie

  • I hope you do more experiments. I just found your channel and I'm hooked. LOL. The more glimmer the better. Why do 1 scoop of Pearl Ex when you can do more scoops. Go big or go home, right? LOL

  • @mississchic I'm so glad you find my foolishness and mayhem entertaining. Nearly everything I do is an experiment in some fashion or another since I'm continually learning. Yes, you are right. Go big or go home. That includes mistakes. If I don't make a big mistake then I haven't tried hard enough :-)

    Leslie

  • Thanks Leslie, I've been on the fence about these. I have a bit of pearl ex and had just set it in the past with hairspray But I like the the way glimmermist looks in the videos wverybody has on here. Maybe a little bit of mad science will be happening here at my place. Gotta find the time though all these kids are keeping me too busy to craft :( lol I love-em all though :) thanks for sharinag your ideas ,

  • How many children do you have that are keeping you busy? i know you said you have a son that went to - not boot camp but the equivalent of it - yes Basic Training. He and his wife have a little boy. You mentioned something about a boy with a birthday you thought about doing a pirate theme.

Some day you will be the "Craft Diva" that we will all be watching. Have fun being a mad scientist when you can get around to it.

  • Hi yes I live in a very small town in the UK, I'll give eBay a try thanks!

  • Good luck in your search for sparkly matter. I certainly hope you do find something that will work for you.

  • Another excellent video. If it makes you feel better, I'd have little choice in buying Glimmer mists cos my craf shop doesn't sell the other products you used to make yr own! They have recently started stocking Cosmic Shimmer instead of the Tattered Angels mists but I haven't tried them yet. TFS x

  • Where do you live? In the UK? Have you thought of checking eBay for the items? Wonder what the cost would be that way?

Thank you for your comment on my video. I can come up with some hair brained foolishness once in a while. So thank you, yet again.

  • Some pretty neat stuff sis, i haven't got to that point yet, so i don't know, but maybe buying that stuff ready made is the way to go if you don't plan on using it all the time.

  • Yes, my feeling exactly. The cost breaks down to $8.50 per bottle for 3 bottles, as in the video. The $27 plus a bit of shipping from Roxyfur for 4 bottles breaks down to $6.75 a bottle. No extra stuff left to wonder what you will ever do with it.

  • I really enjoy your videos Leslie, I`m not the kind of person that experiment a lot, that make me crazy. Thanks for sharing,

    Indira

  • Well...this didn't exactly go they way I had hoped! lol It was supposed to be quick & easy & have an end result with a better product than GM!! haha Back to the drawing board, huh? Thanks for all the great info Leslie! I appreciate it!...Nancy :o)

  • @nickelnook1 You are so right. That is why I "experiment" first before I make a decision on things like this kind of product since I'm still just creeping closer and closer to being a "Glitter Diva" hahahaha.

Thank you for your comment. Hope I gave you enough information so you can have good results with your crafting.

    Leslie

  • looks like the nozzle maybe clogged

  • @MissouriAngel2 Clogged is not the word. Froze up, glued tight shut, as the military says "FUBAR" - Fouled Up Beyond All Repair. No saving that one at all. Not even with Goo Gone!!

  • you already know my address so you can send them right to me..lol love that gold color

  • @MissouriAngel2 Me too. That gold swirling around in the bottle was simply "scrumptious".

I'll keep you in mind and your offer of a home for some, possibly soon to be ignored product.

  • just change out the spray to it might be broken if not spraying right :) hugs

  • @TheCatgirl73 Thanks for the thought. That Glossy Accents really did a job on the sprayer. By the time I messed at the sink with hot water in the bottle the whole mechanism froze up and there was no pumping action going on. It glued itself tight.

So a cautionary tale, don't use so much Glossy Accents if you try this. Save yourself the trouble.
