  • great cover

  • it's bad ass. I still prefer The White Stripes version though

  • I LOVE this BAND! ....for about 40+ years now!

    Aint't Charlie Watts "the SHIT"?

    Of COURSE he is!

  • watch?v=KsBa0prOb0g

  • 5 people need to stop breaking down

  • Robert Johnson is dancing in his grave!!!!

  • "moistvagina88"? Nice.

  • 3 people need shot

  • @MrAugustus88 do me a favor and fuck off , this is pure blues from the best blues band , stones were not always psychedelic if you want that go listen to type of music theres always beatles trash sgt peppers

  • This is mainstream blues crap, The Rolling Stones are a psychedelic progg band

  • mick taylor's solo at the end is from the gods

  • I think Jagger got the idea for this song. It's a lot different from the rest of the album. I like it, but it doesn't sound like the rest of the album.. :)

  • @ConservativeDK no this is a Robert Johnson cover, personally I think it works very well with the album (simillar sound to Ventilator Blues, Hip Shake Boogie)

  • this might be my favorite song on exile.

  • What means "Stop Breaking Down''?

  • @eliofire "stop breaking down" means "stop being a bitch"

  • ミック・テイラーのスライドが光る粋なブルースナンバー"STOP・BREAKING・DOWN"~~私には散漫なストーンズメインストリート"だがこれはいい!

  • 3 people can't stop breaking down

  • 3 people were born the thumb on the other side of the hand...

  • clapton , abba ,, geeze you guys the rolling stones are the greatest rock and roll band in the WORLD (abba) yikes

  • i still like claptons "sessions for robert j" version better, but this is pretty awesome too

  • Another desperate attempt by the Stones to sound authentic.

  • @TruthAxe They made more than you ever will and you're judging them on authenticity?

  • You amuse, @BaggedGnome. McDonalds have earned billions more than I ever will. Yet, no one would claim that McDonalds cooks and sells an authentic burger.

Do you even know what the word authentic means?

    HA HA HA. You amuse.

  • @TruthAxe If you want to get technical, sure.

    Of undisputed origin; genuine

Made or done in the traditional or original way, or in a way that faithfully resembles an original

Based on facts; accurate or reliable

    --

    Problem?

  • @TruthAxe Yeah, and they did a brilliant job doing it, pal.

  • great song

  • The Best band Ever! I love The Rolling Stones!

  • Mick Taylor was never replaced!

  • A wonderful tribute to Robert Johnson..... From the greatest album ever recorded

  • ストーンズ"メインストリートのならず者"の価値をあげる、"STOP BREAKING DOWN"~~ミック・テイラーのスダイドがアーシーで固い、激ブルースブギだ!

  • This song fuckin rocks and requires that you turn up all the way with that AMAZING Mick Taylor slide guitar behind Keith.

  • THS ALBUM IS BY FAR THE GREATEST EVER. SHEER BRILLIANCE. JUST LISTEN THIS SONG; A SLIVER OF BRILLIANCE!

  • I hate to think of the day the stones stop rolling :(

  • nifty username my pal

  • @TheMadifee

    Yes, very classy.

  • come on "Piggy Piper" give me this sound

  • 3 people either thought the button said "dis i like" or they should stick to listening to ABBA

  • @prober45 or they must have really liked, in fact. What if they just have cats jumping from their laps onto the keyboard? These things happen, man, believe me!

  • @prober45 abba shreds

  • @prober45 Hey, I like The Rolling Stones as well as ABBA, if you want to criticize someone, criticize Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne and all those other shitheads!

  • @dementedboy1 well I really can't argue with that. I was thinking in terms of music not total trash with a beat

  • @dementedboy1 Looks like someone got offended... Let the guy criticize what he wants. Bad music didn't start with Bieber, ya know?

  • The Stones sure do pick good stuff to cover. This isn't the first Robert Johnson song that they covered either. Love in vain. They like covering Slim Harpo too.

  • @Paulsworks Robert Johnson is dancing in his grave!!!!

  • Mick Taylor imrpoved the Stones and should have been given more cred

  • Robert Johnson is a historic icon what it was destined to be a very remarkable figure to establish the lines of musical changes into blues rock history. It is very tasty to appreciate the guitar lines of Mick Taylor in this song with his slide in the Les Paul or Custom Gibson. A great thing about Rolling Stones is that Keith, Mick and Ron have been very jealous about what amplifier to choose to play to keep their true essence.

  • ミック・テイラーの存在感、STOP BREAKING DOWN ! by STONES ~粘リに粘るスライド

  • 3 people are brain dead.

  • GODDAMN! THESE DUDES ARE JUST SO FREAKIN' GOOD. NOBODY CAN TOUCH THEM. I'M 25 JACK. IT DON'T GET NO BETTER THAN THIS.

  • Best song on Exile, hands down.

  • Great song. Nothing before or after stacks up to Exile, as a genuine blues rocker, cept ya ya's. Why he left? All 2nd guitar players (hello Ronnie) to Keith's ego meet w/misfortune in their lives-thats why MT left (he's 2 much a gent to say so). It's also why MJ rarely speaks to KR too. Mick Taylor, any real blues fan knows, is the real deal. All the good riffs left the Stones with Mick Taylor ~ please don't start me up...lol

  • Ronnie is not Hendrix or Clapton. But does the Stones' music really need long, sophisticated solo? After Taylor left Wood did a good job with the Stones otherwise Richards would kick him out long time ago. "Some Girls" album is one of the Stones' bests to me.

  • I think that the mix of talent that supported the great bands is where the real talent lies. Guys like Bobby Keys sax on Exile, and Mad Dogs, with guys like Carl Radle who was with Derek and the Dominoes, and Mad Dogs, and Nicky Hopkins from Jeff Beck Truth, Exile, and New Riders, That's what made the music I grew up with so good. We shared music, and ideas. and brought it all together Our generation visualized a better world through great music. Like John said, All you need is love.

  • 5 stars ***** :)

  • mick taylor is cool

  • Robert Johnson sold his sole. I would do it too. To create this shit.

  • best fuckin track

  • nobody played the blues like the stones when combining it with rock and roll.

  • Mick Jagger on harp, Mick Taylor on guitar and Nicky Hopkins on piano....love it!!

  • @merossi1 Mick Jagger is on rhythm guitar!!

  • Stuff I got 'll bust yer brains out baby, it'll make ya lose yer mind!!!

  • my favorite version of this song

  • You have the best YouTube name of all time, Mr. Moistvagina88

  • @PlywoodWingsFilmCo : is the moist vagina named after the nirvana song???

  • not the best cover they done i think. but they owned little red rooster even better than the doors cover!!!!

  • the bees-stop breakin down check it out i think its a better version got more mojo!!!

  • you have a rather odd username......

Nice Video though, I like this song. Heck, I love this album!

  • Comment removed

  • since I got this album I listen to it like twice a day

if ever I die ill take a copy with me

    thank for uploading

  • @aljosha12

So will I. Unfortunately, I won´t be able to listen to it in my grave. Maybe there will be some kind of god.

  • @stercoraniste333

my god died 40 years ago...

still, keep rockin till the end!

  • @aljosha12 Now go back and listen to the original mix and recording from 1972 and not the remasterd 2010 release...original is MUCH better. Really captures the chaotic yet lethargic drug enduced atmosphere of what was going on at Nellcote during their tax exile. The mix in LA of that album is a real head scratcher too, but nonetheless this is one of the greatest rock albums ever put to tape.

  • @cgraber

    got that of course :)

but one day I think i`ll get a remastered copy to see what they did to this masterpiece...

  • Thank you Robert Johnson!!!

  • what a great song

  • j'adors les rolling stones good musique and rock"n"roll oooohhhhhh yeaaa baby

  • THIS is what I'm talkin' about - and why I could never get into the Beagles.

  • How about pete townsend ?

This is an awesome album....jagger at his best.

  • Chet Atkins. It doesn't get any better on guitar.

  • Rory Gallagher, Paul Camilleri

  • The "5 best guitars" is a subjective choice. Each has the best guitarists, but there is only 5 chairs in the Olimpus ...

  • Pablo Manavello...

  • Jeff Healey did a monster job on this...

  • gotta say jack white did this one better. but this is really good too

  • The Stones, White Stripes, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, only to name a few...They all have their style. The POINT is that Robert Johnson's music is still alive more than 70 years after his death.

  • @Iamthewalrusgoogoo i love this comment cause i love robert johnson!

  • @Iamthewalrusgoogoo could you give me some starters tunes from robert johnson as never heard of him thanks!

  • @RichMichael1980

Robert Johnson only recorded 29 songs, so its pretty easy to grasp his whole discography, but if you want my personal fave...Sweet Home Chicago, Little Queen of Spade, From Four Till Late

  • @Iamthewalrusgoogoo That's not true:D I have a CD from Robert Johnson, a official CD with 41 tracks:D

  • @sanderveendam LOL...Tell the truth. You dont say that out of the 41 tracks, 12 are alternate takes. ;-)

  • @Iamthewalrusgoogoo Absolutely right.

  • aguanten los stones !!!

  • Mick Taylor is one of 5 best guitars all the time. J.Hendrix, J.Page, M.Taylor, E.Clapton,J.Winther, need more?....

  • @PENTADACTYLON

    Robert Fripp...King Crimson

  • Peter Green and Jeff Beck

  • Jeff Beck pass, Peter Green none.

  • Yeah Jack White.

  • @PENTADACTYLON

What about Stevie Ray Vaughn? I personally have to include Django Reinhardt in any list of best guitar players of all time. But you and I agree on one point, and that is that Mick Tayor is great.

  • @PENTADACTYLON You forgot about Chuck Berry.

  • @Davis752 Please, give me your 5...

  • @PENTADACTYLON I'd say: Hendrix, Berry, Johnson, Page... Hard to choose the last... maybe Duanne Allman.

  • @Davis752 no chance page is in front of Duane Allman... mine would be Hendrix Clapton Allman Anastasio Garcia.

  • @PENTADACTYLON Jimmy Page isn't even a top 500 guitarist.

  • @TruthAxe Please, give me your 5....

  • @PENTADACTYLON SRV, thats who i need lol

  • @groundedsax Please, give me your five...

  • @PENTADACTYLON sure...SRV, clapton, hendrix, allman, i guess page but maybe an old blues guitarist like johnson or bb king or a jazz guitarist like les paul or django reinhardt depending on how im feeling lol

  • @PENTADACTYLON

Mick Taylor definitely is in that class. Listen to Get Your Ya-Yas out, for example. All the best guitar work is his.

  • @PENTADACTYLON

I love the Stones, but they really screwed him over. I guess their egos were too big to allow such a talent to stay.

  • @PENTADACTYLON

Eddie Van Halen, Tom Morillo, Carlos Santana, Steve Stevens

  • The best guitarist the stones had, JOINED the band in 1969.

When he left, it wasn't a good thing for him, nor for the Stones...

  • @obieito THE STONES DID ALLRIGHT AND STILL DOING GREAT

  • @obieito : taylor was great but I don't think as good as richards man.

  • @obieito ---someone educate me, why did Mick leave? Or was he forced too? I never got the full story. Thanx!

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 Mick left because he never felt like he fit in and his contribution to the band was kept to a minimum. He had wanted to quit earlier than he did but felt that staying on the Stones for five years or so would be useful as a springboard to a solo career. Keith called his quitting a bombshell in his recent memoirs. Unfortunately for Mick he's not a great personality. He's great as a guitarist, but as a solo artist he never was able to take it very far.

  • @JoeKersten --Thank you very much, Joe. I appreciate it.

So as I understand it, he played on Beggar's Banquet through Sticky Fingers? Was that 4 or 5 albums altogether?

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 Actually he first appeared on Let It Bleed but only on something like two tracks. He was their guitarist heading into the recording of Black and Blue as well but quite just as they began recording. At that time Ronnie was still in the Faces and only played on select tracks with Wayne Perkins (who was actually their first pick) and Harvey Mandel playing the others. Ronnie wasn't given the job full time until after the Faces officially split.

  • @JoeKersten keith richard's memoirs are about as reliable as a one dollar watch. He was a heroin addict during this period and essentially drove Taylor out because he couldn't cope with his own inability to play and Taylor's talent. Rehearsal footage bears this out. He struggled to get on top of things and was often excoriated for his 'handcuffed' playing. To this day, many people mistake his playing for Taylor's.

  • @dermotwalker That's laughable. Right Keith has continued on without Mick Taylor for the last thirty six years because he's, luck? Taylor never felt wanted in the Stones so he left, there isn't some big conspiracy attached to this. And apparently you didn't understand my comment. Keith called Mick's leaving a bombshell. Keith fully understood Mick's importance to their sound and didn't want him to leave. I'm getting really bored of people who feel like Taylor got a raw deal.

  • @JoeKersten Leaving aside the literacy issues in your post and the fact that I couldn't care less what you're bored with (not 'of'), I understood your theory perfectly. It's just wrong, that's all.

Speaking as someone who had 14 stones albums back in the day and who saw them perform, I can tell you there were many, many times when they were fucking dreadful.

When jagger forgot the words and when richards' playing was so shambolic, he actually missed the chords he was trying for.

  • @dermotwalker Sorry to bore on at you buddy but I've just remembered that during the Let It Bleed recording sessions in 1969, Richards stormed out for a few days in protest at Jimmy Miller's decision to bring ( the fabulous ) Ry Cooder in to beef up the guitars - just like Dave Mason did during the Beggars Banquet sessions! And lemme repeat, just for the record, that there's no one can write a three chord wonder like keith richards but a smack addict's a smack addict, no matter how ya slice it.

  • @JoeKersten There certainly wasn't a conspiracy to drive him out - who said there was??

But these facts plus the heroin, led to the tensions that resulted in his leaving. It was a bombshell to Richards because he didn’t want him to leave, he just wanted him not to outperform him, so regularly.

  • @dermotwalker

    Ever heard "Jamming with Edward"?

  • @MrBluesrules Only ever heard fragments which might explain why I haven't been able to recognise it as the recording so many have raved about. Always felt the supporting musicians didn't get enough credit, people like hopkins, stewart & keyes. Not to mention the great jimmy miller. I was stunned to discover the female backing vocals across all of exile, were contributed by just three singers but mixed so beautifully by him that they sound like a full baptist choir - on tumbling dice, especially.

  • @JoeKersten Sorry to bore on at you buddy but I've just remembered that during the Let It Bleed recording sessions in 1969, Richards stormed out for a few days in protest at Jimmy Miller's decision to bring ( the fabulous ) Ry Cooder in to beef up the guitars - just like Dave Mason did during the Beggars Banquet sessions! And lemme repeat, just for the record, that there's no one can write a three chord wonder like keith richards but a smack addict's a smack addict, no matter how ya slice it.

  • @dermotwalker I'm a huge fan of his talents but he was a fucking heroin addict for Christ's sake! And while he coped extraordinarily well with it, the notion that it didn’t affect his behaviour or his ability to play, is laughable.

You can admire your heroes you know, and still recognise their flaws.

KR is an extraordinary songwriter and terrific RHYTHM guitarist. I can’t speak for Taylor’s songwriting abilities but he’s a far more accomplished LEAD guitarist.

  • @dermotwalker I totally agree. I think Mick Taylor left because he was turning into a smack addict himself and he felt isolated the whole time he played with the Stones. They really were amazing with him in their band. Shame he left. He says he still doesn't know why. I don't think he could handle it and he sure hasn't set the record business on fire since then. Keith and Mick write the songs. They just happen to be surrounded by great musicians who play on some the tracks.

  • @obieito Mick Taylor couldn't work well with Keith & Ronnie Wood & Keith have a much better rapore on guitars

  • stones did do it best

  • riktheluddite: Jack White would call you an asshole to your face for saying something that fucking stupid. You're obviously a mouth breathing retard...I just wonder who you got to type something that idiotic for you, as your mental skills are non existant...

  • The Stones did it best!

Sorry Robert Johnson, White Stripes, etc.

  • no one did it better then robert johnson

  • STFU. You're a retard.

  • the best guitarist the stones ever had died in1969

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Mick on rhythm guitar makes Keith sound like a country squire; a Little Lord Fauntleroy. ; ) One of my fave guitar assaults.

  • this is the stones best track ever. The solo here is something you cant describe

  • i thnk the jeff healey band did the best version since the original.............

  • One more time!!!!

  • The White Stripes don't suck, they just have 2 members as opposed to 5 for the Stones, plus the keyboardist and who knows what studio guys laid stuff down... It's all good.

  • white stripes version of this song sucks BIG TIME!

    THE STONES VERSION ROCKS!!!!

  • the stones re-interrupting robt johnson jack white re-interrupting the stones as sonhouse. bob sez 'it's all good'

  • There is no such this as "more attitude" than this. You don't understand what swagger is.

  • Thank you. It's the best.

  • version of stones is more blues, version fo stripes is good too, but i prefeer version stones, have harmonica, slide of taylor ....stones gods... exile bible of rock!

  • magnifica sensacional

  • I too prefer the Stripes' version.

  • I've never heard the Stripes' version, but this is way better.

  • I just heard the White Stripes' version.

It (the Stripes' version) is more intense, which doesn't count for shit. This has all sorts of dynamics in it.

Mick plays great harp and killer rhythm guitar. The ending is one of the best of any blues I've heard.

  • @pekoe67 Intensity doesn't count for shit?

  • How can you possibly say that if you haven't heard it?

  • I made an accurate prediction.

  • i like white stripes better

  • no shit Sherlock.

  • MICK TAYLOR IS BETTER THAN RONNIE WOOD

  • Mick Taylor is better than 99.9% of rock's blues based guitarists. So, not fair to single Ronnie out!

  • i'll stop when he stops

  • great song -finly herd it live in 89 with robert cray-in-hu-do u vo do-stone pay tv concert

  • woooo!!!!

  • love this song!
