For a 10 year old, Michael looked shy but so brave going onstage for the first time. The moment he hit the first notes...that was it, the king of pop was born!
@A11L9E yeah and not to mention they were kids much younger than the beatles lol and they knocked them off the chart, that really amazing for such small kids!
After watching these first two parts of this documentary, it upsets me that MJ was murdered the way he was (I'm not being harsh when i say this..Latoya Jackson already put it out their folks). And to think that his bum ass brothers and several others are cashing in on him the way they are after his passing. Now Sony is about to green light a 200 MILLION dollar deal.....and this man is DEAD! Yup, it's true. He's obviously worth more dead than he was alive!
I have to agree with @Funnypandalonies. He did it all and was it all. There will never be another talent like him ever. He worked so hard all of his life to achieve what he did. Thanks to Motown for discovering the Jackson 5. Michael was a fireball they couldn't put out. Great music all of his life. God is blessing him now and God bless the Jackson family. RIP Michael!!!!
i started crying when i saw him singing I Want You Back... it truly amazes me that even at such a young age he had the most beautiful sweet voice ever. its unbelievable. he definitely has a God given talent that NO ONE will ever match.. King of Pop doesn't do it for me.... it should be King of Music and Entertainment. period.
I love their family so nice and talented, they are special, the whole family, and the mom sound so nice and Joseph so supportive and all of them are humble!
Child stardom has it's ups and it's downs......but the downs is where things get crazy. A lot of child stars....like MacKenzie Phillips and Tatum O'Neal...even Drew Barrymore get into drugs...and Drew got into it at like age 12 or 13....I just don't know if I would want to be in the entertainment business cause while you may be known and loved by everyone, it's a lonely lonely place that I wouldn't want to be in.
R.I.P MJ he is n a better place now and he dosent have 2 deal with the negative energy here on earth anymore i will miss u MJ ppl u should be glad he is n a better place now instead of here on earth having 2 deal with the media and other things he went through im not saying im glad he's gone im saying im glad he can finnaly be happy now and rest n peace love u MJ
did britney spears and lindsey lohan get beat, what about these other fools who get on drugs and lose their minds.dont blame that on gettin a few whoopins' growin up.
you're assuming that the whole family was clean and never got into all that junk over whoopins. britney and lindsey were spoild rich kids to start with. there is a difference between spankings over something you did bad like, stealing, and cheatin. as apposed to takin a belt to a kid over gettin a move wrong while performing.
britney and lindsey were not spoiled rich kids to begin with. they weren't as poor as the jacksons, but they were far from rich. they just started young. britney was a regular gal from louisiana. she got on the mickey mouse club as a kid, and the rest is history. lindsay actually DID have an abusive father. both of them were also child stars, which many say does something to the psyche. there's something to be said about childhood stardom, isn't there.
what the heck does britney and lindsey have to do with Michael Jackson, other than the fact that they were childstars? Can they say they took charge of their own carreers when they turned 18? Can they say they paid for their own crap, wrote their own songs, choreographed the moves to their own songs? can they say they put anything of their own into anything they did?
i'm not a fan of either, or celebrating them. i was just responding to someone else's comment about them. idk why i know their back stories(i really don't), but i just thought it was unfair to accuse them of being "spoiled rich kids" as if their problems were null-in-void. this is why i hate youtube comments. you can never tell who someone is responding to.
its not his childhood that caused the drug abuse. It always hgurt him to have missed his childhood, but it was watching millions of people turn against him and say shit about him every day because of some bullshiting kid that made him depressed. If you found out that a whole country was against you just because of some lie...you'd wanna escape into your own world too.
THE ONLY THING THAT I THANK JOE FOR is bringing michael into this world(as well as the rest of the jacksons).....i do honestly believe that joe's abuse went further than just discipline.....your children should be able to come to you for support..not to be taunted about the size of their nose are called ugly..yes i also was spanked as a child growing up(when i did wrong) and it is more common in black families than white(no racist) but i strongle believe that joe was taking it to far!!!!
By all the kids accounts, Joe did more than just spank the kids. He took ironing cords and belts to them. threw them around, and choked them. Mike himself made an account of being thrown so hard that he broke a rib. He also made an account that in a fight he told joe that while joe may have had a hand in getting him into the business, there also came a point where he became his own business man.
i kinda agree, lol. even though people say he was mean, terrible and a slave driver his children were and still are amazing so i'm guessing he did something right
See, there again, you can't say he did everything right. Was he doing right while mike was witnessing him cheating on his wife? Was he right in encouraging this same stuff while knocking the crap outta MJ? How about tellin Mike that he was ugly and not his kid? He claims he did nothing wrong, while skipping the fact that there were many times where he crossed the line.
If more children of the past 20 yrs got Joe Jackson whuppings America would be a better and safer place. In fact if Joe Jackson really wants to make money he should copyright his formula for whuppings and include them in the stimulus package.
lmao dats kinda true..but he might have been a little more abusive..look what happened to michael. i still think hes a legend but i think he was hurtinq a lot
Not true at all it may work for awhile but soon someone will protest it, think about the woman rights movement and all the other stuff they fought. Earth is virtually hell and it till it ends its just gonna get. And those kids did not deserve that abuse he could have controll his kids without makeing them feel belittled and unloved, if he was a real man of god he'd be a better roll modle. My daughter is extreemly bad but I'm not gonna bust her in the head, I'ma teach her how to act.
Beatings? Or discipline? Most black people would say we rec'd our just due of spankings. Whites don't spank..ie:Britbey,Lohan,Paris...lol...whatever went on in their household, Katherine was no different from Hilary Clinton & Jackie Kennedy. People hate to see black people successful w/o finding a room full of skeletons. All families have issues. But 2 day, look at these kids now?No one is even home to give a damn or they are caught up self to instill morals & values! Only God knows the TRUTH!
Your comparing two different era's. Discipline in the 60's and 70's are considered beatings today. As far as the abuse the Jackson children received, Michael and Latoya in interviews have both said the discipline was extreme, Michael was terrified of his dad to the point even as an older child he would get physically ill and throw up just seeing his dad. Now I don't know anyone from the 60's or 70's who got sick when seeing their parent over normal discipline.
I totally feel you & agree. Even above Freak Magnet is trying to justify what is...by using era's as a reason why! The fact is,if you look at the methods of discipline, whites differ from blacks..whites differ period. It is sad that a double standard still exists but it does. Ig U look @Brittny,Paris,Lohan, they have been pardoned...forgiven..while people are still trying 2 confirm Toya & MJ's one time interviews.Again I stress, you see none of the Jaxkson kids in the news do you?
Not only do you not see them or the grands in the media, people hate to give credit of any kind for these children they raised against all odds in an era where statistics were set for them 2 fail! Joe& Kat are indeed responsible for how they raised the Jacksons & the sacrifices 7 dedication to seeing them not become victims of this society & to be the successes they have been! No one talks about Toya's braIwashing or Joe's presence @MJ's trial.Yeah,MJ sure was pushing his dad away! Please people
I can totally identify with your frustration..its easy for people to accept MJ as long as they feel they can sympathize with his pain of a failed/horrendous upbringing.MJ has also said his success was due to the discipline & drive instilled by his dad. Remember folks, beatings are what they slaves received...those were beatings....Black parents spanked to prevent further beatings that still go on when black kids aren't well behaved, of are & still find themselves @ the mercy of Rogue cops.
Yeah but not everything A big part of it was.. But sure not everything and katherine was no victim she made her own choice to stay in the relationship she could have left... And By no Means am i saying Joe was right to slap them but Look were they are now...
what's going on in your house . all families have secrets . did the means justify the accomplishments of the family . we all have on the job training when it comes to raising our children . what works in one house doesn't work in a nother .
Actually, what I am interested in is why he talked like a 12 year old his whole life, even the psychologists concluded that he was like a 10 year old boy. Something particularly stressful happened to him at that time, I think. It did not look it from stage, he must have been hiding it well, but it is so curious. MJ's story will hunt me for a loooooong time.
Such a talented family. Michael was born to do this, look at him on that stage just as comfortable and at ease. His mother Katherine is just a sweet soul, you can see where Michael gets it from.
Seeing Katherine reminds me of Michael. Her kindness her gentleness. Michael idolised his mother and you can quite clearly see it is her he has tried to immitise all his life. God bless Katherine for bringing an Angel into our world. Michael I believe you are were you belong, in heaven with wings. You can RIP Michael xox
yeah but where was the mother while he was getting abused all those years? why did she not step in and stop it while he was being so cruelly tortured : (
i agree w/u completely i think she loved him with all her heart,i think she was great but i get the sense that she didnt do anythin 2 truly help/protect him cuz there also an interview with mj from 1980 its here on yotube in case u havent seen it n she says "michael has gotten quiet...he never used to be that quiet" and when i saw that i though 2 myself y didnt she shake him n ask him whats rong, tell him he was beautiful something! i feel like she loved him n he knew but i think she jus watched
Katherine was still in Gary. Joe took the boys with him firt then about a year and a half later the rest followed. Watch the Martin Bashir interview with Michael Jackson, there's a part when he's talking about the abuse and Katherine used to tell Joe to stop hitting while he was doing it. She would scream at him telling him to stop or he'd kill them.
So you're condoning beating a child in order to make them successful? so constant abuse, beating, and torture, not to mention to deep emotional scarring it left behind is the only way to "help start" a successful career? you either must be joking or not in the right mind; yeah ur right because all those "successful" people out there now had to endure all that cruelty from a parent in order to get to where they are now!
And by the way, it wasn't just Joe hitting his kids that made them successful. they had sheer, raw talent; treating kids the way he did is NEVER okay, if that happened in todays world, he wouldnt have lived to see them again. instead of poking fun at sweet michael for certain eccentricities, society should realize the horrible upbringing he endured, no real childhood, didnt get to play w/ other kids, etc AND despite that he was an EXCELLENT father. God bless him!
Thats not the point! to quote exactly what you said: "it helped start their careers " thats an exremely naive/dumb comment to say and any sane person would think that youre condoning that behavior! now put a sock in it
First of all, I WASNT judging at all, it was just a comment implying that I was wondering what exactly did she do try and stop the abuse since no one really knows. Im sure she was a wonderful loving patient mother; but its not okay for a wife tolerate a husband who constantly beats/abuses kids :( and if she stood up thats great, but I wish she took the kids away from him,it just pains me to think of all the pain that michael endured growing up; the "father" should be locked away for that.
According to Latoya, the mom just sat there & watched the beatings. MJ said his dad sat w/a belt during their hours of rehearsals & would beat the kids that messed up. The mom permitted it. She was an enabler of the dad. Latoya also said her mom was VERY controlling even into her adult years which is why Latoya did the Playboy spread just to tell her mom "you can`t tell me what to do anymore". Of course that was a childish way to claim one`s independance but emotionally she was a child.
That is hard to say. Finding truth in this family is difficult b/c there are a lot of coverups to protect the image of the family, but Latoya did say the reason she did Playboy was b/c her mom was trying to control her. Those were her words. Later she retracted many of her stories (I don`t know if this is 1 of them) BUT MJ`s stories confirm the stories she retracted. I think the control story sounds more legit than her ex forcing her, but only God knows the truth.
LaToya has also gone on record as saying she was brainwashed & MJ has said the reason for his success was due to the discipline hard work & values his dad & mom instilled in him. Every child usually declares independence in some way.Yours too, it just wasn't on broadcast. Look @ Britney Spears,Jessica &Ashlee Simpson @ Lindsey Lohan...open your minds people......you can't see into these people's lives.Or can U?..lol...
I agree Joe helped his kids become famous. But you can discipline without abusing.
Joe crossed the line and created a climate of fear within his own family. He was a bully and a tyrant. Everyone lived in fear of him from what we hear.
He took it too far and raised a son who took things too far. He was too hard on Michael and scarred him for life. That is wrong no matter what kind of spin some people want to put on it.

You can RIP Michael xox

yeah but where was the mother while he was getting abused all those years? why did she not step in and stop it while he was being so cruelly tortured : (
kanchan112 2 years ago
i agree w/u completely i think she loved him with all her heart,i think she was great but i get the sense that she didnt do anythin 2 truly help/protect him cuz there also an interview with mj from 1980 its here on yotube in case u havent seen it n she says "michael has gotten quiet...he never used to be that quiet" and when i saw that i though 2 myself y didnt she shake him n ask him whats rong, tell him he was beautiful something! i feel like she loved him n he knew but i think she jus watched

So you're condoning beating a child in order to make them successful? so constant abuse, beating, and torture, not to mention to deep emotional scarring it left behind is the only way to "help start" a successful career? you either must be joking or not in the right mind; yeah ur right because all those "successful" people out there now had to endure all that cruelty from a parent in order to get to where they are now!
kanchan112 2 years ago
And by the way, it wasn't just Joe hitting his kids that made them successful. they had sheer, raw talent; treating kids the way he did is NEVER okay, if that happened in todays world, he wouldnt have lived to see them again. instead of poking fun at sweet michael for certain eccentricities, society should realize the horrible upbringing he endured, no real childhood, didnt get to play w/ other kids, etc AND despite that he was an EXCELLENT father. God bless him!
kanchan112 2 years ago 2
well no shit they had raw talent.
r3v3r3nd2008 2 years ago
well apparently your demented mind thinks that they had to get beat into having talent!

Thats not the point! to quote exactly what you said: "it helped start their careers " thats an exremely naive/dumb comment to say and any sane person would think that youre condoning that behavior! now put a sock in it
kanchan112 2 years ago 2
hows it naive?

She stood up to joe countless times and how dare you judge her.
freejdc1 2 years ago
First of all, I WASNT judging at all, it was just a comment implying that I was wondering what exactly did she do try and stop the abuse since no one really knows. Im sure she was a wonderful loving patient mother; but its not okay for a wife tolerate a husband who constantly beats/abuses kids :( and if she stood up thats great, but I wish she took the kids away from him,it just pains me to think of all the pain that michael endured growing up; the "father" should be locked away for that.

how u know she did?

According to Latoya, the mom just sat there & watched the beatings. MJ said his dad sat w/a belt during their hours of rehearsals & would beat the kids that messed up. The mom permitted it. She was an enabler of the dad. Latoya also said her mom was VERY controlling even into her adult years which is why Latoya did the Playboy spread just to tell her mom "you can`t tell me what to do anymore". Of course that was a childish way to claim one`s independance but emotionally she was a child.
paisleyyama 2 years ago 6
no latoya was forsed into doing playboy by her ex husband, he forsed her to do alot of things she didnt want to coz he beat her if she didnt
lilhornetx 2 years ago 5
