  • BRING BACK TIM "RIPPER" OWENS!!!!

  • The best song all over the wurld.

  • "No! No General Lee! It is not your fault! It is not your fault!"

"Please, please my friends! It is all my fault. Let us rest and fight another day! There will be more battles friends.."

"General Lee it isn't your fault!"

  • @jeffrielly You've seen Gettysburg with Jeff Daniels and Martin Sheen, right? Because, you know, it's pretty amazing.

  • this song got me into the gettysburg war in middle school.... :)

  • AMAZING SONG!!!AMAZING MUSIC!!!

  • Songwise, the best of the three. Amazing trilogy.

  • bayonet the yankee tyrants

  • He still is a cop.

  • The intro is the most epic metal intro PERIOD.

  • Barlow!?!?!?!?

  • This song is truly one of the best ever. The whole album was fantastic.

  • supreme!

  • Am I the only person that prefers The Ripper? I mean to me the only other Iced Earth album that comes close to this is the Dark Saga. The emotion on this album is incomparable, you can tell it was approached with genuine sentiment. The rhapsody of John and Tim is wholeheartedly beautiful.

  • @ArseTang I think of it like this... Owens is wonderful with what he sings and Barlow is wonderful for what he sings. Both are amazing... Though, I do prefer Matt for his diversity. But this whole album is just incredible.

  • I hear Matt Barlow in a part of this.

  • @cubby3o5 It's Jon Schaffer singing Longstreet's part ;)

  • @psychomurderguitaris I know Schaffer says that it's him but I don't believe it. The Longstreet part sounds just like Barlow. Plus if Schaffer can sing that well why doesn't he just become the full time singer for the band instead of bouncing around from singer to singer like they have?

  • @MetalstarX Yeah well... Schaffer's been singing some Iced Earth songs (he's the singer on A Gift or A Curse?) and he is the singer on Sons Of Liberty (check out Jeckyll Island and Our Dying Republic). Of course it's still possible that it's always Barlow singing, but I doubt it.

  • @psychomurderguitaris Barlow and Schaffer actually sound fairly similar, anyway. Like on Desert Rain or Our Dying Republic. I do think this is Schaffer though because Schaffer actually let Barlow go when they did this album because Barlow wasn't what Schaffer was looking for for this album. Barlow joined the police force and started a band in his department that made music reinforcing the war on crime and drugs and they played schools and such. So, I personally believe it is Schaffer.

  • @psychomurderguitaris From Wikipedia: Matt left the band and the album was shelved until a new vocalist could be found. However, some of Barlow's initial recordings remain on the record as backing vocals, and is credited with co-writing two songs.

  • @psychomurderguitaris It really isn't Barlow, just because he wasn't on the Glorious Burden. Schaffer literally said Barlow didn't have the voice he was looking for for this album.

  • @MidnightThrash barlow had begun recording this album and i think that his vocals had been used for backing vocals on some songs. And it's definitely schaffer singing

  • @psychomurderguitaris BTW... the whole album was originally recorded with Barlow on vocals but Jon wasn't satisfied with his performance. All Barlow's backing vocals are actually just parts cut out from the original vox master track.

  • @Devotheus And that's the reason why I'm almost certain it's Barlow on Longstreet parts of the song ;)

  • @Devotheus Jon actually sounds a lot like Barlow in the lower/mid ranges, he just can't get as high as Matt can. Jon does lead vocals for Sons of Liberty, and if you listen to their stuff you'll find it quite believable it's him singing Longstreet's part here. He's also sang on a couple of other IE songs...Frankenstein and Stormrider to name 2.

  • @MetalstarX

Whatch a live vid, it's Schaffer singing, dead on too. Barlow wasn't in the band when Ripper was, he was too busy being a cop.

  • @MetalstarX

To me, it obviously is not Barlow. As for Jon being the full time vocalist, I doubt he, while fine in these vocals, would be able to perform in the full range of Iced Earth vocals. Even if he could, I bet he wouldn't want to play rhythm and sing at once.

  • @cubby3o5 I agree I always wonder that myself, It sounds tooo much Like MAtt Barlow to not be him.

  • No words can describe the epicness of this song

  • Best metal trilogy ever!

  • Ahhh!! General Lee! Why did you have to lose this Battle!!

  • ok i need a realy goo civil war movie to watch now can anyone recomend one to me (prefer it to be about the battle of gettysburg)

  • @jeffrielly the movie gettysburg or Gods and Generals!

  • this song relay brings to life general lee's emotions after the the failed picket's charge Iced earth did a great job on this whole epic pice (parts1-3)
