id love for a response, i did what my my dad asked of me, and buried him to this song, he died on sunday too, much to less respect of my family , i still rip this song , its his birthaday today, and god knows hes here with me xxxx
@Expatblues I agree I gets me everytime, My grandad loved johnny cash and its not until years later I knew why. I guess I didnt have the soul at the time. My son loves some cash songs though.
i can't imagine how difficult that was for him to get through that song. i've seen this particular version dozens of times and i usually have to fight back tears every time i watch it - and i'm not always able to.
Fantastic song. Fantastic man. He is coming to Norway, and my homeplace on the Norwegian countryside (Nes, Hedmark) on july 14th. The biggest happining for me by far this year.
I spell my name KRISTOPHER to so thats all I ever knew of him and why. The ROLLING STONE article earlier this year was interesting. I saved it. He was in his thirtys when he became big, a true rebel I guess because he turned his back on the privaledge he had and what his Military father wanted him to do. He was a boxer and helicopter pilot at one point.
Dylan is one of the greatest poets ever...and Kris knows that....as I do....and I hope the rest of the world thinks so too. I mean there are a lot great writers...but Dylan will always be a few percent better then they all....he is a legend. I dont know if there will ever be such a constellation again...Dylan, Cash, Kris, Willy...maybe it only happens every 1000 years. People, please enjoy them as longs as they are among us....Because Im sure we will miss them alot one day.....
@MrMegaFredzeppelin ...and he CAN sing it his way. I still wonder how he was strong enough to be able to sing his song there - especially this one, with all his memories and emotions and his love for John ... I would have just cried.
@MrMegaFredzeppelin My very favorite version of all still is the one with Kris and the Foo Fighters at the Johnny cash tribute - it's only one verse there, but Kris's harp sounded so really sad. And ever now and then a short look by Kris at this pic of Johnny with him (I think it was from the Jesse James movie) behind them on the wall - really emotional, bringing tears to my eyes...
This is such a GREAT tune.ROCK ON!!!!!

It's fantastic to see the obvious love and affection he had for Johnny. Two of country music's finest.

By singing this song Johnny really helped Kris become famous and you can tell his gratitud for it.. it`s hard to loose a friend.. RIP John

To me it's only Kris himself who can sing his song the way it should be sung.

Well, this is Kris' song, but he and Johnny sang this song together many times. I think this is Kris' and Johnny's song.
