  • No one sang this better than Patsy Cline, period. Listen to every version, then play Patsy's, no comparison.Don Gibson did a great version on RCA records though.

  • @galesgym,

Your info seems to be in error. On March3 1956 I forgot to remember to forget by Elvis Presley was #1 on 2 charts' Why Baby Why by Red Souvine & Webb Pierce was #1 on the D.J. chart. Faron's version of Sweet Dreams charted on July 9 Don Gibson's original on august 11th. Neither one reached #1.

  • THIS IS TRUE COUNTRY WITHOUT ´EM DEAD-BLASTED VIOLINS !

  • Anyone know what that guitar is? Looks loke a fendr acoustic but doesn't have the knob on the headstock

  • Faron really did this one better,,,,I never knew. *sigh* wow ♥

  • this is a good version but tommy mclain's version sold more copies then patsy cline ever did..

  • @pearlman08 McLain was something of a one-hit wonder wasn't he?

  • Faron Young did this song better than anyone else - sadly our so called country radio won't play it.

  • @Gatorrock787

Emmylou's version went #1 on Dec 25, 1976. It spent 2 weeks at that position.. It was Emmylou's second #1 hit. I still like Faron's version best. lol

  • @glipzik Someone's version was number one on 3/2/1956, who's was it? I don't know!

  • Actually Emmylou Harris is the only artist to take this song to #1. Faron, though, IMO had the best version by far. I never did like Patsy's version. For one thing it wasn't country and she sang it with more histrionics than true feeling.

  • @glipzik I've never heard Emmylou's version... I'll take your word for it. This is a tough song to sing... big jumps between notes.

  • According to Diane Diekman's book "Life Fast Love Hard, The Faron Young Story" Faron's 1956 version peaked at #2 and stayed on the charts for 8 months. Patsy's version, which she recorded a month before she died in 1963, only reached #5.

  • Good memories, thanks!

  • FARON WAS GREAT,I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I first heard this version in 1986 on the Charlie Douglas Road Gang midnight radio show. WLW, New Orleans. Today's so-called country radio can't touch these gems.

  • Faron Young is one of the Greats and Patsy Cline is too but Sweet Dreams doesn't belong to either one of them it's Don Gibson's Song Patsy just made it a bigger hit than Faron young did but i love both versions so i can't complain.

  • great stuff love the classic country

  • Patsy took over poor Faron's song, lol

  • One of Contry Musics al time GREATS For SURE~Steve

  • Dr Lou Childre beside Ernest Tubb
