@kulcsarpeter91 Back in the day he had a Steamer stage I. 4 string i think. Later he got the Iroquai patterned 5 string. Don't know what kinda that is. Thought it was Streamer broadneck. And don't now which one he is using at this gig.
I was convinced he was lip syncing till over halfway through the video. Seems he can't pull this song off to the same caliber today as he could in '97. Still, great track. Fairly tight band.
Very very good indeed. never sen this one before. I also thought the violins sounded ok. Its not like Jay to allow out of tune strings..hes a perfectionist. His albums are recorded in 1 take....none of this splicing the best bits together. Love the live stuff....seen them 39 times. Thanks.
i think EOPE/ROTSC was more of a live recording thing, whereas the following albums definitely had a lot of chopping/editing using computers and sequencers. you can tell especially in songs like traveling without moving where they obviously use loops to build up the song...then they totally overdid it on the dynamite album.
I dont know why people keep going on about the scatting though. Jay always used scatting in his songs eg Blow Your Mind (over the trumpet solo), Space Cowboy (after the second chorus) etc etc. Just that Blake took all aspects of Jamiroquai and ripped them in one song but the Americans didnt know Jamiroquai well enough to figure it out. He brought nothing new to the song.
i have to admit blake did the song justice when he covered it, and the scatting was a nice touch. but jay's definitely better...blake had to drop the key just to sing it, and still was off on a few parts. respect to blake, but way more to jay.
Nah no way can you compare that American bloke to Jay. Jay has a unique voice the other bloke sounded like any other singer covering a song. Wait to see if he can sell millions of records and has a career spanning nearly fifteen years. String section sound tip-top adds another dimension to an already technically amazing song. Top stuff
blake lewis is fuck all compared to this infact hes not even a great singer so i dont know why you even thought that sophia0795 anyway 1spacecowboy1 got his say right on but i suppose i can forgive you for your american views sohia silly as they are!
You can't compare the artist who actually composed this song to someone who did a cover of it.. and Blake's had a very hard time singing the high parts.
is it just me, or are those violins way out of tune? i find that hilarious, that the rest of the band is right on target, which is hard for singing i imagine, but damn violins haha
