I got my guitar signed by Ray by showing up five hours earlier for his one and only book signing in San Francisco in 1996. I was first in line. I said " Ray would you mind signing my guitar?" Ray flatly said "I would". For a split second I was crushed. He of course was just kidding me. He very gracious and signed my guitar and book.
