That crackling noise is supposed to be in the music. I bought the cd, and it has this annoying crackling noise...

i guess it's supposed to resemble burning wood or burning stuff or something..

It still stirs the emotintions. I cried when I watched episode 2. It was a powerful moment. Rin.. lost someone veryimportant.
