...soon the iPhone 4.o OS will come out and that includes multitasking. And much more simple of course. This seems rather complicated for me to want to use a lot. I recommend iPhones to everyone. I would like a Pre, I have nothing against it, I just prefer my iPhone.
Does the Pre have GPS? And anything like MobileMe? Like tracking down the device and locking it. And can you sync it to a computer much like the iPhone?
Syncing would be compulsory for me, and backing up.
I dislike the Palm Pre. I had a go when it came to the UK, one at a store wired to a table. It seemed rather laggy, I couldn't be bothered to have a proper look over the lag and complicated controls. I didn't know how to exit running Apps that would have helped; even though its supposedly wont slow it down.
There are TOO many things on this copied straight from the iPhone. I'm not gonna bother listing them. But o be honest iPhones are better....
android is a good one for play espicaly with htc scene on top of it as well as windows mobile wiht htc sense ui on top of i but that is the only reason i would get windows mobile i don't like it much black berry is alright it serves its purpose but you need to use it to get to like it web os is nice to so i guess for just all around
android
web os
windos mobile and black berry tied
because i do not have to much experience with either so i cant make an accurate decision
@fierwall5 if u get winmo u will regret it, i don't care about sense on winmo; it's still a winmo.....no vibrant and useful apps for winmo and when u find any, it will cost an arm and a leg.....iphone may not be the overall best phone but the appstore is MAD, there is everything and anything in there.
Is the Palm Pre supposed to give the Iphone 3gs a run for its money? I can see it might give the Blackberrys some competion, but if Iphone could get there tarrifs down they would find a lot more kids using their phones!!
lol he says that with such gusto. "...little star here... which means that they're FAVORITES!!!" lol. This phone is sick, I just... dislike the button lay out for texting. Else it lives up to its name... pre. It's almost as good as an orgasm, just falls short by a hair. :)
from 1-5 it has a lot of cool stuff, i suppose this is part of the 4g network, and um it does have some catching up to do with apps and software, but all n all pretty cool well even thought its a phone too but its a mutimedia device.
I use an HTC Touch HD at the moment. My issue is that I need really good Microsoft Exchange support, and only Windows Mobile handles the folders properly at this point. The Pre comes close, but doesn't sync Exchange subfolders until you enter them, so you don't know if there are new messages there or not until you check.
I had this phone for a minute until I canceled my sprint service. This phone is bar far the best phone I have ever seen. It's like walking around with a laptop in my pocket or something. But spring service sucks in my area. Seemed like the service in this phone sucked more than other spring phones though.
Apples and Oranges kinda of comparison. The Pro2 is a work horse, while the Pre is more like a faithful companion. The Pre's battery life is its only real failing overall, but the Pro2 will be better in general for more work related tasks.
Wow mobile burn i am so suprised in you guys. This video is so late i mean not the usual late but around a week late usually you guys out due phone dog and other youtube reviewers but this time you guys didnt. but great review phone scoop beat you that was a major suprise.
Palm sent us the phone late, and so I decided to actually use it for quite a bit of time before I wrote a review. I've been using it 24/7 for over a week now, so I think I have a better idea of how it works when writing my review than most of the others. However, with that said, I was still pissed that I didn't get the phone when everybody else did.
I'm subscribed to phonedog and phonescoop and I will say your review seemed a little more thorough. You even showed me something I didn't know already (which is hard cuz I've been researching this phone for months) with the orange button cursor control feature.
The two things about the Pre that I realy envy as an iPhone user is the notification system and the cards system. Palm really handled multi-tasking elegantly. I think if Apple was presented with that they would've been like "holy shit that's awesome put that in the iPhone ASAP".. But Apple also doesn't like to put the onus on the user, as a lot of Apple's HUGE consumer base are complete idiots and don't understand more processes = less speed + less battery.

Have you gotten enough time with it to know what the battery life is like?
With mild usage (let's say around 10 texts, an hour or two of hardcore data usage, 30 minutes talking), how long should the battery last?
awkwardhawk 2 years ago
i think heard battery life is 5 days to a week = ]

No, this is still on a 3G network. There are very few WiMAX device available today, and WiMAX is only available in a few cities.

Do you prefer the Palm Pre to HTC Touch Pro2? Assuming you had a go at the HTC already.

Thanks for the review, this may be my next phone when it comes to europe. The multitask is just plain awesome and the compact design is a plus also.
Does Pre supports GoogleMaps? do you know anything regarding Google´s product for Pre i nthe future such as Google earth for example.

Google maps is pre-loaded on the Pre and works splendidly. I just didn't have time to show it (and others).
