  • This song is god tier. It is everything that is chrono trigger wrapped into one song. the perfect snes game. the perfect song.

  • this song. this fucking song. <3

  • It is a shame not many people play these kinds of games anymore, games like these that make us understand more. you know what people in my class play? fucking call of duty bullshit like that. I swear it sickens me and also makes me sad. The generations to come will be swimming in shit if we dont bring these games back. I am just 14 years old and I grew up playing RPGs.

  • Yes GameMasterSoko.. I heard Yasunori Mitsuda had an ulcer because he worked so hard on this soundtrack (and probably anxiety from it being his first soundtrack). Nobuo Uematsu had to finish the last peices to the soundtrack while Mitsuda recovered.

  • greatest VGM ever...just a lovely piece of music, makes me shiver and gives me goosebumps every time....

  • true this is music for the few chosen ;P

  • Of all the songs I have ever heard in my life, I can honestly say this is my favorite one. It really touches the soul. I truly feel the emotion behind this one. Mitsuda said that he had dedicated this song to someone that he wanted to share a generation. Possibly someone he had feelings for. He is an amazing composer.

  • This song is 16 years old. Wow. I can't imagine when I listen to this song again in 20 years.

  • Could Chrono be Goku's brother???

  • @leandroprete no, no he can't....but he could possibly be Gohan's brother,

  • @leandroprete The illustrator for Dragon Ball also did the art for Chrono Trigger!

  • @leandroprete The creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, also did the art for Chrono Trigger.

  • Simply put: This song makes a baby smile and an adult cry.

  • I both adore and hate this song. Adore because of its sheer beauty and nostalgia, and hate because hearing it meant that the best game of my childhood, Chrono Trigger, was coming to an end......*sniffles*

  • Five people are just mad that they missed the fair of the MILLENNIUM.

  • Five peoples don't have life

  • @MinatoNamikaze00 They destroyed their chance of having one with a game called Black Ops.

Seriously, that game preys on lives.

  • I wanna take some nice drugs do a play through of this game.

  • @3BetLight You derp, you don't need drugs to play this game. Or any game actually.

  • @aLLtimEgameR123 need ≠ want

  • I know this song is supposed to be hopeful but I don't like. It means Chrono Trigger is over :/

  • @MrDonkDonkerson i just feel sad when i hear it. T_T

  • Game music (and games in general) just aren't what they used to be. Ah ...this brings me back :)

  • please never stop posting vids...

  • this reminds me of the bulls intro theme. o_O

  • I'm also cracking open some SacredBeer! Yeah!

  • You dont have right to dislike ALL CT THEMEEE

  • According to Wikipedia Mitsuda cried when this played at the end of the game. Put his heart and soul into this soundtrack.

  • @GameMasterSoko

So much so that it's even been reported he developed health problems. Shows that he really has passion for his work.

  • And to think, all of the story wouldn't have happened if Crono had stayed home...

  • @ProjectOmega05 Good thing he was lazy that day...

  • @ProjectOmega05 Says a lot about taking chances in real life, doesn't it? :)

  • I like how people like us can just gather to listen to the awesome music of the past and reminisce without the hatred of the internet breathing down our necks.

  • @imooumoo4 That was... Beautiful! *Wipes tear away*

  • Best game song EVER!

  • A tear came to my eye when I finished chrono trigger, and a tear came to my eye now :')

  • good things come to those who wait

4:40 is just one of these things worth waiting for

    TT‿TT

  • Things get serious at 2:38

  • @IfritZero It's always serious

  • God bless Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu and all the other composers who worked to make the video game with one of the best music of all time.

  • I will forever miss old jrpg's for the brilliant imagination it brought to us. Now we have games like FFXIII that lost track of what made it so specia,l imagination. I guess in this reality people favor graphics over storytelling.

  • ah damn this song just brought back so many good memories.

  • Just get ZSNES. The DS version is even worse than the PS1. Loading times is one thing, but you don't mess with the script of the greatest RPG ever made.

  • @TheBaron87YT

That makes no sense. I mean, you can count the original translation as a way of messing with the script as well. After all, the ACTUAL real script is the Japanese one, and believe you me, the 1995 NTSC script takes a lot of liberties and has a couple of glaring flaws.

Doesn't mean I dislike it, but the fact is that the DS script is a lot more faithful to the original, so it actually messes less.

  • @Sejr Ugh, no. I don't give a damn about the stupid Japanese one, I don't give a damn that the game is made by a Japanese developer. Yeah, the DS version is more accurate and if that's how it was translated in the first place it wouldn't be half as good as it was. Woolsey improved every script he was given, and damn me for still buying Square's trash when everything since has been the same melodramatic otaku fanwank. Square itself sucks, Squaresoft USA made their games worthwhile.

  • @TheBaron87YT

Heh. Well, that's certainly an opinion one doesn't hear too often.

  • @Sejr To me, Square is like a drug dealer that gives you the really awesome stuff at the beginning to get you hooked, then slowly switches it out for less and less potent drugs so you have to buy more because you're addicted and can't help yourself, and now you realize you're addicted to shit and hate your dealer but you can't stop buying from them. I loved CT, FF6, SMRPG, and Secret of Mana. FF7, 9, 10, and 13 were ok, 8 and KH are garbage, at least 12 was good. The remakes make me rage.

  • @TheBaron87YT You have a very strict gaming standard. . .

  • @TheBaron87YT

Agree with you on your main point you are making about square. However, I hated FFX with a passion and 12 was just horrible. Pretty much everything that came out after 9 was such utter crap. I don't care about graphics, I just care about great stories with great characters. Square sure has changed; but now I realize why they changed their name to "Square-Enix" Because they didn't want to shame the old Square name with making garbage.

  • @PurpleDolphiN42 well 13 was good but I agree with you :)

  • This list severely lacks Schala's Theme :(

  • :o

  • 感動しました。そういや、風船EDとシルバードEDの2種類あるんだよね。当時プレイしたのが小学校や中学校の頃だけど、一番の青春だった。

  • does this come out for the ps1? if so i might be able to get it

  • @GameLover27 yes it came with ff 6 a 2 pack named final fantasy chronicles.

  • @GameLover27 it came along with final fantasy 4, go to the square-enix website and look for PS-ONE classics they have it there for $19.99

  • @SpartanFromSpain If you can Handel the most agonizing load times ever...

Me: "GODDAMNIT!!! IS THE WHOLE GAME GOING TO BE THIS SLOW!?!?!?"

  • @Gmanster64 thats why u need the Snes or DS version

  • @Oztington007 working on that.

  • Comment removed

  • I heard that Yasunori Mitsuda originally wrote this song for a girl he loved. I guess she said no? *coughbitchcough*

  • funny you should say that, i had an snes and i hate my parents to this day for busting it and this game b/c i played too much . ah , dysfunctionality !

  • @Tentoken Those jerkholes

  • I hate my parents for never buying me a SNES lol...I would be a totally different person if I had played this game when being a child.

  • This makes me cry every time I hear it.

  • try thinking about dieing when this is playing there is no fear just try in lol

  • That piano is beautiful, nothing can ever stop the heart of this song.

Even if the heroes are about to meet their death in the mesosphere.

  • I think a Game like that will never be seen again :(

  • @chillerduesi Not as long as publishers are on the throne.

Down with constricted creativity and design decisions made by marketing fools. Long live independent development, long live passion and art, LONG LIVE -GOOD- GAMES!

  • Wild arms has better music.

  • I remember playing this song at the end of a presentation in elementary school, and the teacher ended up giving us >100% lol, I'm pretty sure it was the song. Good times.

  • Wow, I have never heard this song before and it made me cry a bit, chills of epicness on my back right now...I just ordered this game from Ebay because of that...

  • @volvagia333 Bravo for being an example of why music uploaders on Youtube are beneficial.

  • Everyone returning to their own time... To far away times.

    It's like a goodbye and a promise.

  • One of the best songs of ALL TIME. Yeah.

  • 5 people can't defeat lavos core

  • This game defined a generation of gamers. It'll be with us all till the day we die.

  • @Aeonknight Your comment was simply perfect. It'll be with us till the day we die.

  • That's gay. My comment with 154 thumbs got bumped. Heh. Oh well.

  • Can there be a better combination than the Snes SPC700 AND Yasunori Mitsuda? I think not!

  • I remember seeing this game in Nintendo Power, (the cover had the Virtual Boy on it.) and I remember reading for almost a whole hour just being amazed; then I went to the kitchen and showed my mom and said, "I want this game!" She later rented it for me and I couldn't wait till Christmas day of 1995. When I finally got it, I knew it would be my favorite game of all time. No game has affected me like this one has.

Simply put, one of the greatest games of all time!!

  • man so awesome, no words could describe the game in detail

  • 5 peps like xbox 360

  • @akroma24 dislike

  • It is fitting that a game who's plot is so tied to the idea of time and chronology would be so utterly timeless and remain a pure gaming experience as the clock of life ticks on and on

  • @TheCuster58 Amen brother. Amen.

  • 4 People are actually the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and hate how epic this music sounds.

  • whats worng with the 4 people that don´t like this song?,,, I almost cried when a listen to it,,,it defines,,,EVERYTHING =D

  • @poderx Seriously, I'm beginning to think that some people have no soul. I still get chills when I hear this.

  • @chosentonessournotes Men, not only they don´t have a soul,,, tehy just seem to don´t be alive at all,,, this is not just a melody... it´s THE melody,,, =)

  • I this a seriously RANKED list??? if not, non said.

I mean, this song.. on 232?? Are you insane?? This is pretty much the most awesome track EVER created, at one of the most epic moments ever to have happended.. The ending of CT was so good it just had to be some sort of accidental act of god

If this is a ranked list. Please check out number 10.. I just came across it.. compare that track to this one.. someone had to be very drunk or very retarded

  • @TylerNessss it's on the top 5 on my list

  • @TylerNessss its not ranked

  • that song reminds me the new year ^^

  • So I pause this music for a second at 1:45, probably the most epic part... look up at the T.V and hear this old guy say "I had to do things to a man to get the dope." Totally killed the magical moment I was having.

  • This is the last thing I want to hear before I die.

  • @menroflkuk

Me too, because this makes it sound like its not the end, but more like a rest, which I believe too.

    Like a long, loooong sleep ; )

  • @menroflkuk Well that put me off playing, this game makes you want to die.

  • I think I'd want to die with Frog's music me while making a heroic last stand. But this would be my second choice!

  • @menroflkuk I want this on my funeral..

  • When I heard this song, I was at the verge of crying. Why? Because I had just beat chrono trigger. I felt sad for all those new, amazing experiences I would never be able to completely recreate. And now I move on...

  • Comment removed

  • this really makes me want to cry... fills my heart with hope.

  • Fact: Mitsuda broke down crying upon hearing his music played during the ending, this music. You know the music is awesome when the person who made it cries at how beautiful it is.

  • Chrono Trigger music is god tier.

  • @daboys121 no its god is chrono trigger music tier

  • Too all you kids saying you wish you could have been born in the time when CT was released... You were! It was on the DS, and although not a perfect port, it was great. I enjoyed it very much, and even though the exclusive content was nothing more than fetch quests, I dug it very much. You may not have been born in a time when this game was FIRST released, but SquareEnix was kind enough to re-release it to allow you youngsters the opportunity to experience just what we did in 95.

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Hahaha

    I love you fellow gamers!

  • I wonder: will there be any better theme than this in any time? Probably no.

  • Hmph. Either 4 people are really fucking stupid, or missed the like button.

  • @chosentonessournotes the 4 people are vote bots .

  • Dream.

  • You know, as a young whippersnapper it's great to see a bit further into the future, but if I could have been born to be a kid when games like Chrono Trigger came out, I wouldn't have it any other way. :')

  • This theme. This theme is the BEST theme from any RPG. It is a song that is filled with hope, knowing that you did save the world from a dark future. With the Epoch jetting through TUIme seeing Frog with the Guardia Knights, Robo with Atropos, Ayla and Kino flying on Dactyl and findally Magus flying off into the sky, this theme is so perfect. God I love this game.

  • It's hard to believe that, over winter break three years ago, I simply came across this game in a bin of old SNES games my dad used to play with no idea what it was. Before I realized it had an awesome story, I got hooked because I had heard a MIDI of the battle music online somewhere before (again having no clue to its origin) and liked it. To suddenly come across it in a game I knew nothing about was a moment of awesome.

  • Other than watching my dad play Legend of Legaia and the Final Fantasy series as I grew up, this is probably single-handedly responsible for thrusting me into a love of RPG's. It also solidified my stance of the SNES being my all-time favorite console.

  • @amimizunofan22 Yeah... it's hard to say that any other console has bested the SNES. For me though, it's a tie between PSX and SNES...

  • @weglarz Well, its graphical and audio capabilities were certainly higher, which made the great titles on it even better. However, I feel like there were more games that I have strongly fond memories of on the SNES than the PSX, even though we had fairly comparable numbers of games on the two. However, as I said, the games I liked on the PSX were even better because their aesthetic properties were better. Argh! You're right; it's tough to choose.

  • @amimizunofan22 hold onto that cartridge and never let it go.

  • @RotaryPoweredRX I still have the cartridge, the only one I have left. Shows how much this game means to me.

  • Awesome.

  • Too bad I was only 5 when it came out.

  • I played this first on the DS, since i am in a newer generation. now i wished i was born earlier so i could of played this game on the snes. Chrono trigger is the best game I have played

  • Listening to it this time, I noticed that it's basically a medley of a few of the other pieces of the soundtrack, e.g. Corridors of Time right at the beginning, and I also heard "Silent Light" somewhere in there.

  • I'm crying when listening to this :)

  • the entire chrono soundtrrack is beyond epic

  • Where is this song originally played?

  • @Akerfeldtfan it is played during the ending credits as far as i remember

  • @kemsus Your correct! I just replayed the game and noticed it this time. Beautiful song!

  • @Arc13: Me too! I played this song after my first kiss with an old girlfriend...far away times indeed. Nonetheless, bittersweet is still sweet.

I also saw this on the iTunes of a friend, who owned no other VGM. Apparently some boy who fancied her sent it :)

I think the slight echo on the piano track (esp. 2:07) is tied up with its power. Like the ripples after dropping a stone in a still pond.

  • Very few songs give me goosebumps every time I hear them.

Even fewer songs can give me goosebumps AND a warm fuzzy feeling in my gut.

And only one song has ever been so beautiful as to make me streamline tear after tear after tear.

This track is an absolute masterpiece and the not just the greatest game song ever but the greatest song ever.

  • @Arc13 I agree. I also tear up to this song. Peace.

  • Whenever I hear this song, I feel a melancholy emotion. It's bittersweet that you beat the game, but now all of the great expiriences you have had with it are now in the past.

  • I know I've said this on a couple of these already (Dire, Dire Docks and Into the Thick of It), but this is another of my absolute favorite video game songs of all time. All three are just amazing. The fact that this is the ENDING song of a freaking amazing game makes it that much better. I've never enjoyed victory so much.

  • That's Final Fantasy 6 you're talking about, the north american title is FFIII,but a true rpg fan knows this so...

  • Comment removed

  • sends chills down my spine... I don't know why....wow....

mitsuda has a twitter guys, just so you know you can pour on the praise.

  • What a lot of people don't know is Yasunori Mitsuda became every ill from stress while making the Chrono Trigger soundtrack because his job was on the line. Even vomiting blood and he said his illness inspired a lot of the music.

  • This, like many Mitsuda compositions, makes me emotional.

  • Chrono Trigger owns bullshit like Twilight and Modern Warfare. People will still talk about this game 20 years from now. Nothing can touch this game's heart and soul.

  • Twilight is a game? o_O

  • I think he means that Chrono Trigger owns all the modern popular trends people are into these days. (:

  • Well, we all know nothing is absolute.

  • Twilight? Never heard of it. As far as SNES RPG's, Final Fantasy 3 can take on Chrono Trigger :P

  • @RSXemperor i sincerely hope so, i certainly will

  • @RSXemperor its been almost 20 years already 2 remakes and theres still nothing like the original games will never be this good again and its sad

  • @RSXemperor 4 more years and it WILL be 20 years for the game. From where you commented, let's see if we will in 2030. I'm sure we are since this is one of man's greatest games.

  • @RSXemperor How was this in the highest comment? Twilight is nothing by itself. All he was doing is comparing CT to Modern Warfare (Can't say it sucks because I don't like war games in general).

  • CT is my favorite RPG videogame ever!

  • To think that they achieved musical perfection in 1995, wow. This is a masterpeice, in a god damn 16 bit game! Just amazing

  • I totally agree. Chrono Trigger had breathtaking music.

  • Haha! I actually cried a little bit.

  • I played this game again recently.. still gives me the same chill. The music is really EPIC!

  • CT songs bring me tears...

  • holy shit... this is the most beautiful thing i've ever listened to

  • Listening to this song really gave me chills ... Chrono Trigger is such a amazing game ever made.

I'm happy that I played when I had the chance :]

    Good memories ahh.

I hope CT lives on !

  • Maybe I'm taking a gamble here, but this series needs another installment. Maybe it'd be like FFXII and totally suck, but the Chrono Bus needs another stop.

  • why does everyone hate FF12 ..... ill agree the storyline and charaters are all garbage, and that is the prestige of the series ..... but i thought the playability and adventure aspect were great, it was enjoyable to play on my front, logged like 70 hours on it

  • Wait what? All I ever found I ever did was run around. The gambits I set basically did the rest :/

  • When play this song in the game?

    (I'm argentinian,my inglish isn't perfect)

  • @rengato41 I'm not sure, but maybe at credits?

  • La cancion suena al final del juego... en los creditos para ser mas exactos... uno de los mejores ending themes q hay en los Videojuegos... :)

  • this is playing at my funeral. Sad or happy? whichever, it works

  • This is what happens when the best of the best team up. they didnt call themself the Dream Team for nothing.

  • Masato Kato and Yasunori Mitsuda weren't amongst the Dream team though. :( Honestly they are the heart and soul of the series. Considering they're the main members who've worked with every game in the series.

  • 2:39

  • I remember the very first time I played this game... The day it was released in the US. I picked it up for a hefty $85. I still have the ticket from the Toys R Us I picked it up at. 1995. I was 8 years old at the time. I played it through in about a week. Between school, homework and other things a kid does, I was engrossed into it's story... I couldn't believe a game like this existed.

Nearly 15 years later, nothing has changed. This game is, and always will be, the greatest game ever created.
