There are "no stars" because the camera is exposed for shooting the lunar surface and the astronauts, not far away, tiny points of light. You just can't see them. The surface of the moon is really bright, and would take a "daylight" setting to photograph.

DeadJesus100 has read the explanation many times by now. I and others have also suggested simple experiments he could do to verify the case for himself. We can see stars only when atmosphere exists. In moon it doesn't, so we can't see the stars, nothing but black actually. Since there is no air at the moon nothing can be moved on it;s own(like the usa flag). They astronauts made the flag look wavy.

The lack of photos showing up in NASA photos is because the cameras are set to image the astronauts and the surface features. If they set the exposure to show stars in the background, you'd lose all detail of the astronauts and surface and it would be just a washed out white blur.

I don't know about everything else, but the whole "no exhaust" thing - it seems to me that you wouldn't need a continuous stream of propulsion to escape the moon. It makes sense that there isn't any exhaust because the craft wouldn't need to continually propel itself as if it were on the Earth. That one burst of the thruster that you see in the video would be sufficient enough to launch the craft.
@alienfast The fuel is hypergolic, meaning it ignites on contact with the oxidiser, and most hypergolic fuels burn clear in a vacuum. This has been seen in other films and shorts of different rockets in the upper atmosphere.

I can really understand the frustration and in many cases anger people feel towards the "we never went to the moon" crowd. Meanwhile back in the real world, a mission to map the gravity of the moon is just starting. Mapping gravity is an interesting thing to do because it shows the variations in density of the material inside the moon. There is some debate about whether after it formed, the moon remained hot long enough for all the heavy stuff to sink down towards the middle. There are lots of things more interesting than the idiot claims of the "we never went to the moon" nut bars.
The part I've never understood is the lunar module taking off (supposedly) from the Moon. If it takes enormous rockets and fuel and thrust to get off of Earth and push toward the Moon, then it would take an equal amount of rockets, fuel and thrust to GET BACK. And they didn't have it!!

Put simply, once free of the lunar gravity, they really did just fall back to Earth. Roughly 1/5th of the way back, Earth's gravity is stronger and simply pulls them in.

Great argument, but the lunar module wasn't actually made to leave the gravitational pull of the moon. It launched into a lunar orbit where it joined back up with the command module, which was built to reach the speed of approximately 5,000 mph to travel the nearly 23,000 miles to escape the moons gravitational pull. @xander7ful There is no atmosphere on the moon, so much less resistance. Same with gravity. The moon is much smaller than the earth, and thus has much less gravity. @xander7ful@xander7ful The gravity on the moon is 1/5th that of the earth plus no atmosphere means no wind resistance during the assent. A rocket leaving earth burns HALF its fuel to reach 1,000 mph because of the lower atmosphere density. This is why the space shuttles solid rocket boosters were only needed for the first 2 minutes of launch. MUCH less fuel is needed to liftoff from the moons surface. Rest of the fuel for the journey home was waiting for them in lunar orbit (command module).

I remember doing laboratory experiments at university involving alpha, beta and gamma, and I was surprised to find how effective plastic was as a shield. Hydrogen atoms don't weigh very much but interact strongly with any charged particle that may come in. A few atoms thickness of a metal such as aluminum or gold on the surface, increases the interaction with any electromagnetic thing that comes along. However, gamma rays (rare) are generally too high for a thin layer to stop.

During the same experiment with the plastic bags we tried lead (good shiled) concrete (good shield), wood (resonable shield), but were surprised to see how poorly Aluminium foil performed. "Why weren't there any stars?" Simply take any camera and set the exposure controls to what they would have set them to. (same shutter speed and aperture you'd set for any outdoor daytime photo) Then, take your camera out on a clear night, shoot a frame or two and see if any stars show up. I promise you they won't. I photograph stars often, and it takes at least a good 15 second exposure for stars to register.

I don't know about everything else, but the whole "no exhaust" thing - it seems to me that you wouldn't need a continuous stream of propulsion to escape the moon. It makes sense that there isn't any exhaust because the craft wouldn't need to continually propel itself as if it were on the Earth. That one burst of the thruster that you see in the video would be sufficient enough to launch the craft.

Mapping gravity is an interesting thing to do because it shows the variations in density of the material inside the moon. There is some debate about whether after it formed, the moon remained hot long enough for all the heavy stuff to sink down towards the middle. Put simply, once free of the lunar gravity, they really did just fall back to Earth. Roughly 1/5th of the way back, Earth's gravity is stronger and simply pulls them in.

Great argument, but the lunar module wasn't actually made to leave the gravitational pull of the moon. It launched into a lunar orbit where it joined back up with the command module, which was built to reach the speed of approximately 5,000 mph to travel the nearly 23,000 miles to escape the moons gravitational pull. My intermediate physics and chemistry class in highschool taught me this! Maybe you should've paid attention in those classes, assuming you're an adult and still believe in this conspiracy crap. @xander7ful @xander7ful The gravity on the moon is 1/5th that of the earth plus no atmosphere means no wind resistance during the assent. A rocket leaving earth burns HALF its fuel to reach 1,000 mph because of the lower atmosphere density. This is why the space shuttles solid rocket boosters were only needed for the first 2 minutes of launch. MUCH less fuel is needed to liftoff from the moons surface. Rest of the fuel for the journey home was waiting for them in lunar orbit (command module).

I remember doing laboratory experiments at university involving alpha, beta and gamma, and I was surprised to find how effective plastic was as a shield. ( We used cut up shopping bags as the target, increased the number of layers and recorded the results with a geiger counter). Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon in 1969.

Hydrogen atoms don't weigh very much but interact strongly with any charged particle that may come in. A few atoms thickness of a metal such as aluminum or gold on the surface, increases the interaction with any electromagnetic thing that comes along. However, gamma rays (rare) are generally too high for a thin layer to stop.

I was not disputing that enough plastic stops gamma rays. They don't matter to the Apollo mission but in other cases they do. Nearly all the other radiation can be stopped by plastic if you include a thin layer of metal on the surface. The UVC will also go through just a few plastic bags.

"Why weren't there any stars?" Simply take any camera and set the exposure controls to what they would have set them to. (same shutter speed and aperture you'd set for any outdoor daytime photo) Then, take your camera out on a clear night, shoot a frame or two and see if any stars show up. I promise you they won't. I photograph stars often, and it takes at least a good 15 second exposure for stars to register.

And naza, again is still gtrying to understand not only cosmic radiation, but how much radiation exactly is on the moon. go look it up, I think you need to do some up to date research and stop lying in order to sound like your an expert in something.

Astronauts tell us about the stars which they see in space, why was apollo 11 an exception? and Again, why do you think they collected any kind of radiation data during those missions? they did not. go look it up.
