  • RIP to Ernest. Know what I mean, Vern?

  • How come there are Quaker Oats, but there isn't "Shinto Oats" or "Celtic Pagan Oats"? There is nothing offensive about the "Sherwood Forest Toys & Hobbies" commercial, but if aired today, someone would probably find a reason to be offended by it.

  • Wow

  • Pink and Purple horse + "lacy garter" = Insanity

  • I loved Spooky Fruit!

  • Fashion star fillies HA HA HA HA HA I probably wanted those!

  • are some of these products i have seen on your vids still around? besides the obviouse ones like lucky charms, frosted flakes and others?

  • I like how the Frosted Flakes ad set the table like they were at home in a kitchen, instead of camping out somewhere. In 6 years of Boy Scout campouts, we never had a fruit basket or glass juice glasses with us.

The not-so-subtle message--Hey kids, once you finish making your fake burgers, go to Burger King for real burgers!

That horse fashion doll probably came about when someone said "Girls like fashion dolls and horses! Let's combine them!" Probably made more money than I ever will.

  • croonchy stars was good as hell. especially in a big bowl of cold milk. good stuff.

  • huh... I wonder if that sherwood forest place is still around 330 main st chico?

    I'm in texas so I wouldn't know

    anyone????

  • @orion5175 google maps/street view shows a place called "Campus Bicycles" there now.

  • McGee from NCIS is that blonde kid in the Honey Smacks commercial.. LOL

  • WOW! mouth stickers from tang the simple joys of childhood.

  • Boy I remember that buger king play set wasn't that Winnie from the wonder years? In the frosted flakes commercial it looked like her. I had the ken doll to wow the memories Never forget those Tang commercials.

  • I was probably watching on this exact date, for this was my most beloved block of 80s Saturday morning programming. Nothing got me out of bed early like playing Legos and watching Pee-Wee followed by Garfield!!!

  • Beverly Mitchell from "7th Heaven" is in the first Smooshees commercial. She's not the crazy girl. She's on at 1:17.

  • I loved the Play-Doh Burger King Whopper Playset.

  • PeeWee Herman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im sad to read that sherwood forest closed in 1997 :(

  • Yeah Barbie. Bury Ken in the sand where he belongs! lol

  • Was a ban imposed on prizes in cereal boxes? No cereal has prizes in it anymore.

  • @barnie7219 it seems like it. They're afraid all the kids will put it in their mouths and choke on it. lol

  • I want Smooshes darn it!

  • @danceractress96 I had them. Because we girls didn't have as much fun as trying to stuff big objects into small places, so they had to invent a toy that could.

  • the oatmeal commercial is totally 80s'. Also- Snifferific? WTF?

  • LOL!

Ironically, those play-doh burger king foods are probably healthier than the originals...

  • YEAH!!!! Tony the Tiger is a BADASS!!!!

  • Why were the Beach boys so popular with little girls in the late 80's? lol

  • @xContaminatedx The Beach Boys actually had a big comeback in the late 80s. I was a fan.

  • A horse in a lacy garter and wedding dress.

    .... PML!!!

  • I had one of those dinosaur spoons

  • 9:11 Awesome! Where can I get one of these in adult size?? Oh, and don't forget about our great costume department, where we apparently sell only one type of mask...! Store closed in 97, but still a great Robin Hood mural on the building.

Smooshees look totally lame, and I was a 9 year old girl when they came out! But they are commanding a pretty high price on ebay these days. Can you believe there are still some MIB? Can you imagine stumbling across cartons of unopened 80's toys???

  • I have two Fashion Star Fillies horses, I white one and a blue one. I also ate the cereal with the swedish cheif.

  • Don't eat the burger king playdo, kids.

  • agreed

  • tv was so pure back then for children, i wish tv was like this now.......i feel bad for little kids who are frowing up without the quality videos i had back then

  • I had a plastic mouth figure wearing a leather jacket.

  • it definatly is snifferific

  • Boork Boork Boork!

  • 9:06 its gumby

  • 6:10 I love that "What is this?"

  • LOL OMG! Garfield!!!

  • i have that exact radioshack offroader 4x4 truck. it really does do a good job with offroading!

  • I love that control room, the memories it brings back.

What I'd give to go back to one saturday in the 80's. It was so quiet back then, you only had basic tv and maybe cable. You weren't over stimulated and bombarded with tv and media.

  • Absolutely right. Almost seems intentional, doesn't it?

  • lol at your #11 comment!

  • I'd pay 10 cents for that animal book.

  • That California Dream Barbie was one of my favorites. I remember around this year was when we took a vacation to Walt Disney World, and my mom said I could bring a few toys on the trip but she would NOT let me bring my Jem dolls ("Those dolls cost too much for you to lose!"), so my next pick was the California Dream Barbie. :P

  • lol thats jem for ya

  • Hell yeah Pee-Wee's Playhouse <3

  • Yeah, you're right. Saw a Family Guy parody once...

  • Something tells me a kid ate that burger king play-doh lol

  • It's okay. Play-Doh's non-toxic. *lol*

  • I had the Smooshees, but could never remember the name of them until now. I remember when I was ten years old I sold my smooshee house and most of the smooshees to a lady for ten cents at a flea market. What was I thinking??

  • snifferriffic

  • I actually remember these years of CBS Saturday even though I was around 4 at the time. I think the last time I watched the CBS Saturday block as when Back to the Future and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs were on. After that I switched to FOX and ABC.

  • That Smooshies girl will haunt my nightmares forever.

  • Quality volume.

  • girls NEVER N E V E R played remote control cars with us EVER nor did they without

  • Why? I am a girl and I had the Range Rover one, that exact same model...and I also had the purple Fashion Star Fillies shown here too.

  • Frosted Flakes & Tang!!!lol

  • I've always thought the play-doh burger king set was retarded. What's the point in making food if you can't eat it?

  • Holy shit, I had that Barbie! My sister gave it to me for Xmas that year. Within a month, her hands and feet had been mutilated by my teeth and her hair was 3 times as big from my obsessive brushing. I loved that doll.

  • Royal Courtain is now doing sports for KRCR 7 (ABC).

  • That's a very "Anchorman" esque name. Reminds me of Ron Burgundy or Wes Mantooth.

  • dude seriously .. i had to replay that .. Royal Courtain?! .. what the fuck?

  • when the kids say garfield and friends, they sound so depressed

  • You noticed that too? I remember hearing that as a kid and thinking, "Wow, they don't sound excited at all, that show must suck!" Of course I watched it anyway, what do those kids know...

  • Instant Quaker Oatmeal 'Apples & Cinnamon' was my top choice for morning breakfast while getting ready for kindergarten in the winter months. Thank you so much, for getting the commercials from the Saturday morning Pee Wee's Playhouse! I watch the show when ever i am feeling down, cheers me back up. So glad these shows are now available on DVD sets. 5/5.

  • Don't remember Smooshees, that girl is awesome though.

Those CBS Saturday Rocks bumbers, I don't remember them at all. Which is strange, as I almost always watched Garfield along with the Muppet Babies....

Fashion Star Fillies... yeah... , even a My Little Pony fan like myself can't understand the need for a horse to have a wedding dress.

Yes, you are totally correct! Golden Crisp forever, Honey Smacks fornever! Sugar bear > Dig'em. Etc. Etc.

  • I'm staying the hell away from Sherwood Forest now...

  • I love how these kids commercials shows toys which don't use electricity to be able to have fun, unlike the things we have today which consume a lot of electricity (and we are suppose to be conserving energy).

  • how come all the frosted flakes commercials i've seen are about "braving the rapids"?

  • You haven't seen very many then. All of the ones with kids are sports themed. I've posted one about a boy playing basketball in 80's Vol. 12, a boy in a bobsled race in Vol. 14 and a girl at a gymnastics tournament in 90's Vol. 9.

  • You can mock the boy in the bobsled all you want, 80cv, but his mad bobsleighing skills impressed Rebecca Romijn enough to marry him.

80cv is your new nickname, by the way.

  • I had forgotten all about the snifferiffic Quaker Oats commercial. If you see steam like that, it's probably best that you continue sniffing and not taste.

  • Horses have weddings? :)

  • in the 80's anything could have weddings

  • Know what's weird? These ads are from 1988, but the one for Frosted Flakes is from 1984.

  • These commercials are totally rad.

  • Like, TOTALLY rad dude...
