@Godzilla5alien I only have two minnows and we are waiting for the birth. Here's my tip save your money and go to the nearest lake and catch some. Get at least seven put them in A big tank so they have lots of room to interact. You might want to get some pebbles and one of those plastic plants to go in the tank. Then just let nature take it's course. Hoped this helped =)
Im planning to keep minnows as a feeder fish for my turtle. But the first time i kept it,it died.Yes,i use an air pump ... Most of the minnow that i kept it started to go down to the bottom of the tank and stay there and suddenly drop to the side and die.My friend said that when i bought it,some of the fish in the plastic bag have been there for a long time because it have also happened to him.Im not really believe it...Maybe the Air Pump is spoiled or others.....Any Advise??? Please!!!!
@madturtlefan A lot of the time the fish that come into the pet stores are mistreated and aren't given the same care and concern as more expensive fish are. because the are so cheap they aren't considered important. It could be that you aren't acclimating them right, or your water isn't up to standards. Also before you buy fish I would always ask them to feed, so you can see which fish are and aren't eating.
Well I just got about 80 of them from Petco and put them in a 55 gallon tank. I just make sure that my water conditions are pristine. I give them lots of nooks and crannies to hide and to set up "territories". They pretty much do the rest. You should also know that most of the ones that come from the pet store are juveniles so it could be a couple of months before they start breeding

dasadler123 Just so you know, rosy reds are known as fatheads in their natural colors, not flat heads

@madturtlefan Then ask them to feed them before they put them in a bag. That way you know they are healthy/.

@dasadler123 I actually had a rough time locating a good store to purchase them from
the popular big companys (pet smart, petco) are not around my house they are downtown so its hard to get there
and a small family owned petstore near by sells them for 69cents EACH..no way im paying that..usually its like 2$ for a dozen right?
KeySour 1 year ago
@KeySour Well here they are $.13 each so yeah it's about two bucks. look online usually I can find good deals on fish.
