Joey (Jeff Hyman) was a great fan of U2 and was listening to U2 recordings when he passed away. I have read that U2 was deeply moved when they heard this.
@RossM3838 On the Elevation: Live from Boston DVD, Bono confirms what you have read. They dedicate "In a Little While" to Joey and Bono explains that the song was about a hangover but Joey turned it into a gospel song. Their admiration was very mutual. Without the Ramones U2 wouldn't have existed.
U2 did this song at a promotional concert at Irving Plaza,New York City in December 2000....Joey was in the audience... less than 2 years later the legend that is Joey Ramone passed away...RIP Joey
