  • I'm a fan, I like how you have the front of your piano open, it looks cool

  • makes me want to get into a bar fight.

  • my, you are so good, I am jealous...

  • Just FANTASTIC!! I love it.. this is myfavorite hohky tonk tune..

  • mr.sands,

fuckin awesome!! you are good at this!!

  • Hmmm.... I love ALL your videos! It was Winifred Atwell that inspired me to learn piano as a teenager, so your music brings great enjoyment for me!

  • very talented young man! Tickle those ivories! You're the best!

  • Mr Sands. Man oh man, it just doesn't get any better than this. Good show mate.

  • This sounds more like Del Wood playing "Down Yonder" than anyone I've ever heard play it...other than Del Wood, of course. Absolutely amazing! Pure talent! Good luck! :)

  • well you certianly are the king of the keyboard...

  • Down Yonder appeared on Willie Nelson's 1975 Grammy winning album Red Headed Stranger (side 2 track 3.) The piano solo was by his sister Bobbie, who played with Willie on the road for almost all of both their lives. In concerts, Willie takes a break while Bobbie plays the tune. I saw them live in about 1996.

  • Fantastic! Really sounds like a saloon piano :D

  • love it

  • That was quite mesmerizing :)

  • do you have sheets?if could you please send to me?Thx

  • Some of the best piano going, between you and Ingenr I don't know who I like best. Great playing!!

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT RENDITION of a great tune. Love those modulations.

Dude -- in my humble opinion THAT is the way you get music out of a piano.

  • You are great!!!! Why aren't you recording albums or cds?

  • I' will say what that guy said, Top Banana

  • Bravo !! Top Banana !!

  • don't listen to ChickenLiquid...obviously he has no idea what he is saying.

  • Awesome - - Thanks, I really enjoyed this.

  • Wonderfull artist!

  • do you think someone who starts to learn piano at 16 can play this? i know it's very late but i like this song and want to play this one day.

  • Wow I had to register just to let you know, I am shocked. Wonderfully delightful to hear this played like you do. Incredible.

  • It´s really a yoy to see you play and listen to.

Why the world does not see and hear more from you !?

When I´m down you bring me up .

    God save you and

best wishes from Nuremberg in Germany !!

  • Some years ago I saw Winifred Atwell on stage and I thought nothing could ever be a successful challenge to that lady's playing. How wrong I was. You should be on a bill at the London Palladium buddy. Trust me, you are good.

  • Now THAT'S how it's supposed to sound! I'd pay to take in a Concert of yours! Thanks for sharing your talent through the magic of You Tube. My best to you!

  • You could easily give Moon Mullican, Dell Wood or even Jerry Lee Lewis or Mickey Gilley a run for their money easily! You are the best young piano player I have ever heard! I would love to hear you do Pinetops Boogie Woogie!

  • Michael - You are the Best since Liberace!!! I do love watching and listening to your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the rest of us. You should be Famous!!!

  • Where do you get the sheet music

  • Fantastic, listen to you all day!

  • Yeah I mean like holy shitballs will you marry me dude?

  • You are the best in playing this kind of music! Please tell me how this kind of piano is called? Is it a pedal piano, with bass played by pedal? Thank you

  • Absolutely brilliant! Will definitely be subscribing to this!

You were right about one of your comments on another video, having an out of tune piano certainly adds authenticity! My piano is out of tune, wish I could produce something like this though! Good job!

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! ★★★★★

  • I listen every day to Michael, he is just the best

  • Great playing, I can almost see the dancing girls.

  • Britain's Got Talent needs you. Not since Winifred Atwell, Russ Conway, Liberace and Mrs. Mills has Britain had talent like yours.

  • GREAT JOB !

  • Hi Michael, I guess I have played Down Yonder more than a 100 times it is such a good song to watch and listen you play. What a joy you are to watch and listen to. I also enjoy Adam Swanson, Tim Rotolo and Wesley Reznicek but you are by far my favorite. Keep up the fantastic playing I look forward to hearing more of your new songs. God bless you from Opelika, Alabama U.S.A.

  • Michael, You are my favorite pianist of all the you-tube pianist I listen and enjoy your music. God bless you for the wounderful music that you play. You are so talented keep playing and sharing your music for all to enjoy. You are a delight and joy to watch and listen to.

  • @davidopelika ...HE'S FANTASTIC....ALSO....HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT ALLEN DALE ON YOUTUBE....BOTH ARE GREAT !!

  • @WC86EVA Allen Dale looks retarded next to this guy. You must be on the pipe.

  • @SeeburgMusic As I said. both are great. Why compare?. Just listen and enjoy. and no I'm not on the pipe nor have I ever been.

  • An old song says "in heaven there is no beer." But, I think as long as there's honky-tonk music, a sprightly old piano--(and a drop-dead-handsome man to play them!)--we'll all be happy forever. Good job, Michael.

  • T'es mignon en plus ;-))

  • HOT DAMN!

  • well done

  • Impressionnant ! La musique des années 20 est vraiment enthousiasmante ;-))

  • As I was saying, my 1916 Hammond Mello

Harp upright piano with French action sounds very much like your piano Michael. I was interested in comments of 123chevyman, and Honkytonkman. You're great - keep doing what you do so well.

  • Wonderful talent! My vintage piano, a 1916

  • Terrific! Man you are genius!

  • Your insane!!

  • I am in love. Why are you not plastered across the world yet? Sir, you are a STAR.

  • every smoking ragtime-ilove it:)

  • Cool. The piano: Any old 1920s (or so) out of tune piano like this will do.

  • Make an album, a CD. What kind of piano is that, its gorgeous. I just cant get enough ragtime and boogie woogie. If I had this music in my car, it would cut my frustration with traffic so and make it tollerable.

  • Some people sing in their cars .... If I were listening to this in my car, I'd drive off the road and kill myself trying to play this on my dashboard! It's bad enough when I'm listening to the Stones and playing guitar on the steering wheel!

  • Great piano playing, as always. But I wonder whether you had realised that your piano is a semitone flat? I had a honky-tonk piano that was flat to the same degree, but the piano tuner was able to take it up to correct pitch in one go, and it held its tune so well that I had to de-tune it myself by very slightly tightening the middle string of each trichord. It's best not to overdo the honky-tonk detuning, in my experience. Best of luck, and keep playing! Regards, Mike

  • FANTASTIC! Love it! More like this one please . . . . !!!

  • JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!

  • Michael, you are really talented. Thanks for your playing. Brilliant!

  • Why aren't my comments posting?

  • T Totally Awesome! I am amazed every time I watch this. I LOVE ragtime. Have you ever seen Miss Bobby Nelson (Willie Nelson's sister) play this? She used to play it at his concerts. I don't know if she still does or not. I admire people who can play by ear. How long have you been playing the piano?

  • great!!!

  • holy fuuuuuuuuuck man !!!!!! ace !!!

  • good one

  • absolutly beautiful, i love the rag time sound and you play it with such talent.

thank you for sharing your talent!

  • Fine performance. Wish I had your skill.

  • a really honkie tonk sound

  • The view inside the piano is interesting while you play.

  • i'm looking for sheet music from this song, do you have it by any chance? grtz from holland

  • I am so impressed!!! I am trying to learn this song now. Did you learn it from sheet music?

  • where i can find the pdf piano version??

  • Ahhh, love the sound of an open piano :)

    great job

  • That is so amazing, I could watch it over and over. The way you sit down so serious and then just tear that piano up! Especially love around the 2-minute mark. Bravo!

  • Thats dexterity! Looking for a simple guitar version and thought i would give this piano version a listen.. Glad I did, that was way cool. You and that piano sound way older than you are.

  • excellent player thanks for posting !!!!

  • Move over Jo Ann Castle ;-)

  • Great !!! Keep the tradition alive. I remember in the late 1940s or early 50s the recording of DOWN YONDER by Lawrence Piano Roll Cook and then the recording by Del Wood.

  • Eat your heart out Del Wood, this guy is

fabulous! Best piana tune ever. I have heard Del Wood do it live on the Grand Ole Opry and it was always great!

  • WOW! I'm a fan! Please email me if you have recordings or CDs or something, not much out there in quality recording with current tech I know of. This is such great, fun stuff.

  • What kind of piano is that?

  • Don't know what it is but I love Honky Tonk piano and you are among the best I have heard.

  • Awesome! could listen to you playing this over and over again. You make that piano sing. Thanks!

  • GRACEFULLY DONE, BRAZ'O OL CHAP

  • Excellent playing!

  • I agree with seeing you playing in a piano bar. Great! Nothing beats a regular upright.
