Good stuff, Pat! I don't think that adding your own responses to the comment count is cheating at all. Not even a little bit. They are comments, after all. Now if you were to respond twice to each post, that would be a lil bit of cheating lol
Every time I visit your website I learn something new and valuable for my online business. Tip #2 "Reply to every comment" I can't believe I hadn't been doing that.
@SmartPassiveIncome - I can't believe you did not mention asking questions either. Nice little video. I've got to learn how to do these videos showing the screen shot and marking up the screen. Thanks for leading the way Pat.
Curious how the comments could help your SEO? I know the links could in the smallest way help find the commentors blog, didn't think the other way around. Another tip on top of the message welcoming comments is to ask questions. That way you hopefully are more likely to get a response.
@BudgetPulse I just sent you a link to an article that talks about how blog comments can help with SEO. I can't post the link here as a reply, but anyone else who is interested can just simply do a quick google search for "comments help seo", and see for yourself.
Asking questions is also a great way to get more comments - I can't believe I didn't mention that. Thanks BP!
Hi, when you advise to include your own replys in the "comment count" - is this done automatically in WP or is there a setting that I need to add/change? What do you need to do to make sure you are counted?
@20DayChallenge I believe on most themes, it's done automatically (it's the theme's design that matters), however on some, it only counts unique comments. The settings and where to change this may vary with each theme...hope that helps a little! Thanks!

Hi Pat,
Disqus is a pretty useful commenting system that you can plug into a WP blog.
