Only this season just ended did Crofts score a carbon copy of Justin's goal and Fashanu was very much mentioned in the positive light that he deserved.
Thanks for this memorial. I met Justin Fashanu in Edmonton. I was working at the Urban Renewal Store downtown. Justin was a very well liked man, he was popular. I was always happy to see his smiling face and engage in some good conversation about some local issue or his work with the Brickmen. Justin had an amazing sense of style. The rare and high end lines our shop carried in those days appealed to his sophisticated sense of fashion. He was a gentleman. I'll remember him fondly. Sean O'Brenan
per tutti voi appassionati di calcio che ricercate un'opportunità per essere visti o che volete vedere dei futuri professionistiè online un nuovo sito KICKO .
A brilliantly articulated piece. F*cking marvellous. I share your sentiments 100% and can really appreciate what you said. I saw a docco about 5-6 years ago and since then always think about my childhood watching Graham Rix, Talbot et al. I never supported or really watched him either, but I really think they gave it to him hard. Great Social commentary Cheers Jim
He was a troubled soul and i wonder how many more professional footballers there are that are just as troubled because they feel they can not be openly gay. Awesome video well done
I'll tell you, he is the only professional footballer known that has ever "come out of the closet". There are numerous gay footballers out there, but (needless to say) no other wish to do so because of what happened to Fashanu. And of course the fact that they will lose a lot of money. And don't get me started on the taunting from the uneducated ones who are in the stands at football games.
Fascinating or not, the homophobia of football need to be put down to rest.
That was a response to CoincidenceTheorist's : "c'mon bro,... tell me what's the fascination with this geezer, I'm dying to know... no pun intended....."
what a shame he committed suicide...but isn't this a mental weakness rather than something caused by antipathy towards homosexuals?okay,he endured chants at matches...as do ALL pro players, and they're well-paid for it.perhaps he was depressed by having been caught in flagrante delicto with a 17yo boy who cried rape just a few weeks previously;after all,he had long since left the top-flight stadia and the crowds behind him.easier to blame the straights though, rather than discuss the sordid truth.
Miss u Justin! I was blessed to have met him, play footy with him in Canada. He played for Edmonton Brickmen back in 89. I was 15 playing at Nationals and he was there alnong with his teammates to help inspire us. He sure did. I had him sign my trainers. I remember that day clear as feck.
I had him sign my trainers. I thank u Justin for being able to cross paths with you . You are loved, remembered and respected. As a brother, friend, mentor and teammate. You will not be forgotten you will be honored. Its amazing how much we remember and what we forget. I remember you and I forgot about the allegations.LONG LONG ago. I hope you are enjoying playing footy up on the big stage. Save me a spot inyour staring 11, it would be an honor to play along side you one day. RIP brother.
Great Video, Justin is definitely an 'Unsung Gay Icon' pity most gay men would rather parade Kylie as an ICON as opposed to Justin who is a REAL GAY ICON
Thank you for that - really wise words. Dies the same day as Kevin Lloyd (Tosh Lines from the Bill). They had both been tabloid fodder for some time - Lloyd seemed to be an alcoholic whilst Justin was under investigation for `sexual abuse?????` (can`t remember). I don`t know why the Sun`s headline sickened me so much - they both shared a front page which read "Killed by Drink (over Lloyd), killed by shame" (over Justin). "Killed by the ignorant tabloids" would have done just fine I think.
Oh my god, I had no idea that his final tabloid epitaph could have been so disgustingly ugly... that's terrible. You hit the nail on the head. This ignorance can go on for how much longer?
He's still loved dearly by us Norwich fans.

Thank you. Outstanding. Justin was an inspiration to me as a Norwich kid. He still is.

Uneducated answer. Clearly he did struggle. Everyone knows that. Even Clough did - eventually.
