this is a delema in starcraft 2 pvz. is it me, or does it seem like the zerg should have won that first battle convincingly. If huk wasnt so good he would have died and most protoss players would have also. does this mean protoss is fundementally weak in the early game? So then was it huk's mistake to take his units out in the open, did he macro slip? Or was the army difference simply a result of toss being weak as hell early on? thanks 4 any advice guys =)

Your reflexes have to be quick enough to react the moment your opponent over commits. Your timing and placement must also be perfect or force fields are absolutely worthless. Huk is probably top five Protoss in the WORLD--how can anyone suggest that this level of force field use doesn't require skill? If this were a video of some random scrub abusing forcefields and insta-winning, then sure. But it isn't, and you don't see that kind of thing. Why? Because forcefields take skill.

i don't, winning purely by macro is cheesy imo. in war, generals are in charge of command, tactics, not economy. That's something sort of artificially placed in RTS games. it should give an advantage, but not decisive.

@mofogie I would agree with that statement thanks. I did mention out play. He had a distinct advantage at one point in unit count and ability to make more but he still got worked. I personally think that SC2 needs more units, whether they bring old ones from Brood War, or develop new and exciting shit I don't care but I think bringing lurkers back would probably make zerg an opponent to actually take seriously.

@blackman223 yes, you can mass them in large amounts easily, but the problem that I was pointing out is, because of their large size, unless you are in a wide open field, only 3 to 5 of them would be able to attack at once while the other howmanymore you have would just be wiggling back and forth, trying to find an open spot to hit the target.

Man huk does EVERYTHING to get even a little bit of advantage. The probe stacking of two per mineral patch early in the game to get the efficient mining in place before the game gets really underway. The "probe harass" 2:00 - 2:05 where he forces drones to stop mining and find another patch. Just amazing the incremental advantage that he tries to get. I haven't watched it the whole way through but this attentiveness to detail is amazing.

@curlymafurly2 Imho ff are fine as they are, because they are the only thing that make up for the slowness and lack of manoeuvrability of the protoss army..zerg+creep, terran+stim, toss+ff.And while speed is a "passive" ability, ff are not, like you said.Not to mention the almost complete lack of harrassing potential with drops as toss.A terran pretty much always makes medivacs, a zerg will always make overlords,how many warp prism have you seen used since the beta?Personally no more than 5 :P.

To be fair however, especially in the early game, Protoss can go where ever the fuck they want through the warp gate upgrade thats only 50 m 50 g. That is an important reason why you dont see many warp prisms. In the late game when it is true that bs pylons will all be found, the P army can stay mobile with the mass recall spell...i know its rare, but its still a possibility to have the advantage in a base race.

@brainstem46 Well that's true, but you should also consider the fact that warping in new units isn't technically "mobility". I mean, if some flyer attacks my mineral line while i'm T or Z, i can quickly move my units to the rescue, as P you need to make new ones. Sometimes you would have warped them in nonetheless, sometimes they are extra stuff that will slow teching down. The fact that each race has its unique traits makes it difficult to judge what's OP and what's not in general..
