This was awesome advice. My vet sold me that pill popper device that sends my can into lock-down mode the minute he sees it. Now I just make my own "pill pockets" out of wet cat food and throw the pills into his dish. He eats them up every time. This has made his care so much less stressful for both my cat and I. Thanks.

My cat is EXTREMELY finicky! I have tried giving him the pill orally (nearly impossible) and pulverizing the pill and mixing with tuna juice for a syringe squirt (also very difficult). I tried these pill pockets and they worked!! Thank you very much!

It's a good idea to give these as a treat occasionally without the pill in them, for those cats who are very saavy!!!

You can find them on ebay, and have them shipped to the UK. They work great, I sometimes crush the pill and put it in the pill pocket, so there won't be a "piece" or chunk in the soft treat.

Thank you so much for posting this. I just found out my cat needs meds twice a day, one for life, and knew he was a terror to pill, but he loves the beef PP so pill time was so easy. Hope they continue to work as well. Will try tearing them up into smaller bits to save money. Thanks again. Really helpful!

Hey, I don't suppose you've found a UK source for pill pockets yet, have you? They're on ebay UK , but they're based in the US, and I don't fancy paying customs on top of the HUGE prices on there!

I sometimes had that problem. The dog beef pill pockets seem stronger smelling and tasting, my cat loves them. The big dog ones are cheaper per oz, and I just break them up. Boo eats them up with the pill every time now.

They don't work with my cat. She'll just eat the pill pocket off the pill and spit the pill out. I've wasted a lot of pill pockets and they are very expensive. If it was a tiny pill it might work. The ones she has to take are so big you have to stretch the pocket pretty thin around it.

lol. I had a similar experience. I did learn how to give her the pill straight STRESS FREE. I posted a video demonstrating how, if that interests you. PS that sounds like a huge pill - have you considered breaking the pill into halves or quarters? If she likes tuna fish, you could hide it in the center of tiny balls of tuna fish, too.

Boo is right that Pill Pockets may not work for all cats. It is recomended to give 2 Pill Pockets when it's time to give pill. Make sure your pill hand does not touch the PP hand. Give the first, empty. Wait a few seconds to give the PP with the pill inside of it. The saliva is up in cats mouth, and will help to digest the medication faster. One may also give a third PP, or other treats as a chaser.

Pill pockets are great for a majority of cats but they will not work for every cat.I gave my cat one and he attacked the pill pocket chewed it up and spit out the pill!

last time we tried to give my cat a pill, I held his mouth open and my bro tried to throw the pill in, but he missed and hit the cat in the eye xD. you've never seen a cat so confused!! there we were, holding his mouth open and throwing crap in his eye hahaha. we're such amateurs...apparently they will eat a pill on their own xDD

We got him in feb 07. Calico was always reluctant. Sphynx always wanting to play. But they seem to pull together in the face of outside threat like the music or the birds and squirrels. Lately they've actually been found laying almost toe to toe (not cuddling) sleeping. We've been surprised.

Not hypo-allergenic, it's saliva and dander which makes allergies in humans from cats. If it's fur which bothers someone, that problem is non-existent with hairless cats like Sphynxes and Peterbalds.
