It's an old fashioned first person dungeon crawling RPG, where you draw your own maps on the touch screen, make your own team out of a range of classes, develop these characters through skill points (put into abilities, stat boosters, passive effects, etc). A ye olde RPG in modern trappings.
It's also hardcore and brutal in its difficulty if you're not constantly paying attention and being cautious. For all this, though, it's excellent. Plus, I think it made me about 40 times better at RPGs.
got this game a week ago and still have to beat Fenrir. the game's tough & incredibly daunting at times, but hearing this music is keeping me going. Thanks! ^-^
This song and area in the game was my favorite. A cool looking place, the story is kicking up more than it has been, and I remember once I got here, I played Etrian Odyssesy non-stop until I finally beat the Final Boss of the game. XD
hahaa,I didn't play it yet, but I recall having that same attitude sometimes over great RPG's ^^
by the way, just like that, out of curiousity, how many hours did it take you to finish the game, story-wise. I was thinking of buying it, but I'm just a little skeptical :P
The game's a long one. There's no actual counter in-game, but I'd guess it takes about... 30-40 hours to complete the "Main game". And that's assuming you only ever train up one party...
In what sense are you skeptical? In that it won't be long enough? I've been playing for a week. Spent over 10 hours and am trying to beat the first boss on Floor 5. There's 25 floors (with an extra 5 at the end) so I'd say about a good 40 hours play overall at least.
The game itself has been on a few systems, so the music quality didn't take a particularly big jump for the DS [although if you've got both disks to the soundtrack you can hear the slight difference, it's minor]. It's still beautiful as is.
I love Petal Bridge from Etrian Odyssey 2 ! I wish you could put it in your B VGM list !
FFFF, you're so epic man :C

You have some natural power to post some songs in games I'm actually doing!! I'm on the 19th floor of the 4th Stratum : Withered Forest! ;)
I haven't heard the 5th Stratum yet, but this one is one of my fav. in the game

Few songs affect me as deeply as this one has.
I need this game.

Sounds like something on the GBA. Or in Mother 3. Maybe the haunted mansion or something. I don't know, haven't played EO.

Epic feel from 1:03
A really good dungeon-crawler game. Can't wait for the sequel to come to Europe.
