I went to see them in concert when i was about 16, best day of my life and i'm so glad i caught them before the hiatus. When this song came through in the progression i cried my eyes out. Then i smoked a joint sitting on the floor and reassessed my life listening to Glósóli. I still get shivers every time i hear any one of these masterpieces like i'm sure most people here do. As buzzinginourears said, you feel it in your bones, it's like your soul aches.
When I listen to this song, I become the music. I become the song. I become the instruments. The drum is my heart beating. The instruments are my breath. The song is my thoughts.
@TheAngryMarshmallow4 Wow, my english teacher did the same thing for us! except he showed us untitled 1. ( he showed us the music video). Thank you English teacher for introducing me to so many great bands, with out you i wouldn't even be listening to music right now!
First time I saw this band was in an obscure documentary, depicting leading edge music world-wide, over a decade ago. They saved Sigur Ros for the last segment of the feature, allocating a disproportionate amount of time to them. Seems obvious why, as they caused me to do some quick, albeit indepth research on the source. Withing two weeks I owned all their CD's. I'm good with New Age/Post Rock(for lack of a better description), but generally prefer less amorphous tracks. Great Stuff!
Just found this song today and have been listening to it while studying for my finals. The song is calm and mellow and there are no lyrics to distract you while concentrating. Great song for studying and on its own.
@mcordes102 apparently this song is also called E-bow, just thought of it.. The band actually had titles for the songs, and untitled 6 is called E-bow, because the bassist uses an e-bow in this song. My fault I gues ^_^
Basketballerke I must give you credit for a video that really does capture an amazing song. I love at 6:36 when the video really captures the power of the song. It makes me want to go to my knees as well!
not only is this album amazing, but it is a totally structrually perfect piece. just a set of theme and variations. and when i use the word just.... i mean totally perfect. tthis band are the best ever
Some of their songs are sung in what they call "Hopelandic". The Untitled ( ) album is sung completely in this way. Jonsi uses his voice as another instrument and it allows the listener to make whatever meaning they want out of the singing.
Amazing song..It has such a dark, atmospheric but at the same time beautiful Atmosphere..I love this song so much..Incredibly breathtaking...!
I thought this also might interest some of you..Some days ago I found a Band called "Nyctalgia" here on youtube...You should really listen to their Song called "Falling into nothingness".
It's beautiful, and definitely deserves more attention..trust me..
sticks and stones mate, sticks and stones, and i promise you i definitely will do a beautiful film and dedicate it just to you !! preferably a film about an idiot being strangled
The songs do have names, 'Untitled' is just what they decided to name some of them. I think they wanted to leave the title names blank so the song has more meaning to the listener.
The songs have no titles and the lyrics are not even in a real language. They did this because they want YOU, the listener, to interpret the song for yourself. Make up what it means to you. For this same reason, the booklet that comes with the CD consists of nothing but blank pages, one for each song, so you can write or draw what you think it means.
@TheTMVProject what song are you referring too? because they DO use icelandic in many of there songs. however, for this specific song and the untitled album, they don't use words. seriously, the say it right on there "about sigur ros" section on there website.
"sigur rós released their third album in october 2002, entitled ( ). the lyricless and titleless album was a darker, rawer and less accessible follow up to ágætis byrjun and came out to favourable reviews around the world."
sigur ros will never stop amazing me. i dont know how they write music like this. its not just listening to it, it brings some kind of comfort to me every time i listen to them. they are the eigth wonder of the world...
To me, this is what Sigur Ros videos should be like. Instead, they're always about children. I do not picture children when I listen to this music. The videos take away from the music, distracts from the music. This video does it right.
It was the first song that really made me cry...I was in the train and listened to this song..the more I heard it the more my eyes filled with tears..It was strange, I didn't know why, but it was the first time something like this happened to me..
It's a breathtaking, magical and misterious song..Sigur Ros are simply great..the best band in the world for me...
I also do music..melancholic and slow..maybe some of you would like it..it's on my channel..
I'm just fucking with ya. I love this song too, I think sigur ros is one talented band. very different and the sound is indeed unique and beautiful. I love chilling out to these tracks.
Everytime I listen to this song I have to shed a tear. I don't know why... it's so beautiful, magnificent, but it sounds so much like a farewell to someone beloved
The ( ) album is my favourite album of all time.. I have not had a day go past without listening to it!! This track is one of the best off it.. It grows on you more everytime you listen to it. God Bless Sigur Ros..
This song is so powerful. It gives me the chills. I just close my eyes and listen to the music. But for some reason.. I'm getting all teary. This song is amazing and I can't stop listening to it.
Hmmm... I don't know why, but I don't like this song that much. I have no idea why, but I mostly like untitled 1,3,4, 7 and 8. The other tracks I don't like quite as much as these. But still, I would never skip the tracks, since I love the album as a whole. It's very strange.
sorta. its hopelandic, gibberish. Jonsi sings the same nonsense syllables in different orders. The idea is to make the voice an instrument just like anything else.
i love this song, i love the video. so hard to make a video for this - harder than for any other song perhaps - but this is the only way to go. i think the fireworks are particularly inspired. well done indeed.
are these even human beings making such luch and grand, worshipful sound? i have often thought them to be angels or some such stuff, but that is selling ourselves short. alas, it is we humans who are capable of such beauty! what can we do to make more of our kind aware of this fact?
I know I've commented before, but since then, a lot of stuff has happened. This is practically the only band that can get me through the day anymore. The emotion mixed in with the well timed drum beats, and this mysterious language (at least to me) completely memorizes me and I just can't, for the life of me, turn away when I hear it. Their music is something unlike everything else. And that is a bloody good thing.
Thank you for this video. This song really means a lot.
