  • How about this project, is there a final video for this one?

  • I also planned something but where can I build it?

  • Good effort. Do you suppose you could tweak the propellor so it has the right amount of washout and twist?? I bet you could increase the thrust greatly with some more research on prop building.

  • Moar?

  • so... they never finished it? wheres the flight video?

  • I have a strange feeling that they have already finished this..... I'm just waiting for the video for confirmation.

  • Where's the bloody baloon?

  • The gearing of the pedal/propeller setup is odd...Why not let the propeller "coast"and continue to spin when the rider stops peddling? Seems like you lose a lot of energy by having them locked together.

  • @Hipster420

I guess then you'd need a secondary brake system. Their set up lets you break with the pedals making the whole thing lighter and simpler. But I'm not an engineer, so I could be wrong. :P

  • Great project.

    Question:

Has there been any consideration to being able to do minor repairs in the air? I don't know how many times growing up my bike's chain has come off and I've had to repair it while away from a shop. It might be considerably more difficult to fix a chain while in the air. Perhaps a maintenance railing would be in order...

  • I'm very worried this project will die with no flight attempt.

  • I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

  • Great video guys, would love to see it up in the air.

  • man i can't wait to see if it will fly or not! If you wanted it to go faster with less resistance you could take charges protons and put them ontop of the outer surfaces. I saw this at a science fair once

  • im so excited to see this thing in the air.

  • @brendonv101 I am so excited to see this thing up in the air and then going down fast in the ground.

  • should those guys be standing behind the propellor while it is turning?

  • He was not peddling right. The pedals should be at the end of his feet. Just ask any cyclist. Maybe they should get one to be the pilot.

  • no they should have their feet straped in as it will also stablise the whole rig and get more power to the pedels.. cause you can pull up with one foot as you push down with the other

  • Yes that would be ideal. When strapped in it would still be the toe end of the foot on the pedal rather than the middle as in the video.

So message to the team - go to a cycle shop and get new pedals with built in straps (they will know what you are talking about) and seek help from cyclist - preferably a professional cyclist who will know how to put in the most power and have the legs to do it. Make him (or maybe her??) the pilot.

  • i'm the first test pilot for this. well excited!!

  • i hope they are going to be strapped on it good because slightest turbulense the pilot will need parachute

  • Bring back the ozzy! (or is it ozzie?) It just goes to show... making decent footage is all about art, imagination, skill and technique - or something. Not that I know - I'm in the 'rank' group! Three weeks. "make it happen" guys - for some reason you make me think of MUSE in the studio.

  • ShamWow sucks

  • Poor kid, the stress of the test caused him to go gray overnight.

(These airship builder vids are among my faves of this channel.)
