Well, Three Importan Dancers to Irish Dance are here on this video before Riverdance became a World Phenomenon, Colin Dunne, Jean Butler and Michael Flatley are without a doubt Professionals on Irish Dancing on their particular styles. I like this video, thanks for posting this.
Found a couple old youtubes of Flatley dancing with the Cheiftans before Riverdance. It doesn't surprise me that his ego blew up some. It was plain as day that traditional Irish dance was too easy for him. Coulda done without the moonwalk though.
I've read too much Flatley-bashing here and elsewhere. His later performances grew increasingly macho-centric, but what I see here is simply Michael executing some signature dance moves. Butler and Dunne were performing Irish dance in a more traditional vein. Seems like everyone was doing what s/he does best. No blame...
Flatley feeds his ego but Flately deserves to have an ego..."Colin and Jean were about the performance" DDDUUUURRRR who cares...It's about who is more skilled and entertaining and Flately wins both categories. Not one male lead filled his shows as good as him in Riverdance. But I liked Riverdance more than any of Flatley's shows. Sorry...Just my opinion.
I don't think you understood my comment. I agreed with you. You would know that if you knew how to read. Read it again and maybe the .0002 watt lightbulb in your head will go on. If you still don't believe me, I have a ton of Michael F. videos on my page; that should be proof enough.
@saq428 I disagree. Flatley's performance was NOT all about him. It was all about comparison, as far as I'm concerned. Besides, I'd be glad to share my thoughts about both Michael Flatley and Colin Dunne with you in a note.

Jean Butler and Colin Dunne were all about the performance, Flatley was all about the attention to himself.

@SmokyQuartzCrystal Gee, I don't know, try being a brilliant showman, fantastic dancer and very good businessman??? Those three are just a start.

@saq428 I disagree. Michael Flatley was all about the performance as well.

hahahaha, Michael Flatley comes on and tries to make Colin & Jean bite the dust.
GratefulJane 2 years ago
tries??? seriously? Flatley's the one with three mansions, Colin and Jean the 'queen' get lucky if they can sell out 200-seat community theaters.

Brilliant, how I wish I could turn the clock back and be given the chance to dance like that. Thanks for sharing Paddy.
