@jacklazzell I am not exactly sure where you were on the trail. I was there 2 weeks ago and most of the road was not wider and had no guardrails during most of the trip.
This past weekend (5/9/08) I saw a herd of bighorn sheep crossing the road at the part where this video shows at about 5:10. The sheep came up out of the canyon, crossed the road, and went up the almost-vertical mountainside on the right. It was cool as hell!
The drive is good to Apache Lake on Apache Trail - that hill is just a four mile stip of apache trail. I go to Apache lake almost everyweekend with my boat - once you have taken it once, it is all good from there, no surprise once you know it

@jacklazzell It was GORGEOUS, though, and I will do it again, but leave the driving to someone else. :-) We don't even have bunny hills where I live.

Just did this trip last week 8/7/10 in a 4x4 F250 nice drive. Been up and down it many times. Love it.
