Let by side Benny Bailey`s incredible technic. Quincy said of him: "Benny composes while he plays." It is like with Pops, Dizzy, Miles, Clark Terry etc. After just a few tones you know who is at work. You should try his earlier works with the Hampton Band and then with Quincy Jones "Great Wide World Live!" from a concert (+Freddie Hubbard and with the drummer Stu Martin) in Switzerland 1961. Or the Free & Easy video (with Clark Terry an Joe Harris)!

Wow! Unbelievably great. Great singer and greater trumpet player. His solo was incredibly good. Too bad Chet Baker & this guy didn't do a couple of albums together. Chet liked to sing and then play his trumpet afterwards too. Great upload - thanks. Wish I had the album or CD.

Benny Bailey has been a great trumpet player from a technical point of view, one of the greatest lead trumpet players (especialy when he was with Clarke/Boland) and he had his own style as a soloist. I really like this his palying.
