This is actually a bit misleading. The DivaCup is not supposed to suction onto the cervix - it's (or at least is supposed to be) worn in the lower part of the vaginal canal. It says so right on the DivaCup website.
@ckdubb I apologize if my wording is off. Because it "feels" as if I place it under my cervix, I use the word "suction". I'm just a user of the product and because of that, I have left a link to the Diva Cup website so that those interested can continue to do research on their on. My goal is not mislead but to bring light to a product that I like and I believe many other women will like as well.
All honest opinion...the theory is great, but I think I prefer the convenience of tampons. How long do you keep it in? And how do you deal with having to take it out when you're using a public restroom? I know it'll vary per person, but I'm still not sure bout the diva cup...lol Great vid tho lovely. So great of you to share your knowledge with us!! <3
@WasianBeauty I could never wear tampons b/c they hurt going up and hurt removing. Gross, I know. LOL! It does take some time learning how to use it in public restrooms but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Makes dealing with Shark Week so much easier. :)
@knobylob Duh, I know that but she wasn't explaining what a period was. You said she was talking about periods which she wasn't READ THE TITLE it says diva cup which is related to periods but isn't about periods. Make sure you clear up your statement :) and who old are you calling a "child" a bitch??? haha grow up. Your arguing over YouTube with someone you don't even know. lmao. good day!
@knobylob First of all sweetie, she wasn't telling me anything about periods! She was talking about a cup... So, yea and I have an opinion to say this video was weird and a little gross... Im 15 about to turn 16 in 2 months so what the hell do expect a teenage girl to be interested in???
@DivineBlackness OK so ever since you did your first review on this product it has been on the back of my mind. I have researched it from time to time and now with this video you have just made, I soooo want to try this. So I just went and ordered mine online!!!! Literally minutes after watching this I knew I had to give it a shot. Thanks for your openness and willingness to put out this kind of information. I don't think any women (or man) should be embarrassed to talk about such things!
I haven't experienced any major leaks. Depends on your flow as well. If you're heavy, you should probably dump more often. Most leaks I think can be attributed to maybe into having it sealed properly. And you do need to replace these cups every year I think. At least that's the frequency I replace mine with
I've considered using the Diva cup but I fear leakage. Have you ever experienced ANY leakage with this device? If so, what do you think was the reason?
@PurpleFairyWings I'd check with your gynecologist first. Menstrual cups are designed for ALL women, including virgins but there is also the risk that you may puncture your hymen if it's still in tact.
wouldnt it be your vaginal wall. that doesnt go all the way up to your cervix...that how far that brush goes for a pap smear. you dont put it that far up.

So... I wanted to try a menstrual cup because I'm sick of buying, using and throwing away pads. My mom used to use menstrual cups and she gave me a "keeper" (brown menstrual cup) that she had bought for my sister like 10 years ago--she said my sister didn't want to use it or something. I tried for a couple days to get it in there but couldn't get it to fit through. It's a big little sucker. I read online that the LadyCup is smaller-I bought one from Ebay and I'm eagerly waiting for it get here.
This seems unsanitary. I just feel like there is going to be some leakage upon removal. And seeing as I am a bit of a germaphobe this is not for me...hahaha...thanks for sharing though, I've always wondered about them!
@TGRAM7 I was turned off by menstrual cups when I first heard about them so I totally understand. But they are far from unsanitary. The silicone in The DivaCup is antibacterial so you've got more danger getting bacterial infections from tampons and pads.
@Iivelaughlovelust the average flow is anywhere from 35-80 ml or 4-6 tablespoons for the entire length of your period. the diva cup holds 30ml which is way more than will be discharged in one day. they say you can wear it about twice as long as a tampon but recommend cleaning it about every 6-8 hours.
@batalvitrinidad Unless you're a guy, there's nothing scary about talking about menstrual cycles. Don't knock it 'til you try it. Menstrual cups rock!
I'm quite interested in this, but what if you're athletic or move around a lot? Would it tilt or slip or something? I'm very intrigued, but a bit worried about using it
I've had one of these for years but haven't used it for just as long. No matter what size, technique etc. I use I leak. I so wish it worked for me 'cause I'm a fan of the idea. Turns out my cervix is tilted so that's why I can't get it inserted properly. #womp
@CokoChanel124 it basically suctions or covers the cervix and the discharge is collected in the cup. usually a tampon sits in the vaginal canal and absorbs the discharge.
@kristiebass they do have 2 sizes. on average a period is 35-80ml for the entire length of the period and the diva cup holds 30ml. they base the sizes of them on whether you have had children or not so I would check their website.
Okay.... so I have both sizes. I loved it for a while and then all of a sudden it stopped working for me. I haven't had children... I had the smaller size when I was 28 and now that I'm 34, I have the larger size, which I bought when I was 29. What gives? Insights appreciated! These two Diva Cups have been collecting dust for years.
Are you supposed to clean it out before reinserting it? Because I would feel a little bit weird walking out of the bathroom stall holding it to clean it.
'you dont even show how to put it in...
