Claiming the mantle of Wisdom and Compassion... do you have no sense of shame and honesty?

The Dalai Lama is saying Kindness is the Key to present and future happiness...yet so many are being unkind, untrue:

Now that is a crying shame...and in spite of the Dalai Lama's efforts.

Whomsoever.. kindness-- path of peace, ...if you wish long life, good health, sleep, appetite, nutrition.. birds .humans will be more kindly disposed toward you...You will not die untimely death.. will be source of people's hopes and dreams and the old will generate goodwill and faith..

If the elder folks hold forth too much then all the younger generation will be annoyed, turned off and think.. what's the point?

The worst case...children might feel what's the point and commit suicide.....

His Holiness is saying that Bodhichitta or the heart of universal goodwill is the essence of Dharma--a kind heart is of benefit in this life, in the in-between state and in future life times....unhappiness is caused by negative actions; and nothing overcomes negative karma than universal goodwill of a kindheart...

Seems His Holiness is talking about the present and future--and likely is overcome by sadness at the sight of so many working so hard to accumulate causes of future pain and suffering.

Its nothing to do with his past 2011. The up-loader (sherabnyinje) must change the caption. That's probably in 2006 / 07 when His Holiness was teaching Lam-rim (Path to Enlightenment) text at Tsuklak-khang Temple in Dharamsala. While explaining the importance of Compassion and Altruistic mind, his holiness was shedding tears out of his deep and profound compassion for the sentient beings.

Actually, he's a person. I don't know why, but most people sometimes get a bit teary eyed. it could be for many reasons ranging from yogic cleansing of the sinuses to the audience being so emotional to have him there to what a rough night he ad or that he received bad news about 3rd parties not shown.

@sherabnyinje la....HHDL wasn't crying for his thoughts about the past. HHDL is teaching about compassion (Jang Chup Lam Rim) and cried because of his infinite compassions. HHDL cry quite often when it comes to teaching about compassion.
