I think the mech-man (your comic relief) Look alot like gunther. Think about it, he was already a mech-man in DX1. The augs would have changed his appearance (25 years on and an aug that changed his hair colour?)
they need jc denton and paul denton without them deus ex 3 will be nothing they need to have a longer storyline with a huge build up because in deus ex invisible war the storyline was way to short, and the build up was not as interesting the first deus ex was the best long but really interesting hope this one is twice as long with a wicked storyline
abbas7944: wait wait How do you want JC Denton to take part in the storyline of this game if this is a freaking prequel? It's 25 years before Deus Ex.
That gun hidden in the arm... very Ghost In The Shell like, i like it. Taking into account that we'll be mechs (not nanoaugmented, it's a prequel) I'd be glad our augments have visual traits on our character, and also that they are more creative (like the gun i mentioned) than the buff like standards of DX1... but also some of them, some more passive and some more active
Oh, I hate Adam's looks. I thought he was gonna be an awsome nerd-scientist-dangerous-regular-guy. :( I wanted him to look like Alex Jacobson from DX. I hate the cigarette...
I loved Deus Ex 1, as my own son, Warren Spector is the best guy who invented a game ever, and Deus Ex 3, is the prove. I also disliked Deus Ex 2, and remained disappointed from it, comparing with the first one. Warren Spector seems to have clear deas on what to do, let's hope Deus Ex 3, will simply Kick ass!
i like the new "cyber-reanaissance" art direction, and how society seems to be finding consul in the past to comfort them about a new era of augmentations and the invasive cybertisation of society. but it definately seems to contradict the grimy urban areas of deus ex 1
In my opinion, they did this whole "cyber-rennaissance" thing because if DX 3 is a prequel they have the interesting challenge of making DX 3 look like it takes place before DX 1 even though DX 1 was made 10 years ago.
They make the people look old fashioned but at the same time technologically advanced to achieve a "future in the past" kind of.
I think it detracts from the realism because the third one looks one way just because the first one looked one way.
In this prequel I`d most like to see characters which were very old in the original DE. For example I`d like to see Lucious DuBeers, Morgan Everett, Stanton Dowd when they were concieving the original Illuminati plot for world domination (I bet Beth was pretty hot in her 20s :)). Also Joseph Manderley Gunther Hermann when they were rookies :), and last but no least, I`d like to see, if possible, Bob Page when creating the gray death. Just my thoughts. I`d like to see familiar characters
Yeah I`d like to see what made Sam Carter famous (the Merced operation JC read about in school), and the terrorist attack on the Statue of Liberty (the bombing) that`d be mondo cool :). Also the triad creation in Hong Kong; all in all I`m very eager for the game to come out.
You might as well accuse IWar from ripping off the rich/poor altitudinal difference from Star Wars EU doing it with Coruscant (the capital of the known universe at any given time in the Star Wars timeline) or Final Fantasy VII doing it with Midgar. There may even be an example predating that. In any case, it could be justified as a revolution in urban planning gone wrong (think about gov't housing "projects") or mediocre.
Cyber-Renaissance has to be one of the most interesting monikers I've ever heard. If it's any synthesis of cyberpunk and steampunk it should be great. I know it's more like an anatomical renaissance, thus the sketches by Da Vinci, but it works, somehow.
Though I think that when they made that cityscape, they essentially took the city of Midgar from Final Fantasy VII and Blade-Runner-ized it.
Wow, the music's beautiful. I'll buy the OST if nothing else.
God help a designer at 1:45. Can you imagine being all "Aw, they'll love this guy, everyone will take him dead seriously. ...What you tube video? Oh God. He's a joke and the game isn't even Gold. Hara-Kiri!"
Thanks for putting this up. Hadn't heard of it, and it's great to get REAL in depth opinions. I'm sick of "game magazines" calling a circle jerk "depth".
Cyber-Renaissance. Finally. A game where the world ISN'T a blasted ruin.
Your friendly neighborhood sentience, just doing my duty.
Regardless of what DE3 turns out to be, your level of interest and subsequent ability to dig out gems of consideration is impressive. You've got it to an Art. Arigato.
If this game is lame i say we mob the building and punch them right in the testicles. IW was enough of an insult to the first if they screw this up so help me...
I mean, you could even argument that the augs heal you up automatically ... but I still don't like it. Autoheal is a feature of cheesy shooter games and it could be a signal in which direction DX3 will go...
Lets not forget that Deus Ex 1 was not without it's share of problems like dated graphics, clunky physics and some cheese ball story elements but it's openworld gameplay more than made up for it. It was innovative for it's time but I'm afraid this game won't even compare to Fall Out 3.
I think you are too optimistic about this, you didn't go into depth how this game is going to the mainstream kiddies (aka auto-healers). I see the Deus Ex series evolving further and further into a mainstream piece of crap. Deus Ex 1 was unreal, DX IW was somewhat tolerable, and now we have typical bad boy security guard trapped in the story. They just want to market the game, they don't give a shit about gameplay. I have serious reservations about this game, we need Warren.
lmao, 'among the pretty awesome things there were some belt buckles'
yeah, a bull, this isn't a western, it sucks
otherwise, looking pretty good so far, i will admit that the protagonist looks extremely conventional in that screenshot, taking his story into consideration he looks like neo from the matrix meets Barney Calhoun from Half Life, and the protuding cigarette adds no favors
Yes, the more I see him, the more I think that was their goal in creating him. Another Gunther. But they tried wayyy too hard and screwed it up big time.
They are in a great pickle. Dueto the last DE fail, they absolutely have to make this great. Gamers don`t allow many screwups. So yeah, they`re trying to create earlier versions of familiar characters like Gunther. For Example, Adam looks alot like JC.
It`s funny to see that they`ve picked this name "Adam" (the first being created by God) to be the protagonist in the sequel(if you look at the timeline, it all starts with Adam, later on comes JC, and Alex :))
I'm not sure that all evidence of the kind of tech we see in Deus Ex 3 would have vanished without a trace as a result of the Plague. You might see it in ruins, but it would still be there in some sense.
Deus Ex showed us a world that looked mostly like current-day, but had instances of advanced technology scattered over it. For example, a keypad here and there, while the real technology remained with the ruling class in places like VersaLife. I don't think that was necessarily a result of the Grey Death, but rather what we could have expected in a world becoming increasingly capitalist. If you remember the comments by Leo Gold at the top of the Statue ruins in the beginning.
Meh, I wouldn't advise on getting hyped up over any game. I'm a real cynic so I'm a pessimist about pretty much everything. While I won't be judging the game until it's out, I also won't be getting overly excited either.
You can obviously see that Adam is going to be a mech. Look at his picture!!!(0:35)Also look at this picture (1:17). Ring any bells? If anybody still doesn't know what I'm talking about, here are a few clues Gunther's skull gun and Navarre's arm gun (or something like that). To me, they seem very similar.
Hey, does anyone here think the name Adam was chosen because of the Adam and Eve thing. It would be very DX like since JC implies Jesus Christ. Taking it further, JC was a saviour (in both cases) but Adam was the first human/mech/something else...That could have some hidden meaning. btw im not religious or anything.
And nice vid! Will you make another one once the mag is out?
It kinda has that dx2's largeness.. I really didn't like that. dx1 was extremely well done, with lot of tiny features and things that made it fun to play. Anyway i dont except anything better that first, but i could be better than invisible war. I actually really like the idea about rich at the top.. Can i see those pictures in larger resolution somewhere? full scan of the article perhaps? Nice job with the vid :) im a huge fan myself :)
Glad to see you removed that "PMS" bullshit and used some logic by coming up with a reason as to why the tech would look so much more advanced. Good video.
Nice video as usual mate, gotta agree how the guy looks badass, which he fucken DOES. Also love that tentacles thing, funny shit man.
I do have a suggestion though: Link to the pictures in the description, so that people can see them and read the analysis as well. The pics in the vid are tiny as hell so it's really annoying to try and picture them both together.
Also, include some goddamn credits for the music. I WANT THAT MUSIC FFS, xD.
gonna be amazing, invisible wars wasnt as good but they will redeem themselves. also looking foward to half life episode 3

This is going to either:
a) Kick some serious ass
b) or kick it's own ass.
It depends if they treat it well during development, and whether or not its rushed for a release date.

i think that the other hand biomod (the one right from the spiderbot one) may be like the crossbow from the first deus ex.
