someone please get there backside into gear and bring this boat home.anyone with money could restore it and turn it into a conference centre weddings and fishing trips and a museum.it only takes a bit of organising.get the whole of merseyside to donate we will soon have the money..marc stowell
THIS BOAT WAS PART OF MY CHILDHOOD, HAVING BEEN ON IT SEVERAL TIMES.CRYING SHAME TO SEE IT,IN THIS SORRY STATE,SO EASY FOR PEOPLE TO TURN A BLIND EYE ON THINGS THESE DAYS.SAD,VERY SAD.
I went on a Rock n' Roll Sea cruise on the Royal Iris in 1976 Adrian Henry was the MC and the band was 'Shakin' Stevens and the Sunsets' - It was a great night, I was picked up by a lovely Scouse girl several years older than I was.
I hear there are plans for refurbishment by the current owner which would include spending some time on the Mersey every year. Let's hope it all works out.
The Royal Iris should never have been sold off in the first place. There was a bus shaped like the Royal Iris in the 1960's. Does anyone remember it?
Bernieboltblue, No need for a nasty comment like that. By what I can make out the Facebook group is a fantastic medium for raising awareness on a great cause and I have respect for all it's members including the people who set it up. 1500+ members can't be wrong, let's get this fine piece of history home.
ATTENTION, first off let me thank you for your support, and kind comments, and if you are interested in the lovely Iris and her future please join her facebook group to bring her back home safely.
Hope you all go to view the Facebook group who are passionately trying to get this Queen of the Mersey back home. Go to Facebook and search for "Bring the Royal Iris back home" . Great comment about Sir Paul McCartney, I'm sure his endorsment on proceedings would help no end.

With such associations, it never needed charity or subsidy to make her last forever, just enterprise.
She is 'resting' right next to the Thames Barrier visitor centre where she could have been made into an additional attraction for the site. "Beatles Story London" perhaps?
luckly for her she in a shallow harbor that she is out of the water when the tide goes out, but that a mixed blessing. She needs help fast or she will start having other problems.
And I Thought She Looked Really Good Untill Her Stern Dipped Beneath The Water, Thats Odd. She Musta Sprung A Leak During One Of The many Low Tide Instances.

Terrible to see the state she is in. I would avoid signing up to the Facebook group. It's run by a Wirral nutter on a power trip.
