This video SUCKS! Instead of being a Lexus whore why didn't you guys take both of these SUV's on a road trip to see how they do MPG wise. I'm on my 6th or 7th benz now and on every single one.... learning to just go easy on acceleration allowed me to beat any EPA estimate by a mile. And why buy a Lexus that will enable you to crash in emergency manuvers. Also have an 04 E320, Dallas to Austin, averaged 80MPH.... getting 30MPG. EPA is a load of CRAP! They LIE!
The EPA rates the Lexus as having better fuel economy but which one REALLY has better fuel economy? My money is on the diesel. CAFE (the EPA mpg rating) is retarded. My TDI somehow gets better combined fuel economy than the EPA gives it on the highway...how is that possible other than the rating system was designed by some concust chimp with down syndrome?
(continued from earlier post) That being said, not all hybrids will make it to 200k+ miles on their original batteries. Sure you could replace the batteries with a used or refurbished battery pack (some swaps will come in now at under $1,000...how much does an automatic transmission or new engine swap cost?) It's just one less problems diesels don't have to worry about. The MAIN thing I LOVE about my Golf TDi compared to my Civic Hybrid, TORQUE! Passing power and it's has a more solid feel.
Cars in US are hell cheap and of course people would go for the Mercedes but in other places where cars are expensive, you would appreciate that Lexus is already a very good car.
I stopped driving electric vehicles when I was 6.My diesel has enough torque to pin you back in your seat and it easily gets 42mpg on the highway...although the EPA rates it lower.
@listerone Have you checked the torque of a hybrid? They have muuuch more when battery and engine give power together than a diesel...Accelaration of RX400h is similar to a V8's...
No..that isnt the whole point,if somebody had 80k to spend on a car and purely wanted to get an eco car,i dont think theyd be buying 3L+ 4x4s... these cars are luxaury vehicles, the owner probably doesnt care about 4mpg when his just spent 80k...
diesel motors are overall cheaper, run forever, and they are ecofriendly!! this is why the germans like mercedes bmw or audi concentrate on that! but people are blind they just see and hear there are electric motors in the hybrid and thats good for environment and blabla but there are so many disadvantages and finally diesel is better for environment
Might as well buy a Jeep Grand Cheroke Diesel cause it's got the same Mercedes Diesel engine for much less money. But if you ask me yes diesel does do better mpg. But it still uses fuel everyday and everywhere you go. As for the Hybrid does do a lot better since it can be run on pure electric meaning 0 emission. As well as Lexus has better built quality when compared with a US built Mercedes.
In my opinion I will keep the diesel because they will run forever, while the hybrid would be more expensive to own because batteries that recharge after so many charges wear down after a few years.
Diesel is great. The ML 320 has no spare tire so don't buy one if you travel a lot and are out of the Mercedes 30 mile roadside assistance raduis. My wife has been stranded twice in the desert and Mercedes told us to "buy a tire and throw it in the back". Must be some new German engineering. We are going to trade it for either a Volkswagon diesel or a gas SUV.
The biggest problem with the ML, is when the car stops totally, like during the red light, then it's very difficult to move again. It's like too heavy or no-power, but after the car has reached certain speed, then it feels normal again.
I can corner pretty well with the AWD version of the RX 400h. When I go too fast cornering all four tires will slip and make noise. It never feels dangerous and never loses control. They're driving pretty fast on the slalom - and you can drive it fast because it has the power available. Because it is an SUV you have to be cognizant of the weight transitions when cornering or doing slalom - makes you a better driver. =)
why do people say well out about the battery when it dies they already have places where you can go and throw your batteries and chemical away once there used and this battery is no difference
Because the BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE!!! Not only that but, hybrids are going to produce so much TOXIC WASTE, once their batteries go dead. How is that GREEN? Americans are so stupid, buying into hybrids. Yes, I am American. Just not, part of the stupid MAJORITY! Diesel/BioDiesel is going to be the FUTURE. Along with 100% electric vehicles. I am sold on the Bluetec Mercedes Benz.
Save $10K less and break your neck when when it rolls over. What good is it if you have a lexury vehicle that doesnt handle well.
Diesels are built heavy and way outlast any gasoline engine. Hybrid is enormouslt complicated and the cost of ownership would sky rocket as years roll on.
Get the diesel Benz, you can drive it for 20 years or more. these cars just wont die. Go biodiesel when the trend picks up a decade from now.
i own a 07 rx400h and its the same color as you see in this video, to be honest i think its the best looking suv out there right now and they were right about the cornerning of the car, it sucks but the ride is still very smooth
i prefer the DIESEL!! i've been driving my friend's hybrid but i avg at 15MPG... i have a heavy foot.. i can never let the electric motor take me around.. i just can't stand it....
driving a friend's TDI Jetta, i avg at about 29MPG with the foot down most the time... TDI better for me.. Hybrid, better for grandmas!! agree?? :)
but so should grandma, she would prob get 45 if your getting 29 beating on it
diesels are so much better, no ignition system to go wrong, no huge battery to lug around and what about the environmental effects when that battery is thrown out? what will they do with all that acid and special ionic metals??
americans need to wake up
i love my E320 CDI, gets 40mpg and is a lovely beast
i don't think so, diesel is more complicate and delicate, i'm from italy and tere are a lots of diesels cars here, my experience with a couple of BMW's diesel was totally a disaster, wtf, i hated those cars! so i can say "never more diesel".
Both Lexus and Mercedes are very good! they are in the top two beating out BMW. and diesel pollutes the air! and yea the battery is expensive but you don't have to buy another one till like 7 years!! so there lexus wins!! and the interior is A LOT better than mercedes.. idk i love mine:)
lexus is japanese!!! they can't build cars.. they can build cheap cars like the camry.. can never beat the benz.. even the LS600 lexus... (don't get me wrong!! not racist!! i'm asian!!)
No! That is not the whole point. The whole point is to start using an alternative fuel. Not gasoline, diesel, ethanol, or hydrogen! How about just plain old electricity? We rely on it every single day, so let's bring back the electric cars and head back to the drawing board for battery designs. Electric cars provide instant torque and acceleration unlike other fuels. All we need are environmentally friendly electricity generating stations harvesting electricity with zero emissions. Let's start!
Thank you Edmunds for picking the winner based on REAL PERFORMANCE evaluations during your tests rather than PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Both the ML and RX are great SUV's but you cannot argue with the results based on this test. Not to mention they did not compare the new RX 450h which is more powerful while returning better MPG.
@d10230 I agree, the last ten years have sucked, when the W124 went away after 1995 it was all over.
The way a 2003 Merc would have rust if if the rich, lazy owner never washed the salt off of it.
Thats why we gotta stock up on the old iron now, while it's still around, before everyone else is brainwashed into thinking hybrids are better than diesels.
@DamnStraightM35A2 Yes but people have had mercedes for decades and i've only seen a few rust. But the ones rusting well all from the past few years. Even the 1990's the mercedes never rust. maybe it was a lemon. And hybrids are better if you live in a congested city where there is stop and start traffic, which can eliminate polution. MPG estimates do not facter in the start and stop traffic situations. Diesel is just better for constant driving.
@d10230 Funny, being from Canada you'd think you would have seen lots of rusty Mercs. I'm from PA and I've seen LOTS of rusty Mercs, mostly pre W210. I have seen lots of rusty W123's and quite a few W124's with rust.
The way you would have seen a 2003 rust is because in Canada they put plenty of snow melting chemicals on the roads.
@DamnStraightM35A2 Yes they do put alot of salt onto the roads, thats why people don't bother driving nice cars. The people driving nice cars in the winter are usually really rich, or people or lease their cars. I personally drive my Range Rover in the winter just because i won't slide into a ditch and kill myself. Pretty much all luxury cars in canada that are used in the winter are AWD
@DamnStraightM35A2 diesel wont for ever moron thats why all companies are testing other fuel sources because oil will someday deplete so learn and then talk
@DamnStraightM35A2 How many fucking times do we need to tell you stupid dimwitted fucktards...The batteries are replaced for FREE! God you're dumb. Plus, hybrids get way better fuel economy, so suck on that
Batteries will only be replaced for free under the initial warranty (usually 8-10yrs or 80-100k miles, maybe 150k miles in California). I had an '06 Civic Hybrid and drove it over 105k miles on it's original battery when I traded it in for my Golf TDi. Nothing wrong with, just wanted something better on the highway. I can't stand it when people think the batteries will die the mile you drive past the warranty. And yes some Priuses have gone over 200k on their original batteries.
@DamnStraightM35A2 now im not fully trust worthy on electric cars, but diesal might not run forever, cuz fossil fuels, and they can run out completley
The fact that he drives a Lexus hybrid is a fail. When one drives a Mercedes they convey a sense of status. When one drives a Lexus they look like a nouveau riche dumb ass with more money than brains who bought a Lexus because all of their friends drive one.
Lets see, Mercedes has been building diesel powered passenger cars for 75 years, Lexus has been building hybrids for 14 years.....
Lexus = Toyota with different badge, a bland appliance.
@DamnStraightM35A2 not in holland, in holland every Moroccan drives an old mercedes, but rich people who live in amsterdam and 't gooi drive lexuses or audi's but not really much mercedes because the reliability is just so bad, but have fun with your breakdown soon! ;)
@DamnStraightM35A2 You are misinformed. Lexus has only been around for 22 years. Of course you don't see many old Lexus's. Now do you see many old Toyotas on the road? Certainly. If you think that comparing Lexus and Toyota is unfair then it is simply answered by Lexus is Toyota. In Japan Lexus models are even marketed under Toyota. Lexus was just a way to market to the US. Luxury EXport to US The capital letters spell out Lexus.
@NewDivineWind So if Lexus has been around for 22 years then there should be 22 year old Lexus's on the road. I haven't seen any. I haven't seen any 22 year old Toyotas on the road recently either....
@DamnStraightM35A2 Now that would be the case but the world isn't that simple. If you are starting a luxury car brand, it takes a long time before the name is taken seriously. In the first year of Lexus, why would somebody buy a no name luxury car while they could get a name brand BMW? It took time for Lexus to build up sales so there almost no Lexus 22 years or even 18 years ago. Toyotas are the most common car on the road and old ones are just as common.
@DamnStraightM35A2 i dont know how do people think in USA about Lexus drivers, but in Europe if people see you driving one,are like WOW(i mean about countries with high taxes)
If u r reading this, then u will find a dead bloody body hanging in ur closet. U will be haunted and killed by her. to stop it posti this to 6 other videos in 30 GOOD LUCK
i would get the mercedas cause look when you say to someone that i drive a lexus they say big whoop but if you say that my dad or mom drive a mercedas theey will think your rich and theyll be with you more often so are you getting the point im tring to make if you dont just e-mail me i nee e-mails trust me
@imking7 Let me check your logic there. You think what constitutes a great car is what other people think of its value? And you think that an expensive car is a good one? My god you are fucking stupid.
if you want more powerful suv, you shouldn't be looking at the hybrid or bluetec suvs....you should look for dodge or gm trucks....they have more powers and cheaper too
electronic watch from an 80's corolla, fake wood, man made leather, sub par quality plastics, bits and pieces from other toyota cars, lexus is so luxurius i want one
maxou5757, you have to admit that MB cars are overpriced....Compare MB SLK AMG to BMW M3...SLK cost several thousand dollars more and a fraction less of horsepower compared to BMW M3......I agree that MB cars are about luxurious, and they should be expensive...Still, MB cars are still overpriced...
Seriously how can you say I dont want a bmw or a jaguar or audi or vw pheaton or a mercedes because all I want from a car is reliabilty. Thats like saying all I want from a girl friend is punctuality. The only way to have fun with most lexus's is to drive with your head out the sun roof but that gets boring too.
seriously, there is nothing so driveable about overpriced, overrated european cars. people who buy european cars just want to show off that they can afford an expensive name plate.
smart sensible people who know an ounce about engineering would prefer japanese luxuries - they have better ride, better fuel economy, better technology and great comfort.
Better fuel economy; well maybe, only because Jap cars offer no high performance models.
Better technology; that 's your opinion (which i disagree with)
Great Comfort; i can guarantee Euro brands are just as (if not, more) comfortable than Jap competitors.
Listen, my friend, japan builds some awesome valued cars. I love Infiniti and lexus, but when it comes to driving dynamic European is the way to go. if ytou want cozy luxury all the time, then yeah go buy a lexus
Yup, the MB may be the best looking machine here, but... cant people recognize that Hybrids are here to stay? They are slowly becoming cheaper to make and they, well, they use less fuel than other vehicles. Isnt that what we want? Toyota wins again.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Also, i never understood automakers attempting to make fuel-efficient SUVs. Thats almost as pointless as giving an obese person a make-over. Sure they'll look better but theyre still fat. Same in this case, yeah it gets decent mpg's.......for an SUV. if any of you watching this video want a practical utility vehicle with good fuel economy, check out some new station wagons. (Dodge magnum, Subaru Legacy, Volvo V70, VW Passat, and BMW 3-series) all get more mpg, equal utility, and cost less.
wow, even in the most feminine color available, the Mercedes ML still looks more rugged and sporty than the RX. Come on, the Mercedes ML scored excellent in initial quality and also, reliability of the ML has improved to "average" according to CR. Also, this is the bluetec diesel model, which is sure to outlast a normal Mercedes engine.
The Lexus is reliable and comfortable, but just too bland and boring. The Mercedes actually has some SUV character to it. Id easily take the ML over the RX
The Mercedes is better, but the Lexus is much more reliable!I think that, the real SUV is the Lexus, the Mercedes is more than simple SUV. The mercedes is like a sporty wagon with AWD system, but the ML 320 CDI has better fuel economy, especially at high speeds.(80MPH+)
The Mercedes is reliable, more luxurious, has more equipment, better acceleration at higher speed or at low rev, you can tow A LOT MORE, you can go off road(the RX cant), its highway fuel economy is the same as the RX and its overall cruising range is superior, bigger tires, better build and stronger.
Ok the ML might not be quite as fuel-efficient as the RX in town, but why dont you take a Jetta TDI if the only thing you care about is fuel efficienty ?
Oh hell, sounds a lot like mine. I've owned 99 BMW 3 series E46 and this is supposed to be the most reliable BMW car in history and yet, it still was crap as hell. Wipers don't work sometimes(Actually most of the time), heater makes super annoying noise, and turns into an air conditioner after the use for an hour, and the car one time died on the road.
and now my 2002 Honda Civic works everything fine...I feel like I've been seening nightmares before.
What an obvious result. Considering the fact that Merc reliability is one heck of disastor, no one should even think about buying that junk box, unless all you care about is just showing off and telling people who know nothing about cars like "I have Mercedes!"
And those people who know nothing about cars would obviously say "Wow, cool!"
did you see the lexus through the slalom? Its got comedy handling. Good luck to you controlling that heap of shit in an emergency. Mercedes came out on top in this years JD power initial quality survey. Suck it up bitch.
And then just look at the difference in quality of the interior. Try to tell me you prefer the Lexus interior and i will show you a blind fanboy who blindly follows a brand. Not to mind how repulsively ugly the Lexus is outside.
Ugly Mercedes even with Bluetec diesel and cost more loses in fuel milege. And it's faster thru the slalom than the Merc. Emergency? If u stop driving then there will be no people needed to avoid ur ignorant driving.
btw it's RX and off road? LOL, tell me a person that would actually go offroading in their Luxury SUV. Everyone knows that most owner uses it as a boulovard cruiser.
Not to mention it should compare the ML to the GX model cause it's the same class vs RX should be compared with GLK
i know its rx,that was a typo. I know a lot of people who use their luxury suvs off road. Whats the point of one if it cant go off road. A 4wd volvo xc70 makes much more sense than either and will be far better to drive. And by raising the point that it shouldnt be compared to the RX you do your own argument damage. The ML is bigger and heavier and thats another reason its mpg suffers.
And how do you gather that the RX is faster thru the slalom? he just said the ML was far superior thru it!
Honestly who cares what u and I thinks. Toyota/Lexus serves world market well enough. As I am sure that the RX is out selling ML or any other Euro Luxury SUV out there. Lexus does their marketing job well knows what general public wants, then providing a reliable/comfortable/versital SUV that will do light offroading where 95% of people said they would do. If u want a real off-road capablity SUV please try to compare GX470 or the "King" LX570 (Just look at Dubai oil prince drive)
Yes i do agree that the LX570 is the ultimate off roader, i have a Landcruiser Amazon which is the same vehicle. but thats a Toyota Landcruiser more than a Lexus. And the Toyota version is far superior off road because the Lexus version has been for luxury. that said the landcruiser version is very luxurious itself.
G63 is still the coolest of the lot of them though.
Diesels = modern diesels are smoother, have more torque, better acceleration at higher speeds and at lower revs, lower emissions.
Hybrids = less fuel efficient actually, more emissions, less power and toruqe, cost more, limited lifetime of batteries, have to be reved. An obvious winner.
diesel is for tractor, audi r8 is out of audi program, the most important championship it's FORMULA 1, so diesel remain for tractor and Lexus it's much more reliable than Mercedes,in usa it's much more sellers
• Noisy: The test of the BMW 535d and 545i on Top Gear indicated a dramatically quieter ride in the diesel - it produced more power low in the rpm range.
• Stinky: Old diesels smelled because of sulphur, which has been almost completely eliminated from diesel now. Gasoline emissions smell bad because of HC.
• Dirty: The bluetec system incorporates the inherent efficiency of the diesel and advanced pollution control to provide a very clean engine.
So? Do you know how much such a battery costs and what lifecircle it has?
Diesel Mercedes in Germany are km eaters. I like more Diesel powered engine and hybrid, thats why I would choose the Merc, also because I like much more the interior...
That's merely your wish. Lexus has produced a hybrid super saloon called Lexus LS, and it still is remained to be the most reliable super saloon in the entire planet.
So what honestly makes you think that this Lexus will not be reliable?
LS has been out since the beginning of Lexus. Approx 19 years.
Engine? What about the engine? You mean reliability? It is as reliable as any Toyota cars.
You have no clue what you can do with the Lexus LS engine. Lexus IS-F engine is basically a cooked up version of Lexus LS engine, and it is beast fast. When LS sounds more like a gentleman, IS-F is more like a performance car. But LS still also can perform.
I had a friend who's parents used to own a 99 ML430 and it was just a POS. The side windows would tilt when you would roll them down, Motor would make some ticking sounds and eventually would refuse to start a quarter of the time, no to mention the doors would close properly. All this before 80K.
The Lexus is better, a friend's dad had a Mercedes ml280 cdi or something and he has so many problems, the lexus must be much better!

i prefer the DIESEL!! i've been driving my friend's hybrid but i avg at 15MPG... i have a heavy foot.. i can never let the electric motor take me around.. i just can't stand it....
driving a friend's TDI Jetta, i avg at about 29MPG with the foot down most the time... TDI better for me.. Hybrid, better for grandmas!! agree?? :)
rjmkv 2 years ago
i agree that you should drive the diesel
but so should grandma, she would prob get 45 if your getting 29 beating on it
diesels are so much better, no ignition system to go wrong, no huge battery to lug around and what about the environmental effects when that battery is thrown out? what will they do with all that acid and special ionic metals??
americans need to wake up
i love my E320 CDI, gets 40mpg and is a lovely beast

i don't think so, diesel is more complicate and delicate, i'm from italy and tere are a lots of diesels cars here, my experience with a couple of BMW's diesel was totally a disaster, wtf, i hated those cars! so i can say "never more diesel".

Cr3ativity 2 years ago 2
Thank you Edmunds for picking the winner based on REAL PERFORMANCE evaluations during your tests rather than PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Both the ML and RX are great SUV's but you cannot argue with the results based on this test. Not to mention they did not compare the new RX 450h which is more powerful while returning better MPG.

@DamnStraightM35A2 Tahts 1978. Everything from 10 years ago till now sucks. I recently saw a 2003 mercedes rust!!!! How is that possible?
d10230 1 year ago
@d10230 I agree, the last ten years have sucked, when the W124 went away after 1995 it was all over.
The way a 2003 Merc would have rust if if the rich, lazy owner never washed the salt off of it.
Thats why we gotta stock up on the old iron now, while it's still around, before everyone else is brainwashed into thinking hybrids are better than diesels.
DIESEL FUEL FOR LIFE!
DamnStraightM35A2 1 year ago
@DamnStraightM35A2 Yes but people have had mercedes for decades and i've only seen a few rust. But the ones rusting well all from the past few years. Even the 1990's the mercedes never rust. maybe it was a lemon. And hybrids are better if you live in a congested city where there is stop and start traffic, which can eliminate polution. MPG estimates do not facter in the start and stop traffic situations. Diesel is just better for constant driving.
d10230 1 year ago
@d10230 Funny, being from Canada you'd think you would have seen lots of rusty Mercs. I'm from PA and I've seen LOTS of rusty Mercs, mostly pre W210. I have seen lots of rusty W123's and quite a few W124's with rust.
The way you would have seen a 2003 rust is because in Canada they put plenty of snow melting chemicals on the roads.
DamnStraightM35A2 1 year ago
@DamnStraightM35A2 Yes they do put alot of salt onto the roads, thats why people don't bother driving nice cars. The people driving nice cars in the winter are usually really rich, or people or lease their cars. I personally drive my Range Rover in the winter just because i won't slide into a ditch and kill myself. Pretty much all luxury cars in canada that are used in the winter are AWD

RubikscubeNinja 11 months ago
@RubikscubeNinja Show some proof of that...damn tree hugger. You know that it takes a lot of energy and rare resources to make those batteries....
The diesel doesn't need a replacement...
DamnStraightM35A2 11 months ago
Batteries will only be replaced for free under the initial warranty (usually 8-10yrs or 80-100k miles, maybe 150k miles in California). I had an '06 Civic Hybrid and drove it over 105k miles on it's original battery when I traded it in for my Golf TDi. Nothing wrong with, just wanted something better on the highway. I can't stand it when people think the batteries will die the mile you drive past the warranty. And yes some Priuses have gone over 200k on their original batteries.

joranpoort 3 months ago
@DamnStraightM35A2 You are misinformed. Lexus has only been around for 22 years. Of course you don't see many old Lexus's. Now do you see many old Toyotas on the road? Certainly. If you think that comparing Lexus and Toyota is unfair then it is simply answered by Lexus is Toyota. In Japan Lexus models are even marketed under Toyota. Lexus was just a way to market to the US. Luxury EXport to US The capital letters spell out Lexus.
NewDivineWind 2 months ago
@NewDivineWind So if Lexus has been around for 22 years then there should be 22 year old Lexus's on the road. I haven't seen any. I haven't seen any 22 year old Toyotas on the road recently either....
DamnStraightM35A2 2 months ago
@DamnStraightM35A2 Now that would be the case but the world isn't that simple. If you are starting a luxury car brand, it takes a long time before the name is taken seriously. In the first year of Lexus, why would somebody buy a no name luxury car while they could get a name brand BMW? It took time for Lexus to build up sales so there almost no Lexus 22 years or even 18 years ago. Toyotas are the most common car on the road and old ones are just as common.

seriously, there is nothing so driveable about overpriced, overrated european cars. people who buy european cars just want to show off that they can afford an expensive name plate.
smart sensible people who know an ounce about engineering would prefer japanese luxuries - they have better ride, better fuel economy, better technology and great comfort.
lavakava 2 years ago
Better ride; WRONG.
Better fuel economy; well maybe, only because Jap cars offer no high performance models.
Better technology; that 's your opinion (which i disagree with)
Great Comfort; i can guarantee Euro brands are just as (if not, more) comfortable than Jap competitors.

4MATICbenz 3 years ago
wow, even in the most feminine color available, the Mercedes ML still looks more rugged and sporty than the RX.
4MATICbenz 3 years ago
The Mercedes is better, but the Lexus is much more reliable!I think that, the real SUV is the Lexus, the Mercedes is more than simple SUV. The mercedes is like a sporty wagon with AWD system, but the ML 320 CDI has better fuel economy, especially at high speeds.(80MPH+)
alfaromeo1986 3 years ago
The Mercedes is reliable, more luxurious, has more equipment, better acceleration at higher speed or at low rev, you can tow A LOT MORE, you can go off road(the RX cant), its highway fuel economy is the same as the RX and its overall cruising range is superior, bigger tires, better build and stronger.
Ok the ML might not be quite as fuel-efficient as the RX in town, but why dont you take a Jetta TDI if the only thing you care about is fuel efficienty ?

And those people who know nothing about cars would obviously say "Wow, cool!"
HondaJapanPride 3 years ago
did you see the lexus through the slalom? Its got comedy handling. Good luck to you controlling that heap of shit in an emergency. Mercedes came out on top in this years JD power initial quality survey. Suck it up bitch.
And then just look at the difference in quality of the interior. Try to tell me you prefer the Lexus interior and i will show you a blind fanboy who blindly follows a brand. Not to mind how repulsively ugly the Lexus is outside.
samsemtex 3 years ago
Ugly Mercedes even with Bluetec diesel and cost more loses in fuel milege. And it's faster thru the slalom than the Merc. Emergency? If u stop driving then there will be no people needed to avoid ur ignorant driving.
koukiR32 3 years ago
oh yeah and the ML actually has real off road capabilities unlike the RS which is basically a jacked up car.
samsemtex 3 years ago
btw it's RX and off road? LOL, tell me a person that would actually go offroading in their Luxury SUV. Everyone knows that most owner uses it as a boulovard cruiser.
Not to mention it should compare the ML to the GX model cause it's the same class vs RX should be compared with GLK
koukiR32 3 years ago 4
i know its rx,that was a typo.
And how do you gather that the RX is faster thru the slalom? he just said the ML was far superior thru it!
samsemtex 3 years ago
Honestly who cares what u and I thinks. Toyota/Lexus serves world market well enough. As I am sure that the RX is out selling ML or any other Euro Luxury SUV out there. Lexus does their marketing job well knows what general public wants, then providing a reliable/comfortable/versital SUV that will do light offroading where 95% of people said they would do. If u want a real off-road capablity SUV please try to compare GX470 or the "King" LX570 (Just look at Dubai oil prince drive)
koukiR32 3 years ago
Yes i do agree that the LX570 is the ultimate off roader, i have a Landcruiser Amazon which is the same vehicle. but thats a Toyota Landcruiser more than a Lexus. And the Toyota version is far superior off road because the Lexus version has been for luxury. that said the landcruiser version is very luxurious itself.
G63 is still the coolest of the lot of them though.

To counter your ramblings with fact:
• Noisy: The test of the BMW 535d and 545i on Top Gear indicated a dramatically quieter ride in the diesel - it produced more power low in the rpm range.
• Stinky: Old diesels smelled because of sulphur, which has been almost completely eliminated from diesel now. Gasoline emissions smell bad because of HC.
• Dirty: The bluetec system incorporates the inherent efficiency of the diesel and advanced pollution control to provide a very clean engine.
